Trump Economy a Failure

I didn’t watch the democrat debate last night because I didn’t feel like getting sick. I saw enough on the news this morning to cause my gall bladder to kick out some serious bile. This bit featured several candidates proclaiming that the Trump economy is a failure because it only addresses the rich, poor people do not benefit.

Let me see now, as I read this they mean that the lowly people don’t get to make the same as the rich. I kind of remember that in a socialist society like the USSR, Cuba and Venezuela the lowly people all make the same as the rich right? That logic fails me. I keep hearing that the Cubans are all poor, but the rich are still rich, except there may be fewer rich people in Cuba. Why? Because the only rich people are the ones running the country, same in Venezuela. At least in the Trump economy there are more rich people because they are all working their asses off to make it. While all of the lowly poor people now have jobs and they are richer than they were under our former leader’s economy when everyone was on food stamps.

There must be a DNA link in me that keeps my feeble brain thinking that the socialist way is evil for the world. There must also be a DNA link in the socialists that cause them to believe that evil is good. Why else would so many of them preach the same wretched doctrine?

I read an article about the new homeless people in all the major cities of the USA. Many of them don’t want to live the idyllic life we normal people live. They actually want to live homeless because it gives them a degree of freedom and liberty not available to those of us who believe in sleeping in a bed. My mind immediately flashed a picture of settlers living in the old west, and homesteaders living in Alaska’s most remote areas. They love living free. A modern day homeless homesteader likes the urban environment over the natures wild best. It is easier to bum a meal on the streets when you get hungry than it is to go catch a fish, or to shoot a squirrel then have to clean it to eat it.

So here we are living in a society that is split into many factions. The socialist side wants to mind control, care for, and provide equal misery for everybody while the capitalist side wants total freedom to allow people to make money and care for themselves. No matter which faction you belong to there will be a fraction of them who are filthy rich who will lord over all the others.

However, I have never heard a socialist ever admit that the ruling class lives a better life than those whose lives he is making better. They are all kind of like Bernie Sanders who drives a posh car, has several homes, and lives rich while preaching free stuff for everyone.

Lately, I have been reading stories from countries who have adopted democratic socialism that are not sounding so beautiful. Evidently a seventy percent taxation is getting these people down, especially after taking in so many refugees and immigrants.

All I can say is that my kids and grandkids will have to deal with it. My sorry ass isn’t going to be around too much longer and I am tough enough to live through most any kind of political culture we impose upon ourselves. I am glad however, that I chose to live conservatively because that is why I can afford to do the things I do today.

There Is Hope For the Next Generation

Grandma Peggy and I are constantly asking what will happen to our grand children in the future? I, for one, believe that they will adapt no matter what kind of country America becomes. What troubles me is that they will never see the same America that I did. They will never see a country of opportunity, but they may see a country filled with expectations. They will expect free stuff, like a free house, a free car, a free phone, free health care, free college, freedom from work. The list is endless. What they won’t experience is the joy of being free to live a life based on one’s own ability. They won’t know the joy of excelling at a job and advancing, or better yet, the joy of starting a business which becomes successful.

Somehow, they will cope with a socialized America. They will live joyfully as drones and go to the collective-whatever to work for the same wage as everyone else because sameness is what makes them joyous. I saw this same joy in the faces of those in East Germany, and in the communized states of Hungary, Czechoslovakia, Yugoslavia, Romania, Latvia, Lithuania, and Estonia. The people of these countries were so filled with joy, the government built fences at the borders. To assure their joyous faces wouldn’t spread to neighboring capitalist countries they erected guard houses every three hundred meters and manned them with people whose job description was “shoot to kill.” The fence, and guard houses stand in a wide grassy field one hundred meters wide on either side of the line. Most of these people are so happy to spread their joy they sneak across the field at night and lay still trying to blend in with the grass when the spotlights pass over. A few make it as far as the fence, others lay bleeding and dead in the grassy field.  Those who reach the fence must climb four-meters of cyclone fence with spiraling razor wire at the top. Again the lights shine and the machine guns sputter a line of bullets through the night sky and find the bodies scrambling up the fence, all happy and gay with only the single-mindedness to spread their joy.

Very few joyful people make it into the scummy capitalist countries to spread the message of  happiness. Most find their greatest freedom as they lay dead and bleeding at the foot of the wire wall.

Then, I see a video of a young woman named Elle May. I watch it, she inspires me, and raises my belief  that my grand children will still have the same opportunity to live in the America I live in.

Imagine the World Without Her

AmericaFlyer-WashingtonMonument

Last Friday, Peggy and I experienced sticker shock by going to the movies. I needed to see the documentary film “America,” produced by Dinesh D’Souza.

“That’ll be sixteen dollars please.”

“What? Do you see this white hair? What happened to the five dollar tickets?”

“This is Friday sir we charge the weekend rates. The five dollar ticket is for Monday through Thursday.”

