Blue State Blues

flag-fireworks1In 2009 when I attended my first Tea Party Rally in Joliet, I met Adam Andrzejewski. At the time he introduced himself as a candidate for Governor of Illinois. I asked him point blank if he was a Conservative, he answered yes I am. Eventually, he ran against machine candidate Pat Quinn and lost big. However, he did not stop his effort to make a difference in Illinois politics. His next venture is a website called “For the Good of Illinois.” Adam regularly exposes corruption at all levels. More recently he has uncovered a huge rip off by College of DuPage President and his Board of Directors. Mind you, College of DuPage is a Junior college not a four year college. Adam has been campaigning to have the President step down from his position, and the board responded with a $762,868.77 severance package. This money doesn’t include his State pension, but will increase what he gets. What is really hard to understand here is why a Junior College President’s salary is so high as to command three quarters of a million dollars in severance. I worked for a top rated manufacturing company in a management capacity and I know what hard working people make. Even the owner of our company did not take an exorbitant salary.; he chose to reinvest his money in the company. I know what a CEO of a company has to do to keep showing a profit, and the job is huge compared to that of a College President. So why is there such a disparity? Most likely it is because a college doesn’t have to show a profit, and can ask for money from the tax payer simply by playing the sympathy card that they need more money. Sadly, our state government is sympathetic to this kind of extortion. My guess is that under all this college level corruption are a number of State Representatives who are in on the action. I copied the latest report from Adam’s website below. It may seem a little disoriented because I could not transfer all the format. I suggest clicking on the link to get to the site and see it as he presented it.

Many folks will say why should I be interested in what is going on on Illinois at a Junior College level? It is my contention that with some searching as done by Adam you will un cover similar if not more egregious examples of corruption within your own community. The folks have learned that they can extract goodies from the population through taxes and are in on the action. I don’t care how much you like your kid’s teacher, I guarantee there is graft going on within your School District. Start by looking at salaries within the District and begin asking questions about why there are so many high paid people in your school administrations? The teachers get Jack Squat, but their management team has potential for some real money.

I thank Adam of this dogged pursuit of opening the books in Illinois, and showing us what is going on within our communities.

Over 75 regular people gave public comment for over three hours. Watch as I aggressively battled the legalities of this outrageous payment.

Our lawyers – Timothy Elliott, Charlie Philbrick, and Jordan Franklin – convinced Judge Bonnie Wheaton to force COD to open a large room to accommodate the 500 citizens. Read Chicago Tribune article

State Rep. Jack Franks (D- Marengo) threatened to withhold $1.25 million of state funding.

The pressure was intense on this college board… in fact, the board stood up (for the first time in three meetings) for the pledge of allegiance. The board blamed previous COD boards. Incredibly, Trustee Savage blamed the 500 citizens for not showing up– years earlier. Chairman Erin Birt repeatedly stated that she takes this stuff seriously. Really?

And then they rubber-stamped 6-1 the $762,868.77 severance package of the college President. Read Daily Herald recap story here.

The coalition united against this action was formidable and non-partisan. But, for many people in the audience, these were their supposed “friends” – a Republican majority board. The coalition feels sold out.

Last night, this board told the people that their voice doesn’t matter. In the April elections, three board seats are on the ballot. At the ballot box, the people must speak with their vote.

I got to thinking about those trillions the government is throwing at earmark projects called stimulus. I asked myself how many people could a trillion dollars really help?  I looked at three items that people spend money on: house, car, and college education.

Here is how it works out:

1. How many $200,000.00  houses can one buy for a trillion? A two hundred thousand dollar house is probably affordable for most of the population.

ans: Five million

2. How many cars valued at $25,000.00 each? Not a Lexus or Cadillac, but a Ford Focus will get you to where you need to go.

ans: Forty million.

3. How many students could spend $40,000.00 on college tuition?  This one assumes you spend three hundred dollars per credit hour and you require one hundred and thirty credits to get a degree, and live with your parents.

ans: Twenty five  million five hundred thousand.

