Why Obama Won’t Compromise

This is a simple question to answer. He has already compromised the bill by giving in and delaying company participation, allowing Congress to stay out, and many others. The problem is that his compromises are with himself, they are all done illegally, and without anyone else’s approval.

All I hear is how bad Congress is by sending all these useless bills before the Senate knowing full well the Senate will not approve them. What Congress is doing is representing the people. The last history lesson I took while they still taught history was that Congressmen represent the people.

I did some math today and calculated that each congressman represents about 703,709 people. The bill they passed to defund the ACA passed 231 to 192. My math says they are speaking for 162,556,779 people. That number of constituents is 54.6% of the total populace. I’d say they are doing a fine damn job of speaking for us. The problem is that the President and the Senate know better what is good for us than we do.

We have one option; vote them out. We all have one vote but we also have feet and a voice. If we walk our neighborhoods knocking on doors to talk to our neighbors with facts we will magnify our voting effect.

If the government shuts down those workers forced to stay at home may get to know what it feels like to lose a job like the 11.3 million private sector workers who are still unemployed. Unfortunately, that is a bad example because the government people will resume working when they resolve the funding bill, and those who have to work without pay will receive back pay.

While we struggle to kill a bad law Great Britain implements new rules allowing people to buy health care they cannot get in their government system. Could it be we are right and Obama and his socialist Democrat Senate are all wrong?

The Goal Was Not To Lose

My latest book is not fiction, it is history. Specifically, Revolutionary Summer deals with the short period of May through September of 1776. Joseph Ellis does a remarkable job of chronicling the people and the events leading to America’s independence from Great Britain. One thing that impressed me is the significant role played by John Adams in orchestrating the separation of the American Colonies from the British Empire. Most of us like to believe that Thomas Jefferson was the primary author of the Declaration of Independence, but it was John Adams who master minded the Declaration and Jefferson who translated Adams ideas into words. There is a wonderful movie covering this same subject called “1776.”

This story depicts the difficult task ahead of George Washington as he leads the Continental Army, a band of amateurs, against the élite and experienced British military. Washington makes a critical mistake at the beginning of the war when he encamped his entire army on Manhattan Island in New York. The British fleet arrives with thirty thousand men, and also lands on the island. The armada of ships loaded with firepower and supplies lay just off the shore ready on a moments notice to move to where ever they would be needed.

Washington’s biggest task is to avoid being annihilated, and/or captured. He wrestles with losing his honor and that of his army because he knows the practical thing to do is to retreat from the island to the mainland.

I saw similarities to 1776 and 2013 while reading this story. An unorganized, untrained, poorly armed band of zealots stand-off against the world’s most powerful country. In my mind I see a band of Tea Party Patriots and Militias standing tall against the world’s largest, strongest , and richest country. Maybe it won’t happen in my lifetime, but we are on a track to having to stand up for what we believe. Our first line of attack is through the ballot box knowing that if that does not work, the next step will be . . .

Here are the 25 Senate cave in RINO’s who voted to allow Harry Reid (D-NV) and the Democrats to fund Obamacare today

The Insanity of Passing a Bill To Know What Is In It

In March of 2010,  Democrat Representative Nancy Pelosi from California said this; “But we have to pass the bill so that you can find out what is in it.” Here we are four years later after stupidly passing the bill, and we still don’t really know what is in it.

I have a few criticisms of the Affordable Care Act bill. First is the lack of leadership displayed by the President to implement the Bill. As Chief Engineer for a major private sector company for over thirty years it was my responsibility to carry out many high dollar projects. I know the value of a good project manager. Obama does not have one. By the way, who is responsible for implementing the new health care system? It took us ten years to put a man on the moon, and we started way behind the point of where the health care system is today. In my mind the ACA project manager is a complete and total failure, as is his boss. The best I could find on the PM is the CHS is responsible for hiring Project Managers to implement exchanges. After three years and six months don’t you think there would be someone in charge who knows what the heck is going on?

A second criticism I have of the ACA is the level of taxing that has gone on since its inception. By now there is enough money in the coffers to pay off the sixteen trillion-dollar national debt. My guess is the ACA till is empty. No liberal in his right mind will allow money to accumulate for anything. Money is for spending which Democrats do very well.

The third problem I have with this bill is the way the Senate changed the rules to pass it. Shouldn’t a bill of such major consequences would need a two-thirds majority vote to pass?

Yesterday, after the Senate again pulled a sneaky maneuver called cloture to allow members to vote for defunding Obama Care. Actually, all they voted for was to end the debate and to take a vote. The vote to defund Obama Care won, but it isn’t really a bill. Within five minutes, The Majority Leader stripped the defund Obama Care language from the draft and they voted again to keep the government running and to fund Obama Care. This time the bill passed. Do you see the irony in this trick? Pass a cloture that says defund Obama Care. This gives a Senator a cover to brag to constituents that he voted to defund Obama Care. Yet, not ten minutes later the same bastard votes to fund Obama Care. The vote he will use to campaign on is the cloture vote. He will never mention his vote on the actual bill to defund ACA.

After the vote, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid made a comment directed at me, and people like me.

“Obama Care has been the law for four years. Why don’t they get a life and talk about something else? Reid said at a press conference after the Senate passed a short-term resolution to fund the government and fund Obamacare.”

Well Harry, we are still trying to learn what the hell the ACA is. What little we do know is not very good. So far, we know it is destroying jobs, and killing the economy, which is just what smart Senators like you want American citizens to endure.  What we want is a complete repeal and a do over. Of course that will not satisfy the liberal mind. Liberals will insist that the mysterious ACA remain law until planet earth collides with the sun. ACA will become the same rock solid bureaucracy like the EPA, DHS, DEd, DAg, and the remaining useless agencies sucking money out of the few of us who still believe in working for a living. God forbid a Senator should recognize an error and make it right.

My conclusion is this: Democrats think the American people are a bunch of illiterate drooling nerds who need spoon feeding through the bars of their cages. What I think is that all Democrat Senators, Congressmen, and the Democrat President must be dumped into a vat of tar,  feathered, and made to kneel before the country and publicly apologize for being complete assholes.

Harry Reid, Obama, and Nancy would like to believe the Tea Party is dead. Currently, the Tea Party is quiet, but not dead despite Obama Administration efforts to block them.  The Tea Party grows in strength while strategizing the Conservative resurrection of America.

In conclusion, voting for a bill to learn what is in it does not border on insanity, it is insane. Since the liberals in government had such strong backing to make the ACA happen, I can only conclude that the liberal side of the country suffers from severe mental deficiency.

Cars, Cars, Cars, and More Cars

This has been an awful summer for me. The 2013 Monet Vision escaped being photographed, Peggy and I did not leave home for anything,, and I failed to visit a single Cruise Night in Frankfort. Maybe it was latent grief creeping out on the tenth anniversary of Barb’s death, or maybe it was a lower back pain that wouldn’t quit, or maybe learning that I suffer from Low T, or maybe it is simply because I reached middle age, whatever, the summer blues took over my mind and body.

Today, a good friend sent me a video link, that cheered me and picked me up beyond my expectations. I only wish he could have done it earlier, like in June. The video features a very large car show in Minnesota, touted as the largest in the world. The cars are amazing and beautiful. If you grew up in the fifties like I did, this video was like traveling back in time. Take a peek and enjoy these mobile works of art.
