Blue State Blues

flag-fireworks1In 2009 when I attended my first Tea Party Rally in Joliet, I met Adam Andrzejewski. At the time he introduced himself as a candidate for Governor of Illinois. I asked him point blank if he was a Conservative, he answered yes I am. Eventually, he ran against machine candidate Pat Quinn and lost big. However, he did not stop his effort to make a difference in Illinois politics. His next venture is a website called “For the Good of Illinois.” Adam regularly exposes corruption at all levels. More recently he has uncovered a huge rip off by College of DuPage President and his Board of Directors. Mind you, College of DuPage is a Junior college not a four year college. Adam has been campaigning to have the President step down from his position, and the board responded with a $762,868.77 severance package. This money doesn’t include his State pension, but will increase what he gets. What is really hard to understand here is why a Junior College President’s salary is so high as to command three quarters of a million dollars in severance. I worked for a top rated manufacturing company in a management capacity and I know what hard working people make. Even the owner of our company did not take an exorbitant salary.; he chose to reinvest his money in the company. I know what a CEO of a company has to do to keep showing a profit, and the job is huge compared to that of a College President. So why is there such a disparity? Most likely it is because a college doesn’t have to show a profit, and can ask for money from the tax payer simply by playing the sympathy card that they need more money. Sadly, our state government is sympathetic to this kind of extortion. My guess is that under all this college level corruption are a number of State Representatives who are in on the action. I copied the latest report from Adam’s website below. It may seem a little disoriented because I could not transfer all the format. I suggest clicking on the link to get to the site and see it as he presented it.

Many folks will say why should I be interested in what is going on on Illinois at a Junior College level? It is my contention that with some searching as done by Adam you will un cover similar if not more egregious examples of corruption within your own community. The folks have learned that they can extract goodies from the population through taxes and are in on the action. I don’t care how much you like your kid’s teacher, I guarantee there is graft going on within your School District. Start by looking at salaries within the District and begin asking questions about why there are so many high paid people in your school administrations? The teachers get Jack Squat, but their management team has potential for some real money.

I thank Adam of this dogged pursuit of opening the books in Illinois, and showing us what is going on within our communities.

Over 75 regular people gave public comment for over three hours. Watch as I aggressively battled the legalities of this outrageous payment.

Our lawyers – Timothy Elliott, Charlie Philbrick, and Jordan Franklin – convinced Judge Bonnie Wheaton to force COD to open a large room to accommodate the 500 citizens. Read Chicago Tribune article

State Rep. Jack Franks (D- Marengo) threatened to withhold $1.25 million of state funding.

The pressure was intense on this college board… in fact, the board stood up (for the first time in three meetings) for the pledge of allegiance. The board blamed previous COD boards. Incredibly, Trustee Savage blamed the 500 citizens for not showing up– years earlier. Chairman Erin Birt repeatedly stated that she takes this stuff seriously. Really?

And then they rubber-stamped 6-1 the $762,868.77 severance package of the college President. Read Daily Herald recap story here.

The coalition united against this action was formidable and non-partisan. But, for many people in the audience, these were their supposed “friends” – a Republican majority board. The coalition feels sold out.

Last night, this board told the people that their voice doesn’t matter. In the April elections, three board seats are on the ballot. At the ballot box, the people must speak with their vote.

This Story Left Me Crying

During the course of my years on Earth I have seen many war movies. Beginning with WWII to Korea to Viet Nam, To Iraq, to Afghanistan, and some I have forgotten. Many of the WWII films were rah-rah propaganda movies that formed my opinion about the Germans and the Japanese.  Nevertheless, John Wayne, Jimmy Stewart, Rory Calhoun, all became super heroes in my mind. Today, I saw American Sniper and cried. In December I watched a short promo clip on the movie and decided this is one I had to see. My intuition was correct. I am glad I saw the film. The story is true and chronicles a true American from Texas. Raised in the country by strict parents who taught their sons not to start trouble, but if they were in trouble, or if one theirs was in trouble to come to their defense, and to end it. Kyle watched the twin towers fall after radical Islamists flew commercial airliners into the building. The incident caused him to serve his country, the rest is history.

It was easy to understand why this film has six nominations for Academy Awards including best picture of the year. It is easy to understand why the Academy nominated Bradley Cooper for best actor. I’ve seen Cooper in a couple of films, and each time I liked the way he played his character. In American Sniper he plays the role of Chris Kyle believably. To me if an actor can make me believe he is the character in the story he has succeeded in his craft. Cooper does so expertly. He also had to gain a lot of weight and muscle to look like a Navy Seal. He did that too.

His story is not all peaches and cream. Kyle’s drive to protect his fellow Marines from harm comes with a price to his own psyche. It became very clear that he progressively changed with each of his four tours of deployment. I give the VA doctor who finally out-physched him by suggesting that there are plenty of vets at home that he can protect.   The Doctor convinced him to use his energy to help fellow veterans disabled with PTSD. Kyle threw himself into the effort and that is what finally caused his death.

