People With A Mind Can Discern For Themselves

My favorite columnist Thomas Sowell has posted an excellent essay titled “Who Shut Down The Government?”

Sowell  doesn’t really answer the question directly, but he does lay out the facts about what Congress can and cannot do. Most people with a mind will be able to discern for themselves what the answer is. I tried to re-blog the essay here but could not, and I didn’t want to steal it with a cut and paste so I have to ask you to click on the link and read the article.

Sowell rightly points out that the Democrat complaint that Congress should pass a “clean” bill somehow implies that Congress is putting something dirty in front of the Senate. Americans complain that Congress is not doing its job. Congress has very low poll ratings. I support that Congress is doing its job per the Constitutional mandate. The mis-interpretation comes from the Constitutional Lecturer-in-Chief himself.

What scares the hell out of me is how stupidly people buy into the lies being told to convince the them of the wonders of the Affordable Care Act.

Ley me know what you think. Who is responsible?

The Most Non-Essential

President Barack Obama and the First Lady Mich...

Yesterday I posted about which essential services I would furlough during the government shut down. Today, I make a point for who are the most expendable and least essential staff in our government.  Michelle Obama, wife of the president has but one obligation, i.e. to keep a smile on the man’s face. She should concentrate on screwing his brains out every night and should not need a staff of twenty-four during the day time. What the hell does she do with these people? Why does she need them? Yea, I know she needs the money. Well so do eleven million out of work people who are straining to feed families. She does not need a nickel nor does she deserve to get paid for her “services,” what-ever they are.

I forgot, she has instructed us and the school kids of America on what to eat. That is really essential to the well being of the country.

Why Obama Won’t Compromise

This is a simple question to answer. He has already compromised the bill by giving in and delaying company participation, allowing Congress to stay out, and many others. The problem is that his compromises are with himself, they are all done illegally, and without anyone else’s approval.

All I hear is how bad Congress is by sending all these useless bills before the Senate knowing full well the Senate will not approve them. What Congress is doing is representing the people. The last history lesson I took while they still taught history was that Congressmen represent the people.

I did some math today and calculated that each congressman represents about 703,709 people. The bill they passed to defund the ACA passed 231 to 192. My math says they are speaking for 162,556,779 people. That number of constituents is 54.6% of the total populace. I’d say they are doing a fine damn job of speaking for us. The problem is that the President and the Senate know better what is good for us than we do.

We have one option; vote them out. We all have one vote but we also have feet and a voice. If we walk our neighborhoods knocking on doors to talk to our neighbors with facts we will magnify our voting effect.

If the government shuts down those workers forced to stay at home may get to know what it feels like to lose a job like the 11.3 million private sector workers who are still unemployed. Unfortunately, that is a bad example because the government people will resume working when they resolve the funding bill, and those who have to work without pay will receive back pay.

While we struggle to kill a bad law Great Britain implements new rules allowing people to buy health care they cannot get in their government system. Could it be we are right and Obama and his socialist Democrat Senate are all wrong?

An Irrational, but Rational Argument

Photo of a police officer, Boston, USA

During today’s headline review one in particular caught me square between the eyes; “Boston Bomber Memorialized as Gun Victim by Bloomberg’s Anti-Gun Movement.” What? I thought we were only crying over poor little school kids killed by crazies? Since when do we memorialize a radical Islamic terrorist shot and killed  by a very legitimate officer of the law in a state where guns are forbidden. Had this same terrorist been shot in Arizona or Texas, he would have been by a citizen.

What I am about to say will no doubt raise the hairs of all police officers in the  country, let “We the People” keep our guns, but disarm the police. The best facts I could dig up from the notoriously incorrect internet is that in year 2012, police officers  nation-wide shot and killed 587 perps in the line of duty. Had we denied police the right to carry a gun, we would have saved 587 people from an ugly death. Think of all the good those people might have done for society. Compare that to losing twenty-six kids to the bullets of a crazy person. Yes, those twenty-six little angels could have grown up to become the greatest and best people on the face of the earth, but a crazy person chose to memorialize his suicide by killing them. I can argue the same for the 587 killed by police in the line of duty. How will we know if one of the 587 might have straightened out to become the country’s next president?

This analogy is preposterous and far-fetched to make a point, i.e. we can argue senseless deaths until we are blue in the face, and never stop innocent people from being killed by bullets. (Remember all the perps killed by the cops were innocent until proven guilty). Here is a question to consider? If we take away every gun from Americans, will we do the same to the police?  Remember, if we disarm the cops we have to take away the second concealed weapon he carries, and the third he might have in his car too, or else who knows what might happen in the dead of night.

Here are some more ways to look at the argument.

