Pike Paired With a Cab Rated 92

It is Friday evening, and I am digesting a wonderful dinner of Walleye Pike paired with a 92 rated Cabernet. Spoiling this reverie is news that peaked this week.

First is democrat hypocrisy on the rule of law. Democrats pay attention only to laws that are to their benefit, and only when it is to the their advantage. For example they pay no heed to immigration laws. It is to their advantage to increase voters, and the law be damned if the new voters are citizens or not. People on our side of the border are voters right? Wrong, only those who are citizens have the right to vote. Several thousand migrants are sneaking into the country this month. The sneaking part means they are here illegally.

A second hypocrisy is the law against racial hatred. This law only works when a white man commits a hate crime against a black man. When it involves a black man committing a hoax against a white man it is okay. One Jussie Smollett got off free this week after someone interfered with his prosecution. In my book he had some help from a friend who remains unknown and this smacks of black privilege. I’m sorry, it is only white privilege that counts in the court of racial law.

The third item really frosted my attitude. Our former Attorney General Eric Holder, Obama’s shill who enforced only laws that gave O an advantage over the white guys. Eric, today, stated that America was never great. Excuse me? Where have you been living dude? If America is so bad get your skinny ass out of the country to somewhere that is great. When you get there send me a note I may want to join you because this country has too many ungrateful dudes like you who thrive on hate. How did you get so rich and educated? Was it because America didn’t give you advantages?

Eric Holder ignored laws even when he was in charge of upholding all the laws of the country. His primary focus seemed to be promoting black privilege as a way of getting back at the white man for having slaves during the period of history when it was fashionable to own slaves. Forget about all the countries in the world that believed slaves were property to own, and absolutely forget about the countries of today that still believe in owning slaves. His only bitch is about our country built by a bunch of guys who owned slaves two hundred and forty-three years ago. After all that time he really thinks he will change the world by getting rid of our Constitution in favor of a system where on man rules all. In this case he would let his people run amok while oppressing whites just to get even.

The fourth item is a campaign plank being promulgated by at least one candidate, i.e. reparation for all blacks. Give them money because they are the descendants of slaves. This idea is not new and people love it. Who wouldn’t? Since the entire country was slave built with sweat they deserve a piece of the wealth let’s estimate the value of the country and divide it among the descendants. The problem I have with this is when do they stop the extortion?  What is to say that when the initial descendants get reparation dies off, that new generations will climb on the same band wagon. It is my opinion that the pain suffered by today’s young slave relatives is minimal at best. Any reparation they would get doesn’t change the suffering of their great-great-great grandparents.

The racial divide still exists but it is radically changed for the better. It is an evolutionary process, and the government has accelerated it by adding civil rights laws, hate laws, equal opportunity laws, and affirmative action laws. All these laws are reparation giving the slave generations a hand up.

Now it is time for the disadvantaged to begin assimilating into the culture. Millions are doing that, but there are guys like Eric Holder who are not satisfied with progress. It is time for guys like Eric and Jussie to man up and get their people who aren’t making progress to make the same progress they have made. At the same time it is time for Jussie and Eric to make further progress by using their personal skills and to leave the race card off the table.

Fifty-Fifty Split

The more I read arguments by various factions within our country the more convinced I am that Americans have lost the ability to compromise. This morning I opted to read the Freedom Fighter published by the NRA. Of course the opinion pieces all targeted why we should continue to own guns. My stance on that is they are right. I have owned a gun since age fourteen when my older brother, then in the army, gifted me with a Winchester .22 caliber rifle.

I had a lot of fun with that rifle, as did my family. Whenever we had a family gathering at my parent’s farm we used the rifle in a competition. It was all in fun, and my brother, brother-in-law, and I taught our kids the rules of gun safety. I am a firm believer in gun ownership, and the Second Amendment. I don’t think my pea shooter will go far against an army destined to put me down when I rebel against a tyrannical government, but I will die fighting for my rights.

