The Big Hoax

Every day our lawmakers and pundits bombard us with BS.  They say, “we are a nation of laws,” but are we?  Sure, we employ sixty Senators and  four hundred and thirty-five representatives to write and pass laws, and they do write laws by the hundreds every year. When some poor slob has a problem, he writes to his Congressman to fix his problem so it never happens again. The Congressman, eager to keep his job for a lifetime drafts a law. He lobbies his friends in congress to vote for it. Together, they vote the law in. The rest of us who do not have the same problem  don’t really give a rats hoot about it. The law stays on the books, and congress forgets about it. Someone finds a loophole in the old law, and applies it inappropriately. Time passes, and some genius Congressman decides to be creative by working around the silly house rules requiring that congress debate it first, then vote on it.  A recent example of this is the reconciliation bill. The Senate adopted the reconciliation bill to fix differences between the house, and the senate versions of the health care bill. Originally, the bill reconciled differences in the budget.

How many laws do we have that lurk in the books with hidden time bombs like the reconciliation bill? Today, I tried researching what it takes for a person coming into this country to come in legally.  Try to Google that one. I got thousands of hits on what an American needs to get into Mexico, but very little on what a Mexican needs to get into the USA. There are stories of overcrowded border crossings and border patrol people at the gates who do a poor job at checking the credentials of those coming across.

I was able to glean that several presidents were involved in opening the gates to the USA. Remember when, Jimmy Carter tried to make the country bi-lingual? He wanted to post all the signs in the country in Spanish as well as English. I bet that is where “dial one for English,” crept into the vocabulary. Bill Clinton made the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA) part of his agenda. He also began looking the other way when the Mexicans began flooding across the border to jobs in border towns.  George Bush was no better. He wanted the country to have low-cost labor to pick lettuce, wash dishes, and mow lawns. He is highly regarded by the Latino population in Texas.

I spent considerable time looking for the requirements for a Mexican to enter legally. I found one reference to a form that day workers use. Another actually mentioned a passport. A visa is not required. I’m sure the State Department knows what the rules are for entry, but I sure as hell don’t.

So, what is the hoax? The hoax is we are a nation of laws. We have books filled with laws on immigration to the USA. Most of them worked very well until the 1980’s. (Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 (IRCA)). Ever since then, we have forgotten what the laws are, and disregard them. We fail to enforce immigration laws. Presidents encourage the border patrols to look the other way. Federal Immigration laws are in such poor regard that big cities pass “sanctuary” laws. A sanctuary law prohibits the police from determining if arrestees are in the country legally.  We do have many immigration laws, but hypocritically, we pass laws to say we don’t have to follow the laws. What is that all about?

The next big push by our president is to reform immigration. I have some recommendations:

  1.  Start by enforcing the laws we already have on the books.
  2. Several presidents have chosen to clean house by deporting all illegal aliens.
    1. During the Great Depression, President Herbert H. Hoover,  (R) ordered the
deportation of all illegal aliens in order to make jobs available  to  American
      citizens that desperately needed  work.
    2. Harry S. Truman, (D) deported over one million Illegal aliens after WWII to create jobs for veterans.
    3. In 1954, President Dwight D. Eisenhower,  (R) deported 1.3 million Mexican Nationals during ‘Operation Wetback’. He did it to give returning WWII, and Korean Veteran’s  a better chance at jobs. It took two years, but the illegal aliens went home by deportation!

These three Presidents deported illegal aliens to help the country.  Obama can do it too. He has both justifications, i.e. a poor economy and returning veterans.

  1. After we clean house, I recommend we use the laws we already have to allow these people to return legally. This is a tough action. We must take it if we are to live up to the claim that “we are a nation of laws.” If we don’t, we are perpetrating the HOAX and spreading hypocrisy across the world.

Obama will not do it because he is part of the HOAX.

Problem Solved

What a genius I am, I thought to myself. I am smart.  I have come up with a solution to a large segment of the illegal alien problem. Many of the illegal’s are coming across the U.S.-Mexico border. We try like hell to keep them out, but they keep on coming. It is not easy trying to secure a border that is 1969 miles long. Build a fence, is what some people say.  Others want to transfer our troops from Iraq and Afghanistan to protect this border. In other words, let us build the U.S. version of the Iron Curtain. We could build guard towers every three hundred feet and staff them with border patrol people who will shoot to kill. Clear a swath several hundred yards wide along the border to give the sentries a clear shot. Even better yet, mine the field so the poor bastards coming across are blown up.

Drastic measures have to be taken or the illegal’s will destroy our economy before Obama and his pirates can do it. The solution is so simple, but not one that is easy to swallow for either side. I began to do some research to find facts to support my premise. It occurred to me that I should Google the idea to see what is already available on the subject. Surprise, surprise, I got 43,600,000 hits on the idea.  I guess it was not such an original idea after all. Or, maybe I should say my idea has a lot of merit since so many others have had the same thought.