In 2011, there were  32,163 reported gun related deaths caused by “We the People.” In that same year the cops killed 587 with bullets. When I compared the ratio of deaths by the total police officers to the total number of officers employed, the police won. There are 683,396 police employed in the US over a population of 313,900,000 souls. Death by a cop’s gun comes to .08% where deaths by “We the People” is .01%. What this tells me is that we are eight times more likely to die by the gun of a police officer than by the gun of another citizen crazy or not.

A few days ago, our Senate narrowly defeated a bill to pass the United Nations Treaty to ban guns which Obama will purportedly sign. The Progressives hell-bent on destroying the sovereignty of the United States by handing over our Second Amendment to the virtuous United Nations lost by a mere four votes. Thank God there were a few Democrat Senators who still love the country. My own Senator Durbin from Illinois voted for the gun ban treaty. In my eyes he is a traitor. In my eyes, Obama will commit an impeachable offense by signing that treaty, it also makes him a traitor. All that treaty will do is to make America more vulnerable to those trying to destroy us. The treaty violates the Second Amendment . The President took an oath to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution, which he will violate by signing the treaty. Of course, he realizes he is making a political argument against those opposed to the violation. He knew the treaty would never pass through Congress.

Here are my proposals:

Keep the Constitution

Keep the Bill of Rights, but add one more to:

1. limit the total number  terms a Senator  and Congressman can serve,

2. delegate “We the People” to approve all raises and fringe benefits awarded to the Congress,

3. impose upon all Leaders, including the President, the same health care and pensions as “We the People”,

4. includes Leaders to live under the same laws as “We the People,”

5. hold all Leaders financially, morally, and ethically responsible for laws they passed for the duration of their life,

6. limit the total wealth a Leader can accumulate while serving to that equal to his salary by the number of years he serves.

7. limit Congressional staff to whatever the home State or District appropriates

8. define the term “natural born citizen,” and require proof of same by those running for office

Lose Obama

Lose the Progressives.

CAN I HAVE AN AMEN?

Evidently the President believes two things:

1.) The Sequester invented by Obama and signed into law by him supersedes the Mayan Calendar

2.) The Pope’s retirement shifts the papal privilege to speak infallibly to him.

President Obama’s refusal to follow the Constitution which deliberately set up three equal branches of government had him flying around the country at the mere cost of 175,000 dollars per hour to convince us, the American sheeple, that he didn’t invent the sequester and that if we don’t get him out of this jam it is  the end of the liberal give aways. The truth is the Sequester cuts are so small that the government spills that much liquor and food at the White House parties every month.

The President should have vetoed the bill, instead he signed it into law. The fact that Congress chooses not to write a new law to drop the Sequester is within their the power, and they are  renouncing the President’s feverish and greedy money grab. In this case, doing nothing is exactly the right thing to do. As Obama has told us repeatedly, “elections have consequences” he is learning that stupid moves by a president also have consequences. Long live the Sequester.

I’m getting on my knees to say my act of contrition tonight since the Sequester goes into effect at midnight, and America will end because Obama spoke infallibly when he said that.

A Balanced Approach

Air Force One is Up for Sale

All I hear about is a balanced approach when it comes to deciding how to deal with America’s budget, deficit, and spending. What I have seen happen is different. The balance goes this way:

The President proposes tax increases, and Congress rubber stamps it; see it is balanced!

My proposal is this:

I will willingly pay more taxes if I get a law that holds the entire 535 members of our government, President included, responsible for the fiscal responsibility of the country. What that means is that we fire all 535 without pensions if they fail to balance the budget and run without a deficit each year they are in office. I also propose that past legislators who are no longer in office who had anything even remotely to do with a budget failure lose their pensions immediately.

I also propose the President be limited in the amount of travel he may take. With modern technology being what it is there is absolutely no reason for him to leave the oval office to do business of any kind. In other words let him work like most private sector workers. Remember the traveling salesman? He doesn’t travel too much anymore. He does business via the internet, and a smart phone.

The President should speak to foreign leaders via Skype, or face to face via his desk top computer. All meetings are done via “Go to Meeting.” Since the Divided States of America is the world’s richest and strongest nation it should use its technology to become the world’s most efficient government as well. Efficiency must become the by-word. The 535 must work diligently to cut costs by reducing the workforce not by increasing it. We must amend the Constitution to add Government Productivity as a requirement. Congressional leaders will receive million dollar bonuses for cost reducing a bureaucracy by a billion dollars or more. Now that is balance folks, cut costs get a bonus. The old carrot on a stick concept at its finest.

Instead of using these tried-and-true principles, the 535 will try to outsmart one another with new weasel-words intended to confuse and bewilder the rest of us.

