Trillion Dollar Joy Ride

My fellow citizens voted for Change thinking that the new guy would perform miracles and overhaul Washington game playing. What they got is a change for the worse. The administration is using tried and true tactics known to the players in Washington for decades. If the president needs a vote, he buys it. Why not? It has been done over and over and over again with great success in major democratic cities like Chicago, Boston, and New York.

What gets me upset is the price that he pays for a vote. In one case he made a deal with the Senator from Nebraska that will cost billions. Another vote bought  in Louisiana cost a hundred million. The real corker though is the price he paid for the vote of Dennis Kucinich from Ohio. I consider Dennis to have the character of a tape worm. That’s a worm that grows in your intestine, and lives off anything that comes through the canal. Anyway, we now know that Dennis can be had with a simple ride in Air Force One.

What really troubles me is that Dennis seemed to be very convinced that he would vote “no” on the health care bill. He was very committed to having a public option. Somehow, he changed his mind on that ride with POTUS. Could it be that POTUS put a bug in his ear, that a public option is not far away because it’s buried in the 2700+ page bill?

Tea Party Terror

The Part of YesBack in April, I attended my first Tea Party. It was a rather subdued group of conservatives, liberals, young and old. We all sang, pledged our allegiance to the flag, and listened to some eloquent young people speak about liberty, taxes,  and the government take over of capitalism. There were no arrests, there was no shouting or shoving, just peace loving folks who were all mad as hell about the events taking place to change the fabric of our great country. Nevertheless, we were branded as “Tea-Baggers, Nazi’s, Astro-Turf, mobsters, and much more. The Liberal Left had to destroy the Tea Parties just as they tried to destroy Sarah Palin, Joe the Plumber and any other threat to their revolutionary takeover sold under the slogan of “Change We Can Believe In.”

When I wrote my post in April, I warned of a looming terror attack on the horizon. The Tea Baggers were coming. They were coming brandished with a weapon of mass destruction; the vote.  The time has arrived. It will be interesting to hear the new adjectives  the liberals will use to negate the effect of the elections on their agenda.

Mad As Hell

My Flag Flies Everyday

My Flag Flies Everyday

About four months ago, I made up my mind that I should cancel my subscription to AARP.  My reason was that they sounded like they were in the pocket of our beloved president Obama.  I never did cancel.  AARP is supposed to be the voice of the senior citizen. I thought they were my lobbiest in Washington. Wrong. They are another voice for socialism, and the public option health care plan. Over the years they have become an insurance company. Now, they fear for their life. The public option threatens to destroy them and every other insurance company in the country.

Today, I received an e-mail from a friend which contained a copy of a very eloquently voiced letter from a lady who expressed my own concerns.  I don’t want this BLOG to be a medium of passing e-mails, but every once in awhile something really good comes along that needs to be spread. This letter is one of them.

Finally, I’m getting off my ass and will cancel my subscription to AARP right now.  I hope that after you read this letter you feel the same, and act on it the same way.

Here is the letter.

I couldn’t agree more and verified on Snopes, this lady really did write the letter.

