Thank you Sam

Here is something to think about! How true!
The American dream in 2022
Both parents wake up in the morning at 4 a.m in a house where they never truly own the property but more or less rent the property off the government by paying property taxes. They say good morning to each other and try to put together a lunch for themselves with food that’s price has increased on average 7% in the last year. They don’t get to see their kids off to school in the morning or welcome them home bc both parents have to work a job where they are making less this year than they were last year bc inflation has gone up 7% in the market but their paycheck only went up 3% bc that’s the national average. Then they proceed down the street in a vehicle where they are forced to pay to register, inspect, and preform maintenance on it yearly, on roads that haven’t been redone in years to a gas station that charges them between a .56 cents and .74 cents per gallon tax to “repair” said roads. Once they get to their place of work they work on average 10 hours per day for 5-6 days a week to then be taxed on that money, all while their government tells them what they must do health wise to come to work to pay those taxes that funds them. After all those taxes are taken out of their paycheck they then must still pay taxes on practically every other transaction of money they do, along with a price increase on every good. They get home in the evening worn out, where they hopefully get to see their children who are being raised by the government due to the fact both parents must work, where the government is grooming them to be the next generation of cattle to milk dry in taxes so the cycle can continue. They turn on the tv while they cook dinner to hear from their government officials that they worked all day to fund tell them how “they are the problem” and cause division across the country and when they are up for re-election convince you why you need them to fix your issues. They turn the tv off and walk upstairs and lay next to their spouse hoping and dreaming that one day in 50+ years if they are lucky to make it that long that they might get to enjoy each other’s company for 5 years together in retirement.
The system is so broken and it’s disgusting. I hope people are waking up to the fact that more government regardless of party isn’t the answer. We don’t need politicians they need us, but somehow that narrative has been lost over time. Something needs to change in this country and it needs to happen quick bc the Nation is a dried out tinder box ready to be lit. I know I can’t be the only person tired of being stepped on in literally every aspect of life. It’s almost like we left a place once in our history bc of over taxation. This isn’t the American dream it’s the American nightmare where you aren’t a free American, you’re a free American to do what you are told. Copied and pasted.

Christmas In April?

Joe Biden throwing money at the world

Well, I watched it last night, and I have to give Biden an “A” on his delivery. He lasted the entire time with just a few hints of a stutter. His delivery seemed sincere, and I liked some of the new things he is promoting. What I didn’t like was his border control. I also don’t like the cost of the package, because it will most likely be paid for by me. I just sent Uncle money to even out my tax bill. At the same time I am seeking health insurance for my new spouse who is undocumented, and needs health insurance. I applied thru the latest version of Obama Care and was stymied by the program. It seems that theology-on goes into a loop asking for a password. Once I gave it a password, it returned to the same opening page which wanted my user name, and you guessed it a new password. Once I entered a new password, it looped again. After three times, I called the happy number on my digital phone only to get a voice that’s totally unintelligible. I shut my cell off and used a land line. It worked. The problem is that the guy who spoke to me could not resolve my problem. I finally went to a an insurance agency referred by a friend of a friend and spoke to an agent. Thank God, this person was in business and could answer my questions. Had she worked for Uncle like the last guy I spoke to I’d be babbling like an idiot.

Insurance is available, but I still lack knowledge of the cost. The agent told me that my meager retirement allotment puts me just above the line to get the insurance for zero.

How in the world will the Federal government be able to provide all these new programs when they are still struggling to implement ObamaCare after twelve years and are still hung up on getting through the portal. That program, as I recall, cost us several billion dollars to implement. Multiply all the new goodies Uncle Joe promised us by the billions spent on O-Care and then add twelve years to that and we will have a living nightmare on our hands.

I heard all the wonderful challenges Joe gave the Congress to get it done, but I agreed with his jibes to get them off their asses and to make things happen. He kept telling us “we can do this,” but will we, or better yet should we?

What I wanted him to tell us is that he is cancelling all the bureau’s and starting the government from scratch. All monies will be returned to those from whom it is being stolen, and we will let the economy straighten things out in the free market way.

So there you have it, the dreams of two Joe’s. Both of us are giving the store away, one by enlarging the bureaus and the other by eliminating them.

Which dream would you support?

