Ashamed of Their Country

Grumpa Joe intended this blog site as a place where he would post his work exclusively; He would share with readers the wisdom of his years. For the most part about half of what he posts is original stuff and the other half comes from contributions from friends on subjects that touch his nerves. When he does post a contribution he adds words of his own to give a rationale.

Today, he has a piece from a Dorothy, a friend he knows from the company they worked for. She and he were at different ends of the building but they made enough contact to become friends. She worked in Carpet Land, and he worked in the trenches. Whenever he got called to see the Boss, she was the one who announced his presence. After many years of retirement they somehow hooked up again via the blogosphere. Dorothy sends him really good stuff regularly. Today, she got him going with this little known piece of news that didn’t really make the news. This is the kind of stuff that gets his juices flowing.

First is her contribution, second will be Joe’s thoughts on why this happened.

George Washington statue is hidden at the MLK rally in Columbia, SC

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia, SC had an interesting twist this year.

The event is held on the North side steps of the statehouse.

Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington.

This year, the NAACP constructed a “box” to conceal the father of our country from view so that participants would

Not be ‘offended’ by his presence.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this picture of the MLK Day rally in Columbia, South Carolina.

This rally was sponsored by the NAACP, and they said that they covered the statue because they “didn’t want to offend anyone.”

Really? George Washington is the father of this nation. How is he offensive to anyone?

Can you imagine what would happen if we covered the statue of Dr. Martin L. King on President’s Day? Or, is only the statue of a ‘white guy’ offensive??

Of course, this display of anti-Americanism wasn’t covered at all by the national media (surprise, surprise!!), and the local paper in Columbia only ran a short piece on it. It has been covered a little by the blog-world, but I think the word needs to get out to the general public that this is what the NAACP is all about…militant and (most definitely) racist.

An angel on Joe’s shoulder told him to check this out on Snopes before hitting the “Publish” button. Snopes gave it a Green dot with a red circle around it, meaning the article above is a mixture of truth. Actually, it is true but not complete. Snopes doesn’t allow one to copy their analysis, but ASK.com does and their version is identical to Snopes.

FW: Father of Our Country Boxed Away

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a “box” to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.

Analysis: I haven’t (yet) been able to determine precisely who took the above snapshot, but eyewitness accounts and other photos of the Jan. 17, 2011 event confirm that it’s authentic.

As stated above, the occasion was the NAACP’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally at the state house in Columbia, South Carolina. The participants’ view of the statue of George Washington that stands in front of the capitol building was indeed obstructed by a three-sided wooden box during the ceremonies, a measure which has been roundly criticized by right-leaning political bloggers as disrespectful of the nation’s first President.

Whereas the forwarded text asserts that the organizers of the event sought to “conceal” the statue of Washington “so that participants would not be offended by his presence,” an NAACP spokesperson offered a different explanation, as reportedby John O’Connor in the Jan. 18 edition of The State:

A three-sided structure that covered the front and sides of the statue was intended to display a rally graphic and serve as a photo-and-television backdrop for the event’s speakers, said S.C. NAACP executive director Dwight James. However, the graphic was not finished before the rally and could not be put in place.Photos from the event showed a three-sided box with Washington’s statue visible only from behind the stage. “What we had constructed was a background with a graphic to be placed on it,” James said. “We weren’t trying to obstruct anything.”

The State reported that the statue has been similarly covered at MLK Day events going back at least four years, though most groups holding rallies at the state house leave it unobstructed.

Grumpa Joe tried researching for articles from the last four years but could not find anything. His hopes were to find another photo from another year to prove the validity of the claim that they have been covering statues at their events. He was unsuccessful.

Here is Joe’s take on why they covered George. Even though George Washington played a huge role in kick starting America into existence he owned slaves. Most of the NAACP people Joe has heard speaking resent the Founding Fathers who endorsed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the BIll of rights, and consider them all hypocrites. They wrote “All men are created equal . . .” yet never included blacks in the conversation. It wasn’t until Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation that they became free men. Our government has worked diligently to pass laws to correct the imbalance between blacks and whites, but  have been largely unsuccessful. There is still racial division today, and our first black President is the main perpetrator of racial division. He uses race at every chance to his advantage. Meanwhile, even though the Founders blacks out of the original documents in favor of establishing a country which ultimately advances the black cause and has raised their level of wealth, and education to above the level of blacks anywhere else on earth they refuse to budge from dependence to self-responsibility.

The root cause is slavery. The blacks have been spoon fed by liberals that whites owe them something to make up for the sins committed by the ancestors who did own slaves. Joe’s take on this is “Get over it.” Many countries lived with slaves going back to ancient Rome and further. Eventually, slaves were freed and assimilated into civilization. Every European country had a system of feudal serfs. Serfs were freemen but belonged to the estate on which they worked. They lived free but were required to work the fields of the Lord, while slaves were told exactly what to do and how. Slaves were property, Serfs were not. Serfs could leave an estate at anytime, but because of the feudal system they could only get work on another estate as a serf. Either way, the life of a slave and the life of a serf were pretty darn close.

Yet, many serfs fled European countries to become freemen. We do not hear white immigrant descendents of European Serfs slamming their government, nor claiming restitution for years past. They are happy enough as free men to work within the system. U.S.A. Blacks are several generations removed from slavery, yet they persist in receiving back pay. Haven’t we paid enough in the past 148 years?