I quit fighting, paid the money, and went to get Peg her bag of pop-corn. I buy a small bag because she eats one or two handfuls and then quits. I end up eating the rest.  “Six dollars please.”

“What? Would you repeat that I don’t think I heard correctly, I thought I heard you say six dollars.”

“It is six dollars sir.” During the week, I scream at an outrageous price of four-seventy-five for the same bag, and now they want six. Oh well that is capitalism at its finest.

We were the first ones in the theater and chose seats in the second row center. That makes it easy for me to sneak out for a whiz if I need to go. We sat and began watching trailers for new films to come. Peg and I shared the pop-corn. About mid-way through the third trailer, I had to fidget and eased my grip on the pop corn. PLOP! It fell to the floor. I saw my six bucks fly off with wings on it. Luckily I saved enough by carefully picking up the bag; Peg’s few handfuls saved.

The movie America, is an excellent expose of Progressivism and D’Souza points out the background for the Progressivist movement. In a nut shell, liberals hate colonialism, and that hatred permeates our society with arguments based on the premise that colonialism is theft. He briefly mentions that Obama’s father hated colonialism because his home country of Kenya was a British colony. Obama senior served as advisor to Jomo Kenyatta who ruled Kenya after breaking away from Britain. Unfortunately for Barack senior, Kenyata quickly saw through Obama’s scheme and fired him. (Evidently the Kenyans are much smarter than Americans.)

Here are some of the progressive arguments:

1. America stole the land from the native Indians.

2. Americans prospered on the labor stolen from slaves.

3. America stole land from Mexico.

4. America thrives on capitalism which steals from the average person to make business owners filthy rich.

5. America based its foreign policy on stealing resources (oil) from the mid-east.

The film very expertly examines the basis for each of these arguments then turns to debate each with sound facts. I have used many of the same arguments deduced from the faint knowledge of history that I have and some common sense. The problem is that the liberals teach their arguments in high school and college, and a Howard Zinn textbook is now used by fifth grade teachers. Zinn is most notorious for writing history textbooks that explain history from the viewpoint of the common man. Zinn does not offer a second viewpoint in his books, so our kids learn history from the viewpoint of socialism. In the film, a colleague of Zinn from the same school absolutely refutes Zinn’s perspective of history. (I wondered why this guy didn’t speak up about Zinn to University leaders. It must be the mindset of college professors to leave each other alone under First Amendment rights.)

During his defense of stealing land from Mexico, Dinesh interviews a young man of Mexican descent who lives in the U.S. on land purportedly stolen from his ancestors. The man loves America and has no desire for his state to be returned to Mexico. In fact he argued that the current Mexicans are upset that the U.S. gave back half of the land they conquered during the Mexican-American War of 1846 and paid the Mexicans for the other half. Had the U.S. kept all the land native Mexicans would have the same outcome.

America, kept me riveted to the screen from beginning to end, and I recommend  everyone see the movie. I especially liked the rock version of the Star Spangled Banner played by Madison Rising. It was a perfect way to end the course.

Yesterday, I sent a letter to each of my high school aged grandkids with a flyer for the film and a twenty-dollar bill. I asked them to take a friend to see America.

D’Souza left me disappointed in one aspect. In his intro to the film he asks us what would the world be like if there was no America? I didn’t see the answer to this question anywhere in the movie. I expected to see a version of “It’s a Wonderful Life,” where we see the outcome of North America had the American Revolution not succeeded. I’ve been thinking about the question ever since, and will write an essay based on my own visions.

Lesson For Today

I often use the word conundrum, but am never really sure about its definition. I received an e-mail from my cousin which helps to clear it up for me.

***********************************************************************************

Subject: Conundrum

A conundrum….very strange

The definition of the word Conundrum is: something that is puzzling or confusing.

Here are six Conundrums of socialism in the United States of America:

1. America is capitalist and greedy – yet half of the population is subsidized.

2. Half of the population is subsidized – yet they think they are victims.

3. They think they are victims – yet their representatives run the government.

4. Their representatives run the government – yet the poor keep getting poorer.

5. The poor keep getting poorer – yet they have things that people in other countries only dream about.

6. They have things that people in other countries only dream about – yet they want America to be more like those other countries.

Think about it! And that, my friends, pretty much sums up the USA in the 21st Century.

Makes you wonder who is doing the math.

These three, short sentences tell you a lot about the direction of our current government and cultural environment:

1. We are advised to NOT judge ALL Muslims by the actions of a few lunatics, but we are encouraged to judge ALL gun owners by the actions of a few lunatics. Funny how that works.

And here’s another one worth considering…

2. Seems we constantly hear about how Social Security is going to run out of money. How come we never hear about welfare or food stamps running out of money? What’s interesting is the first group “worked for” their money, but the second didn’t. Think about it…..

and Last but not least,

3. Why are we cutting benefits for our veterans, no pay raises for our military and cutting our army to a level lower than before WWII, but we are not stopping the payments or benefits to illegal aliens.