A trillion dollars given away in this fashion would most likely stimulate the economy. Instead we will direct the money through a filter called “government.”  The end result will be that only a third will get to the consumer. The remainder will be lost in management fees. In big government management fees are more commonly referred to as GRAFT.

What BHO failed to tell the people of the USA is that his redistribution of wealth will make everyone in the country a slave. By robbing the rich to give to the poor, the result will make everyone poor.

The direction of the country toward “Change You Can Believe In,” will bankrupt the treasury. The end result is that the greatest country in the history of the earth will become  a slave to the countries who buy our debt.

Barack likes to compare himself to Abraham Lincoln. While Lincoln freed a small number of the population who were slaves, Barack will enslave the entire country. How will that happen?

We will borrow the money from China or other countries. In order for them to loan us the money, we will have to make it worth their while. We will have to pay higher interest. Higher interest will mean that the government has less money to pay for the programs that they have legislated into law. In other words if it takes a trillion dollars to run the country, we’ll now have to add the interest to that.  Where will the government get the extra money? They have two ways: 1. Pass the expense to the tax payer by increasing his contribution. 2. Print more money to cover the bill. This means that your money is worth less than it was before. I already have trouble making ends meet on my fixed income.

Here is what the interest payment looks like on a trillion dollars:

Interest rate-percent   interest payment
2   20,000,000,000.0
3   30,000,000,000.0
4   40,000,000,000.0
5   50,000,000,000.0
6   60,000,000,000.0
7   70,000,000,000.0
8   80,000,000,000.0
9   90,000,000,000.0
10   100,000,000,000.0

In case you have a problem reading all those zeros, they are billions.

Mark my words, this country is headed for another civil war with the rampant spending under this president. Isn’t civil war another issue that Lincoln had to deal with?

Vote Early, Vote Often

My Flag Flies Everyday

My Flag Flies Everyday

I grew up in Chicago, and have lived in the suburbs as an adult. Chicago politics is strictly democratic. The suburbs, or collar communities are republican. That is changing now, as the black population spreads into the south, southwestern, and western suburbs. The demographics have shifted into a democratic population.

I grew up with the saying, “vote early, and vote often.” Anyone who grew up here knows exactly what that means, and will find it funny. The truth is, it is a sad reflection on our society. The twentieth century Democratic Machine worked diligently to win votes, and became noted for buying elections by any means. Precinct captains bought votes with a drink. If a voter hustled, he could put on a package while doing his “civic” duty.

Chicago is called “a city that works,” but it is rife with graft and corruption. Any politician who tries to “reform” the machine is soundly defeated in either the election, or in attempts to make things happen. It is my opinion that BO has been an astute student of Chicago Machine tactics. BO’s effort to use ACORN to buy votes is typical of the “vote early, vote often,” menatlity of Machine Politics. This tactic does win elections, but does that make it right? Does the end justify the means? Do we really want socialism so badly, that we will prostitute ourselves for it?

We all get one vote, unless we buy another from some devious merchant who wants to “make change you can believe in.”

This morning, the Ohio Secretary of State has filed an emergency appeal with the Supreme Court to get off the hook. It seems that ACORN has done an outstanding job of applying the Chicago principle of “Vote Early, Vote Often.” Unfortunately, the Ohio Secretary of State has to verify the new registrations. She has two hundred thousand that are in question. By Federal Law, she must verify all of them. Most likely, all of these registrations are potential votes for BO. (Isn’t it funny, that we haven’t heard of a single ACORN voter registration that is Republican.) She is out of time, so she ran to the Supreme Court. My guess is that the Court will crumble under pressure from ACORN and the ACLU, and allow the votes.

Call me racist folks, because I’m voting for a conservative, not because he is white, but because he shares my personal philosophy.

On the bright side, there is a big party happening in Ohio. Think of all the folks that are enjoying the buzz from their free drinks.