Great AARP Letter
This letter to the AARP says it all.  It is a must read regardless of your age.  Some people just make sense in what they say.  This lady certainly does.
This was sent to Mr. Rand who is the Executive Director of AARP
Dear Mr. Rand,
Recently you sent us a letter encouraging us to renew our lapsed membership in AARP by the requested date. I know it is not what you were looking for, but this is the most honest response I can give you. Our gap in coverage is merely a microscopic symptom of the real problem, a deepening lack of faith.
While we have proudly maintained our membership for several years and have long admired the AARP goals and principles, regrettably, we can no longer endorse it’s abdication of our values. Your letter specifically stated that we can count on AARP to speak up for our rights, yet the voice we hear is not ours. Your offer of being kept up to date on important issues through DIVIDED WE FAIL presents neither an impartial view nor the one we have come to embrace. We do believe that when two parties agree all the time on everything presented to them, one is probably not necessary.  But, when the opinions and long term goals are diametrically opposed, the divorce is imminent. This is the philosophy which spawned our 200 years of government.
Once upon a time, we looked forward to being part of the senior demographic. We also looked to AARP to provide certain benefits and give our voice a power we could not possibly hope to achieve on our own. AARP gave us a sense of belonging which we no longer enjoy.. The Socialist politics practiced by the Obama administration and empowered by AARP serves only to raise the blood pressure my medical insurance strives to contain. Clearly a conflict of interest there!
We do not understand the AARP posture, feel greatly betrayed by the guiding forces whom we expected to map out our senior years and leave your ranks with a great sense of regret. We mitigate that disappointment with the relief of knowing that we are not contributing to the problem anymore by renewing our membership. There are numerous other organizations which offer discounts without threatening our way of life or offending our sensibilities.
This Presidential Administration scares the living day lights out of us. Not just for ourselves, but for our proud and bloodstained heritage, but even more importantly for our children and grandchildren. Washington has rendered Soylent Green a prophetic cautionary tale rather than a nonfiction scare tactic. I have never in my life endorsed any militant or radical groups, yet now I find myself listening to them. I don’t have to agree with them to appreciate the fear which birthed their existence. Their borderline insanity presents little more than a balance to the voice of the Socialist mindset in power. Perhaps I became American by a great stroke of luck in some cosmic uterine lottery, but in my adulthood I CHOOSE to embrace it and nurture the freedoms it represents as well as the responsibilities it requires.
Your website generously offers us the opportunity to receive all communication in Spanish. ARE YOU KIDDING??? Someone has broken into our ‘house’, invaded our home without our invitation or consent. The President has insisted we keep the perpetrator in comfort and learn the perp language so we can communicate our reluctant welcome to them..
·         I DON’ T choose to welcome them.
·         I DON’T choose to support them.
·         I DON’T choose to educate them.
·         I DON’T choose to medicate them, pay for their food or clothing.
American home invaders get arrested.
Please explain to me why foreign lawbreakers can enjoy privileges on American soil that Americans do not get? Why do some immigrants have to play the game to be welcomed and others only have to break & enter to be welcomed? We travel for a living. Walt hauls horses all over this great country, averaging over 10,000 miles a month when he is out there. He meets more people than a politician on caffeine overdose. Of all the many good folks he enjoyed on this last 10,000 miles, this trip yielded only ONE supporter of the current administration.  One of us is out of touch with mainstream America. Since our poll is conducted without funding, I have more faith in it than one which is power driven. We have decided to forward this to everyone on our mailing list, and will encourage them to do the same. With several hundred in my address book, I have every faith that the eventual exponential factor will make a credible statement to you.. I am disappointed as hell. I am scared as hell. I am MAD as hell, and I’m NOT gonna take it anymore!

Intelligent Design?

Is it just me, or am I wrong in thinking that Congress is supposed to author the bills? The content of bills they have recently passed without any understanding of them  wouldn’t be so foreign if they had authored the bills in the first place. So, who is writing the bills for them? Have we reached the point in our economy where it is cheaper to oursource  law writing to India, China, or Venezuela? I have tried to read HR 3200, but I am too illiterate to understand it. I think the supposition that they were written by a foreign entity is a plausible reason.

Here is another version of what might have happened:

Dear Senator Durbin: Do You Get It?

My Flag Cries Everyday

Dear Senator Durbin;
Thank you for responding to my letter regarding your inability to hold town hall meetings with the people of Illinois. I appreciate that you are a busy man and prefer to receive input from the select few who will support your own views.
It takes courage to stand before a group of angry voters who are disappointed in their representative’s performance. I see by your actions that your character is not what I had always thought it to  be. I thought you were a strong leader who was concerned for all the people of Illinois. I see by your actions that I was wrong to assume that.
I am an American who believes that his country is sacred because it was founded on the principles of personal liberty. I see big government taking those liberties away from us faster than it takes a toilet to flush. I believe you and President Obama do not get it. It, being the fact that I am not alone. How can you possibly legislate when you do not know the mood of your constituents? By not hearing us out face to face at town hall meetings you cannot possibly know how we feel. Sure an angry constituency can become unruly, but only if their Senator gives them a standard line created by the bureaucracy in Washington. Tell the town hall people you understand their needs. Tell them that you will go back to Washington to stop wreckless spending, become fiscally responsible, and not vote for bills that are so long and impossible to understand, that a bevy of lawyers would have trouble doing so.
Here are some of the points I wanted to talk to you about:
1. Health Care Reform is needed, but not what is spelled out in HR3200. I do not want you to support HR3200.
Come back with something that will not take money from Medicare to fund it. The President so eloquently told us that he will only eliminate waste from Medicare; some five hundred billion dollars worth. Yet, when he asked the entire government to eliminate waste from their budgets they could only come up with one hundred million dollars. Do you really expect me to believe that you and President Obama are capable of finding, and eliminating that much waste? That kind of reasoning is exactly why town hall meetings get noisy.
Take out the part about setting up every school with Planned Parenthood centers.
Add wordage that is specific to not funding abortions. Specify the word abortion, and not sneak it in under the radar as a medical procedure.
Add words that ban government operated public option health care system.
In other words, HR 3200 is not worth the paper it is written on. Do not vote for HR 3200.
2. Legislate tort reform now, don’t wait for a reform bill.
3. Eliminate the barriers to private sector competition by allowing insurance companies to cross state lines with their plans.
4. Pass legislation that requires the president to obtain congressional vetting and approval on his “czars.”

Need I go on some more, or do you get it? If you can address these issues in a rational logical way, and not in a party controlled response, I will regain my faith in your ability to serve as my Senator.

Respectfully yours,
Grumpa Joe