Am I the only one missing something?

Lower Than Stupid

Obama never ceases to amaze me. There are times when he sounds very smart, but most times he acts dumb as a rock. His goal to transform America is one of those dumb ideas. His campaign promise to “transform the greatest country on earth” is the most stupid thing I have ever heard. He never has told us what he was going to transform us into, not even during his snoozer Super Bowl interview with Bill O’Reilly.

One of the more recent efforts to sell his Un-affordable Care Act is to spew the concept of people staying home to pursue their dreams instead of taking one of the several millions of new jobs he has not created. The logic is that if you have free health care you don’t need to worry about a job. That is lower than stupid, but it is his admin spreading that heresy.

How he amazes me is this, his base believes him and adores his father’s Kenyan thesis. Well, I don’t. I happen to believe that working for a living gave me self-sufficiency to pursue my dreams, notably a wife, a family, and some fun.

Watch this short video, put together by someone who is genius in graphic arts. Most likely this person didn’t let health care get in his way of creating an entertaining and insightful lesson in economics.

Let No Hurdle Obstruct the Path

A good friend called me recently and said how amazing it is that Obama is knocking down all the barriers set up by the Founders to protect the country. She pictured a cartoon in which Obama begins as a normal citizen (we take that loosely) and destroys the Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Rule of Law on his way toward assuming a throne in the White House as King of the USA.

She is not far from wrong, because he has worked successfully to knock down barriers. He certainly ignores the Rule of Law and openly dictates to his Bureaucrats about how to treat illegal immigrants, how to deal with Arizona Law Enforcement, New Black Panthers intimidating voters, abortion, voter ID, and more. He commissioned Hillary to work the UN to end run gun control to take away our Second Amendment Rights. He has ignored Freedom of Religion under the First Amendment within the Health Care Act. He has openly declared that if Congress cannot give him the laws he wants he will find a way to do it administratively via Executive Privilege .

No one can deny that he has divided the country by waging class warfare, and has neutered the USA in speeches saying that our exceptionalism is no different from the exceptionalism of an Egyptian or a Saudi. His attack on Capitalism is relentless. He regards Capitalism as a broken down old system that does not work. He does so while denying that the world is a better place because of Capitalism. One modern example is within Communist China’s short embrace of capitalism  over four hundred million Chinese avoided starvation and have reached a decent standard of living. China’s success with capitalism came from a huge redistribution of wealth from the Western World. We sent them our entire manufacturing economy.  Obama’s change toward Socialism is of course an older idea, proven to be a disaster by many countries. Socialism failed in spite of murdering over sixty million dissenters who stood in the way of trying to make it work. Obama’s problem is that he does not read history. He is too young to know first hand that Socialism existed and hated by those who lived it. So, in his mind Socialism is new.

Obama is hell-bent on obtaining a socialist agenda in the USA during his presidency. What is scarier is that he is setting up to neutralize the Congress with his end run Executive Orders. He is changing the Supreme Court by nominating über liberal judges like Sonya Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. In a second term he will probably replace a few more judges.

The result is that the hurdler is not running according to the rules. He kicks the hurdles down instead of leaping over them and changes the rules to make that acceptable. He has achieved a tremendous amount of success in making the transformation. As a side note, he attacks his opponent by arguing that Romney does not offer any detail on how he will bring back the economy. Yet, during the 2008 campaign, the only detail we heard from Obama was two words, hope, and change. Not once in his campaign did I ever hear him give any detail on what he wants to “transform the greatest country in the world” into. How could anyone buy that line? The logic escapes me. Change the greatest country in the world, doesn’t the “greatest” title imply change is not necessary?

Let No Hurdle Obstruct the Path

We cannot, we must not, allow this man another four years to succeed at his agenda. If we do, it will be you and I who suffer the consequences. King Obama will continue to have his meals served while the Secret Service chauffeurs him in armored cars, and flies him to vacations in Air Force One. We, on the other hand, will be fighting each other for a piece of bread, or a gallon of gas.

Have We Learned Anything in 62 Years?

My Flag Flies Everyday

My cousin Rick sent me this e-mail today. I took his advice and watched the nine minute cartoon movie. The message applies to our plight today. I happen to believe that we are in a fight for our life, as we know it. Our freedoms are being eroded, and quickly at that. If we don’t wake up, and stop the ball that is rolling down the hill we are doomed.

Here is the body of his message:
“This is one of the best I have ever seen and it was produced in 1948 . This should be viewed by every AMERICAN….     WHETHER DEMOCRAT OR REPUBLICAN.
Click on 1948 Cartoon below – this cartoon is timeless and is just as true today as it was in 1948!”

Harding college put this out in 1948.