My good friend Al spent considerable time last week researching what our real debt is. He came up with ninety-trillion dollars. It took a lot of red wine  before he came up with a balanced solution. Here is the easy math: Divide 90,000,000,000,000 by 300,000,000. What is your answer? Mine is three hundred thousand. The solution is for each person living in the DSA to pay $300,000 to the Treasury toward all the unfunded pensions and commitments of the 535.  That is the fairest way to solve the problem and to start with the new ideas proposed above. For a family of five that is a mere one and a half million dollars. You can do it, I know you can.

Congress, Do Your Job, Can Him.

When the Founding Fathers came together to build this country, they knew that human nature would always tempt politicians to go astray. They pondered about the congress having too much power, and if that happened Congress would control the country by its legislative power thus nullifying the executive and judicial branches. In a stroke of genius, they came up with the three branches having equal but separate power.

What happens when one of the three branches usurps the power of the others? In the year 2012 nothing. Our Congress and Supreme Court are abdicating power to the Executive Branch. This very plainly pisses me off, and it should you too.

Our President -0 is doing just that. He is rough riding over Congress and has tried with some success to do it with the Supreme Court too. Where is Congress in this matter? Instead of the Executive administering the government by the laws enacted, it is doing it by executive fiat, the Executive Order. Where is Congress? Why are they not outraged? Why are they not holding the President’s feet to the fire?

Well Grumpa Joe, you are just a fanatic racist who doesn’t like this president because he is black. Bullshit.

I despise this president and all before him who refuse to control our southern border.

I despise this president because he sided with a foreign government (Mexico)  in a lawsuit against a State in the Union (Arizona).

I despise this president because he devised a clandestine program to set the country up to destroy the Second Amendment; he called his program Fast and Furious. When Congress did finally act against him, he declared his papers confidential under executive privilege. We accused President Nixon of burglarizing an office, and he was relentlessly pursued by the press and Congress until he resigned in disgrace over the matter. Nixon’s act did not result in Border Agents being killed with guns we allowed to cross the border.

I despise this president because he refuses to acknowledge a need for voter identification, but demands attendees to his speeches verify their identity with official ID’s.

I despise this president because he pretends to deport illegal aliens, but is only putting them into a holding pattern until they can disappear into the underground of the USA.

I despise this president because he tolerates Sanctuary Cities in order to hide and protect illegals.

I despise this president because he has taken the Welfare Reform Act and arbitrarily gutted a major requirement without any discussion by Congress or the Supreme Court. Why isn’t the Congress filing suit to bring this to the SC?

I despise this president because he places more credence in the hopeless United Nations than he does in the US Congress.

I despise this president because he deliberately usurped the First Amendment right of freedom of religion in his omnipotent health care act.

I despise the president for his sneaky and lawless way using the UN over his own Congress to get our military involved in Libya, and Syria.

I despise the President for allowing special interest groups to control his agenda.

I despise the president for a stupid green jobs program that dictates his energy policy.

I despise the president for using agencies like the EPA to sneak regulations into effect that usurp  Congress.

I despise this president for taking over a private sector company to reward his supporters.

I despise this president for believing all people are too stupid to take care of themselves. What ever happened to Maslow’s hierarchy of needs and human potential?

I despise this president’s demonization of capitalism and the rich. I can only wonder why he hates himself so much? After all, he is rich and he uses the capitalist system to sell his phony life story.

I despise this president for wanting to make the USA into Europe.  Europe has been working at light speed to catch up and be like the USA while remaining socialist; which by the way, is proving to be a disaster for them.

I despise this president for declaring that America is not a Christian Nation.

I despise this president for bowing to foreign leaders.

I despise this president for being a pansy with Iran.

I despise this president for throwing Israel under the bus. Have you looked at a map of the mid-east? Israel is a small dot in a vastly huge area. They are surrounded by Arabs. Why are the Arabs so bent on annihilating them? Why is this president so bent on letting that happen?

So where the hell in Congress in all of this? Why don’t they wake up and do something to show us they are an equal entity? Why don’t they bring impeachment proceedings against the president? They are totally afraid to even utter the word. I realize that there are two houses in Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate. The Fathers wanted debate and argument between both houses on laws. They required  both houses to agree on a law before it can be enacted. Unfortunately, at this moment we have a Democrat Senate, and a Republican House of Representatives. The House of Representatives has passed many laws but they are stonewalled by the Senate. What we see in this process is exactly what the Founders envisioned.

What we need is a creative House that determines how to ally with the Senate or the Supreme Court to get past the blockages that make it seem inept. What we need is a Newt Gingrich to consult on the matter, he would know how to provoke the two houses into action.

Many of my rants above are impeachable offenses, but where is Congress?  They are out looking for Mitt Romney’s tax returns, and  attacking Republicans for a comment made by candidate Aiken about abortion. At the same time they stick their heads into the sand about our president’s record on late-term abortion and saving babies who live in spite of a botched abortion attempts.

Folks, we have a huge job ahead of us, but it can be accomplished. How? Just like a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step, this one begins with firing President -0.