Sorry Joe

Last night’s debate felt rather long. Probably because the debaters tried to keep from talking over each other. I can’t proclaim a winner, but I can proclaim a loser. I thought Joe Biden did well in his ability to keep things together, and he was well rehearsed, but I had major issues with his arguments which I will elucidate below:

  1. Sorry Joe, but your plan for COVID-19 response is about the same as closing the barn door once the horse is out of the barn. All I heard is that your plan is to make all of us wear masks all of the time. Have you forgotten that the previous administration(like you and Obama) had run the Federal stockpiles of strategic personal protective equipment dry? Many of President Trumps reactions were in response to limiting the PPE to hospital personnel. There just wasn’t enough to go around for we the people. I call that a failure of the Obama administration to live up to his oath to protect the American people. Have you forgotten that hospitals were over burdened and there were no respirators in the federal warehouses? Trump had to round up manufacturers to make them. All of this took precious time which your plan no longer has to worry about. The same holds true for vaccines. During your administration there was a threat of a pandemic from the swine flu. Vaccines were being developed but stopped since the virus died off. Couldn’t your former plan have continued vaccine development as a step to avoid pressure in the future like now?
  2. Sorry Joe but your plan of Obama Care for all you can keep your plan if you like it is a giant lie. It was true right up until the insurance companies told us that we had to cancel our existing plans to get into the super new one you rushed through Congress to get approved. When we tried to re-up for insurance we were told we had to go for the Obama Care. Of course you brag about getting 22 million people health care who never had it before, but what about the forty million people who now couldn’t afford health care any more? Don’t they count?
  3. Sorry Joe but you argue that the economy was coming back, really? With the anemic less than one percent growth in GDP it would only take another twenty years to get to where Trump took us.
  4. Sorry Joe, but don’t get me started on clean energy. I don’t see filling every field in America with wind mills and solar panels as a rational or economic way to get to clean energy. Your plan to phase out fossil fuels to ramp up to meet demand with wind and solar is true, Except the ramp up time period will take as long as it takes to exhaust the world of good rich fossil fuel (maybe one or two thousand years). Beside that, scientists have already determined that with today’s technology, wind and solar does not have the capacity to meet our current demand much less our future needs. As far as building 50,000 charging stations for electric vehicles your are short. It will take three, four, or five time as many to keep America rolling. Don’t ever mention the environmental damage that will be done by making and charging all those batteries. In my opinion the Audubon Society is not making a large enough stink about the loss of birds to those whirling windmills batting them out of the sky.
  5. Sorry Joe but when it comes to foreign affairs when was the last time your previous administration created an alliance with Jews and Muslims? Its my recollection that you and your boss only knew how to kiss muslim ass to make friends. Or how about getting our allies mad at us for asking them to begin paying the bill for America saving them during WW 2?
  6. Sorry Joe, but your plea to me to that Trump doesn’t stand for what America was built upon is a bunch of political theater. America was built upon the idea that we have freedom and liberty to live without chains to earn a living. America was not built upon the idea that we the people should earn that living and then pay a huge fraction to you the governing to spend it the way you think is right and proper. Trump stands for exactly what our forefathers intended. His policies are all directed toward giving us all the freedom to earn as we please.
  7. Sorry Joe, when you speak of civil rights you are talking through the side of your mouth. The infamous Civil Rights Act that you and Donna Brazille so proudly proclaim is the heart of America is solely responsible for the slaughter of thirty million black babies since it’s inception. When Nancy Pelosi was asked about it she proudly exclaimed that without abortion we would have to deal with a lot more welfare. Is that what our country was built on that black babies will all grow up to go on welfare?
  8. Sorry Joe, but babies in cages that you and Obama built are also the result of your policies toward immigration. It is also the result of forty years of neglect by Congress to insist of enforcement of existing laws. Last I checked you were a part of the Congress for those years. With the lax border law enforcement we have created a need to do something with twenty million good people whose only crime was to sneak into the country to make a better life for themselves. Where were you all those years Joe? Why didn’t you give them a path to legality and citizenship?
  9. Sorry Joe, but your arguments on global warming don’t make any sense. None of the global warming arguments make any sense. The United States has the best air and water in the world, short of Antartica. What do you propose to do with a carbon tax scheme? Will all that tax money be directed toward countries like China, and India to take care of their dirty air? Why should we be made to pay for the sins of other countries. I was in shock last month to learn that China is now the largest producer of automobiles in the world. Not only have they surpassed US production they have beaten us by three times (28,000,000) as many cars a year. Does a single one of them have a catalytic converter? How about emission controls? Has the country legislated or decreed that auto companies meet clean air standards? Do they even know what clean air standards are? How about Chinese power plants? Are they all solar and wind? No? Why not? Oh, I get it you are not in charge over there so let the U.S.A. pay for it to happen. We will keep paying to clean up our air while the global winds will continue to bring us more polluted air from around the world. I ‘ll be happy to pay a carbon tax when the rest the of countries in the world meet or beat our current levels.
  10. Sorry Joe, but raising taxes is not a good way to go. It is the opposite of what our founding fathers built the country on. I think is was an unfair tax on tea that kicked off the revolutionary war because the original Americans were being taxed to death to pay for the King’s sins.