The reason the illegal’s are such a problem, is that we have legislated too many ways for them to get all the neat free stuff we give to our own citizens. Health Care, Education, Food Stamps, Social Security, and driver’s licenses, are available to these people and they do not pay a cent for it. Well, let us change that by making them pay. How? Annex Mexico as the fifty-first state. Instantly they become citizens who are obligated to follow our laws, and to pay taxes. Since they have to get minimum wage like the northerners do, there is no advantage to hiring them in the upper fifty. That means the jobs they have now will have to be taken by the poor northern boys who are out of work. Maybe some of the Acorn people would like to do something productive for a change.

Another advantage is that this move will stop the flow of manufacturing jobs to the south. Why? The economic advantage is lost. The jobs will have to go to some other third world nation. The liberal progressives and Obama will like that. Spread the wealth baby.

The phone companies could program all calls north of the state of Mexico to open with “Dial One for English.” South of the border the call would say “Dial one for Spanish.” You know what? It wouldn’t piss us off anymore either, because we are all U.S. citizens

The Federal Government could eliminate the US Border Patrol because there would be no need to check for jumpers any more. Think of those tax rebates we would get from that move. The Border Patrol people will transfer to the IRS. No doubt, we would need extra people to collect all those new tax payments.

I could go on and on with lots of great reasons to annex Mexico, but with forty-three million hits on Google there are too many words occupying cyberspace on the subject already.

A Light Went On

Dr Consults with Federal Obamacare for Direction In my world of engineering, I studied project management. Last week, I thought about one of the basic tenets of the training. A light went on above my head. A picture emerged on the subject of  health care. There is a rush by the democratic snake oil salesman to sell the American public on the need for a radical reform of the health care system. Never mind that the current system works fine for 75% of the people.

I keep hearing about the 47 million people  who do not have health care insurance.  Of course twelve million of these are illegal aliens who shouldn’t qualify for any freebies from the government.  Another twelve million are people who wouldn’t buy or use health care insurance if their life depended on it. That reduces the forty seven million to twenty three million. In my book of arithmetic that translates into six and a half percent of the population that we are worried about. Using the laws of statistics, there is probably some error in these numbers. It might even be as high as six percent. If I have erred and the margin of error is on the minus side, the number of people who are uninsured is .5%. For that we want to create a government bureocracy that will bankrupt the country and take away our freedom.

What does all this have  to do with project management? The rule I learned was this; Good, Fast, Cheap–Pick Two.

The rule applies to making things or to designing health care systems.

1. If you want a good plan designed and implemented fast. It won’t be cheap.

Therin lies the national bankruptcy charge and the higher cost to the U.S. taxpayer, me and you.

If you want a good plan that is cheap, It won’t be fast.

That is why we must slow this bill down. I know the guys in Washington  designing this reform are like  a room full of chimpanzees who are banging away on typewriters. Eventually the chimps will prepare the perfect plan.  Another way to look at this is you will stand in line for a long time to get service that is free.

3. If you want a cheap plan that is fast, it won’t be good.

This is what Obama is directing lawmakers to give us.  Think about how many generations of Americans will be stuck with lousy health care service because the president wants it to be done fast, for what? I believe he wants it fast so we don’t have time to think about it. Kind of like passing a thousand page stimulus bill without knowing what is in it. I think health care warrants some careful planning and debate that will yield a system that is the best the country can devise, not one that is cobbled together by a bunch of self interest groups that have had pressure applied.

The thought of seeing my parents being advised by a government flunkie about  other options available than health care gives me the willies. I think if it comes to an mandated advisor coming to talk to me about options, I will give him a new one. i.e. the  option I have to excercise my second amendment right to defend myself from crazies.

It is sooo clear to me that the project management rule applies right on the money to our current situation.

President Obama wants a good plan, he wants it to be cheap, and he wants it fast. He can’t have it. He can only have two of the three.

We need to defeat the Health Care Reform Bill or break the rule of Good, Fast, Cheap.

Fair Trade

Here is my proposal to help reduce the cost for welfare in our great country. Let’s trade twelve million people from our welfare roles for the twelve million illegal aliens we allowed in. The illegals are all doing the work that those on welfare refuse to take. Why do our citizens refuse to work? Because welfare pays better.

Think of the benefits: 1. We save billions in welfare money, 2.) We send the unhappy recipients back to the country of their ethnic origin thus making them happy to be home again, 3) We make the illegals very happy because we embrace them as the hard working people they are, 4) We get to keep our good laborers and enjoy the fruits of their labor, 5) We eliminate the need for Acorn and free those people to find work in a socialist state, 6) We eliminate the minimum wage because the illegals are happy to make anything, 7) The illegals are happy with whatever amount they make because it is more money than they have ever seen in their own countries, 8) The majority is happy because they have finally repatriated the unhappy people whose decendents were brought to these shores against their will, and the list goes on.

Fair trade? Not even close, we win.