Reading the arguments for and against gun ownership caused me to think of the splits in out country. All of us has something we believe in and we are all right. None of us believes the other guy is correct. None of us believes the other guy will compromise on any of our rights. The rights of people who believe in guns is as strong as the right of the person who believes no one should own a gun. There are other divides among us, like the current head to head clash between Christians and Muslims. Both groups believe there is but one God, but both believe their God is the right one, even though God is the same Being. Both groups believe their belief is the only one. Another major split is in our beliefs of government systems. Liberals want to be controlled by government while Conservatives believe in very limited government, and the arguments go one, but there is no compromise. The worst split is between those who believe in the rule of law and those who believe they should ignore any law that they think is stupid, like borders, and illegal immigration.

I truly believe that these people are all right. Not all of us are bad, but our belief systems collide. What then, is the answer?

The US Constitution is the controlling doctrine. It is the one compelling set of truths that has the power to neutralize all the dividing factions among us. Except of course those who don’t think the Constitution has any meaning. The result is that we will be fighting against each other endlessly. Hopefully, the country will hold together while we sort things out.

When President Obama took office in 2008, and all the liberal liberals appeared from nowhere I predicted the country would end the argument in civil war. We are having that civil war now. We are not shooting yet, but the arguments to take our guns away are a way to neutralize our ability to win the war.

Rifle, Colorado

Billed as the safest bar in America. This place is somewhat contrary to the gun abolishing anti-NRA Progressive government in Colorado. Clearly, the residents of the state are not in agreement with their politicians, at least not those who frequent Shooters Grill. Nevertheless, Colorado state elections come out different. The big cities of Denver and Colorado Springs must have a huge effect on the vote.

Asparagus and Uranium

The sign of a great writer is the ability to create interesting and real characters, and to place them into interesting situations. I just completed reading a book titled The Accidental Further Adventures of the 100 Year Old Man. Writer Jonas Jonasson lives in Sweden and crafted a superb story around two elements; asparagus and uranium. He included world leaders like Trump, Merkel, Putin, Rocket-man Kim Jong un, and others to embellish the story. In my opinion he lost points by making Trump a doofus. Other than that bit of bias I enjoyed the story because it was intriguing and funny. The idea of a one hundred year old man going on adventures drew me in.

So how were asparagus and uranium involved? A side kick of the hundred year old man grew and sold asparagus and the two of them happened upon a suitcase filled with nine pounds of enriched uranium headed for North Korea. Jonasson wove a complicated tale and made it all come together in the end.

Hate!

What ever happened to my right to hate? The perfect world being implemented by a mindless Left is one of utter boredom. When we are all drones per the leftist rules how will we be entertained?  We will all have the same amount of money to spend, the same schools, the same jobs, the same politically correct language, the same boring lives.

To me, hatred is an emotion seated deep within my soul. It resides there waiting for the right set of circumstances to trigger a feeling deeply rooted in dislike. Hatred is a useful emotion which can allow a person to relieve some high pressure angst.

Can we really regulate an emotion by law? If so, that means we can also regulate love. When will the liberal world come to realize that one cannot make one person love another. By the same logic they won’t be able to make someone hate another. However, there are two laws taught by Jesus, “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like unto it. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself . . .” Neither of these two laws will find their way into a formal law of the USA.

The current flap about the new muslim congresswoman Ilhan Omar expressing her hatred for jews has been in the news non-stop. What we all fail to understand is that Islam and Judaism are religions and protected by the First Amendment. That same amendment also dictates we keep state and religion separate. In my mind that makes congresswoman Ilhan guilty of violating the First amendment by promoting her muslim religious beliefs into the policies and operation of the government. Our government honored her religion by allowing her to be sworn in by swearing upon a Koran (not a Bible).

If Ilhan Omar wishes to continue as an U.S. Representative she should be muzzled and censured for violating the First Amendment.