Compare Trump to Biden

I haven’t paid much attention to either candidate yet, but when I do see something it resonates with me. Since I am a heavy Trump fan whenever I see a Biden commercial I listen carefully to determine how the two candidates differ.

Yesterday, I listened to Biden and his plan for fighting COVID-19. It is the same as Trump’s word for word. I think he was reading from the Centers for Disease Control website, wear a mask, social distance, don’t go out if you feel sick etc. Where Biden does deviate heavily from Trump is on taxes. Biden will certainly raise our taxes to the point we will be crying uncle. It is my opinion that the Federal Government is way too large and the currently over-spent budget of Trillions is a hundred times larger than it needs to be. When will we as Americans learn to fend for our selves? Why do we believe that Uncle can take care of us better than we can?

Both candidates are old and can experience a health problem at any second. If they do have a problem, which Vice Presidential candidate has the best chance of running the country? My confidence is in Mike Pence. He has shown considerable leadership as a former governor and as VP. His performance as leader of the COVID-19 Task Force has been commendable. He clearly has more experience in getting things done than does Kamala Harris.

More scary to me is that if Biden has a problem and continues to lead who will really be calling the shots behind the scenes? Another old guy like Bernie? Or worse yet some political contributor who will remain invisible to the rest of us.

I am amazed at how little experience a presidential candidate needs to have in order to run the world’s strongest country with so much money to control. Other than popularity and some organizational skill to get a political campaign up and running there is little else to help decide which candidate is the best. Since Trump now has almost four years of performance behind him he has shown me that he is a capable leader in both domestic and world affairs.

And that is all I want to say about that.

Cross At Your Own Risk

Illinois is a great state to live in if you are socialist. We put California and New York to shame when it comes to one party politics, graft, and families who make politics a business. Our last election put a democrat governor back in the statehouse and our legislature can’t increase taxes fast enough. The increases are not going to fix real problems but to fuel unmet pension obligations for public sector workers. By law the pensions are funded every year, but our politicians have seen fit to use the money elsewhere. The funds are in dire straits. My town is loaded with retired teachers and supervisors. All I can say is what I observe. These people live a whole lot better on a pension than they did working.

Meanwhile we have some very serious infrastructure problems which are going unaddressed. One in particular is the Inter-state 80 bridge over the DesPlaines river in Joliet. Here is how the Illinois politicians have addressed the problem.

https://www.fox32chicago.com/news/392512332-video

By the  time you see this sign it is too late to exit I80. To convince myself of the seriousness I tested the bridge last Saturday afternoon by driving over it. The structure seems to be sound, but the road surface is a total mess. I found my self in the center lane of the three lane road. I could not change lanes because I was in a sea of trucks in front, back, and on the side. I slowed down to make myself feel like that was the correct thing to do. At the very center of the crossing the road surface dips a full four inches over a twelve foot span. On land this would not concern me, but while crossing a river a hundred feet in the air it scared the crap out of me. On land when a road dips it is because the roadbed has compacted but on a bridge there is no dirt below the road surface, only air. This is a terrible accident waiting to happen at any moment.

Why is IDOT waiting to repair the problem? Good question with many answers none of which will hold water after the section of road decides to take a swim. On my return trip I exited the interstate one mile before the bridge and took the city streets. I’m lucky I know the area well enough to be able to do that. What if you are a vacationer from another state passing through. You will ignore the sign even if you do see it, and proceed.

Anyway, when the event finally happens Illinois will be on the map right up there with California and New York. The world will see the news broadcasts of our finest politicians passing the buck and blaming the republicans. Oh wait, they can’t do that there are no republicans.

Why is this bridge crumbling? It is a long story. Once upon a time there was a Congressman from Frankfort whose name was George Sangemeister. There was also a giant parcel of US Government land know as the Joliet Arsenal. George wanted to leave a legacy so he legislated that the land should go back to the people. The arsenal was no longer being used to make bullets, bombs, and torpedos, and is made good sense. George’s plan split the land into three parcels. The first parcel created the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery for veterans. The second parcel created Midewin National Tall Grass Prairie. The final parcel was designated for business. I’m sure George made some side money on that one. The business that settled there is a giant terminal for transporting goods coming from China. This is the culprit. There are thousands of trucks coming into and out of the terminal. Container trains come in from the east and the west they get unloaded and then trucked to our local Dollar General stores with all the crap the Chinese send us. We get cheap goods to fill our garages and basements with and the states get a bill to rebuild highways, and  bridges. Now how cheap is that? What we don’t pay for in goods we wind up paying for infrastructure.