The Marines used Kyle as a sniper, and he was very good at it. However, Kyle did not think sniping saved enough people and he also served to conduct ground missions to clear the enemy from local hiding places. He was a well-rounded soldier.

There have been several people who made themselves news worthy by jumping on the Kyle story for their own benefit. It is my opinion that these people should lose their citizenship in the USA and be given one way tickets to live with the enemy in ISIS held territories. Who are these People?

1. Jesse Ventura, ex Navy Seal, professional wrestler, and former Governor of Minnesota accused Kyle as a liar. “Kyle wrote in his book, also titled American Sniper, about an incident in which he punched out a man in a bar for badmouthing the U.S. military. In a subsequent appearance on The O’Reilly Factor, Kyle identified Ventura as that man.” Ventura sued the Kyle estate for defamation, and won. Jesse continues to bad mouth Kyle as a liar, and not a hero. Leave it alone Jesse, the man is dead and your wrestling career is over, find a job shining the shoes of Liberal politicians.

2. Michael Moore, Documentary film producer and over eater made derogatory comments about Kyle. Still upset over his uncle being killed by a sniper during WWII, Moore resents making snipers into heroes. I have news for you Mr. Moore, a sniper is a weapon just like a hand grenade, or a bomb. The military uses the most effective weapon to get the job done. Kyle was acting out his orders. Oh Sure he could have turned down the assignment and been court martialed, but why even join the military if you refuse assignments.?

3. Seth Rogan, coward extraordinary who proudly made a movie about assassinating North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, and then went into hiding when North Korea hacked Sony Corp computers. In response, Sony took the movie off the market because of fear of retribution from North Korea.  Rogan compared American Sniper to Nazi propaganda.

4. Howard Dean, former Doctor, Governor of Vermont, Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, and a failed candidate for President. Is an outspoken Socialist who is so far left in his thinking he cannot understand another point of view like Conservatism. He invoked a lot of furor when he said the following:

“There’s a lot of anger in this country. And the people who go see this movie are people who are very angry,”

He was referring to Tea Party people when he said there is a lot of anger in this country. I agree with him, but the anger came after his comment not before.

American Sniper is a biography, a historical perspective, a documentary on the effect of war on the soldier, and his family, and an anti-war film all rolled up in the story of one man’s life.

We should all be proud of men like Chris Kyle who lived to protect us.

Was President George W. Bush a complete Idiot or What?

A week ago, my doctor prescribed that I get a medical test to find the cause of one of my many problems. Today, I called the local hospital to schedule the test. A pleasant woman took my information and asked if she could put me on hold for a minute to check the medical necessity of this test. “Sure,” I said. She went away for more than a few minutes. When she did return she apologized and said, “I’m sorry sir, but I am having trouble finding a code for this test. Please hold again while I talk to someone about a code. “Sure,” I said again. Another long silence. Finally she returned and said, “I can not figure out if  this test is medically necessary; I will have to fax your doctor for more information. Knowing full well what was going on, I kept my cool and asked “what happens if there is no code for medical necessity?”

“Your insurance will not pay and you will be liable for the cost.”

“Just out of curiosity, what is the cost of this test?”

“It is $1421.40. Do you want me to ask your doctor for the medical necessity?”

“Yes, of course, please do.” I hope my doctor understands his judgement is being over-ruled by a ACA computer. Maybe I should suggest he go back to medical school to learn what new-age medicine is all about.

“Please call us back within a couple of days to learn what the last word is.”

“I will do that.”

All the while the rusty wheels in my head are turning faster, and faster. The Obama Care effect has finally showed up. I suggest to my liberal friends who brag about the free medical care they got by voting for Obama, be aware. When you reach my age or older, they put you on the medical unnecessary list. Just take an aspirin and skip going to the doctor for help. You no longer matter enough for Uncle to spend money on you.

No one heard the facts when the Obama Care fiasco ran through the country like an Ebola virus gone wild. All they heard was “free.” The one fact I heard is that Obama stole 500 billion dollars from the Medicare fund toward the Affordable Care Act. What grinds my ass is all the talk about healthcare being a right. Just today, I heard Joe Biden mouthing about healthcare being a right. What also grinds my ass is all the bull shit about equal rights for everybody; except, that is, for the aged. Free health care for the aged means when you are over 75 you should schedule yourself to die because you will begin to cost Uncle some serious money. If there ever was an argument for age discrimination the ACA is it.

So, my liberal friends, enjoy your free healthcare while you are young and healthy. I hope it is everything you ever dreamed of, and keeps you alive and well until you become 75.

Army Lieutenant Clint Lorance Gets 19 Years at Ft. Levenworth because He defended his Troops against Islamic Jihadists

I never served in the army, and would never want to serve in any army that places stupid rules of engagement upon their people. The enemy gets to use whatever rules it makes up in the field, but we have to use pussy rules adopted by a Commander inChief who has only sympathy for the enemy.