Blacks want us to love them and treat them equally. The country has made great inroads to doing that in the past fifty years. Laws favor blacks over whites in many cases. They have served well to lift blacks to make them more equal. In some cases they have an edge over whites. Compare white-workers to black-workers in government jobs. Blacks often have union people assigned as Discrimination Officers. They function to resolve any grievance by a black regarded as discriminatory against him in the favor of the black. Here in Illinois we had a State Mental health Center. In the beginning, it was heavily staffed with whites. With the equal opportunity laws employment swung toward blacks and the State made sure they would not be held for discrimination. As time went on, the blacks outnumbered the white by a ratio of two or three to one. Yet, the Discrimination Officer remained. Blacks discriminated whites daily, but the Discrimination Officer slept in his office waiting for a black to walk in with a claim. Black workers took advantage of white workers every chance they got. For example, telephone operators worked three shifts. The blacks had a system in play. Whenever an operator was going to call in sick to take the day off she would alert the others not to answer their phones at home. That way the supervisor who was calling around for a replacement would not find anyone. The supervisor then “mandated” the worker still at work, to work the next shift. Most of the times the worker mandated was white. In my opinion, the State should have been sued for violation of work rules but they never were. They claimed they needed to keep a health care center running at all costs. Isn’t that a form of slavery, i.e. mandating a person to work another eight hours against his will?

Another example. Two telephone operators working side by side, one black, one white. The black sits at her phone chatting with her Avon customers while the board is lighting up with calls. The white works her butt off to answer her calls, and admonishes her partner to pick up her calls or to switch her board over. “Let them wait” was a typical reply. Both workers made the same money, but the white worker had more value per hour than the black. This type of workplace behavior goes on in all government bureaus, both state and federal. Did you ever wonder why the government workers need the SEIU? Because too many blacks would get fired without a Discrimination Officer in place to shout “racism” to a supervisor and throw the place into a panic about a lawsuit.

How can whites love blacks when they surround the whites with such behavior?

Another example, the Farm Bureau has a program to pay farmers who own small farms $50,000/year to make up for the awful way their ancestors were treated on the same land. Most farmers are black and the program intends to help them. I heard an interview with a black farmer in the program who made a really good living on his farm. The interviewer asked him if he felt dishonest taking the money from the Bureau program. “No, I feel it is my place to punish the government for treating my grandfather and his slave ancestors poorly.”

The bible story “The Tower of Babel” from Genesis finds the Lord dividing people and scrambling their language to make it harder for them to reach heaven, yet we mortals strive to do just that, we try over, and over again to build a Utopia that is not worth living in.

New International Version (NIV)

The Tower of Babel

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scatteredthem over the face of the whole earth.

Throughout history there has been a racial divide between people of color. Let’s face it whites don’t like people of color just as people of color don’t like whites. The color shouldn’t matter but it does. The laws force us to treat each other equally, but push the equality toward people of color to the detriment of the whites.

Another example is the Affirmative Action law which requires institutions to give equal consideration to race, color, religion, etc. This one law has resulted in what I call the Dumbing Down of America. Universities and Colleges force themselves to take on black students with lower credentials than whites. The result is many of the blacks come out with degrees they don’t deserve because no University wants to admit they failed a black. Our current President is a prime example of affirmative action. He would never have made it into the schools he did without affirmative action or a lot of money. Universities also discriminate toward foreign students because they pay cash and out-of-state fees. Perhaps Obama came in as a foreign student fully sponsored by a foreign government.

Nonetheless many very capable white students are being left out of prestigious schools because of Affirmative Action. Some of the Phd degreed blacks i see being interviewed on TV are the most left leaning liberals on earth. They could never hold a real job in the private sector so they continued education by playing the system until they got the title of doctor. That gives them the air of superior intelligence. Most of them are out of their league, and expect us to love them because they are smart blacks.

I don’t deny there are some very smart blacks in the country. Favorites like Thomas Sowell,  Econ Professor in California, or Ben Carson, Brain Surgeon, or Mychal Massie, Author, or Hermain Cain, Businessman, or Walter Williams, Economist, or Col. Allen West, Retired Military and Politician are all people I would live next door to and love them like my brother. The real question is would they want to live next to me?

Scandalous Phony

IMG_0002

Thursday evening was special for me. My friend Al called me to join him in a glass of wine, well it was more than one glass, but “at this point what difference does it make?” It amazed me how loose our tongues got as the wine went down. Al and I discussed issues easily, and made some great points to defend our positions.

Al opened the debate with a list of scandals being touted as phony by our dear President. Al was livid.

Our debate was one-sided because I couldn’t offer a defense to support the President’s claim of phoniness. I did come up with a reason though. The President has been on the defensive for over four and a half years now. One way he deals with issues is to deflect the press away from those that can harm him. The press is more than willing to take the lead, and cover anything other than those things that will hurt the man.

The George Zimmerman trial just finished and the press coverage dropped to zero. The news-stations needed something to talk about to steer “We the People” away from Obama’s failed policies. The Royal baby was next and relieved the pressure while we all waited to learn the sex of the new heir.

I believe the administration manufactured one scandal just to take heat away from the president on the Benghazi killings. The administration confessed to the IRS targeting of conservative groups filing for 503c3 status, but it blew up in their faces. The confession, and an admission of guilt, followed by a lame apology did not work. It did however take the heat off Benghazi.

This week, the President deliberately told lie after lie in his speech about the economy. Again, the intention was to deflect the conversation away from issues that could damage his administration. The whopper of the century was his comment that all the scandals are phony. I give him a Pinocchio-nose to the moon-and-back for that one. What is he covering up by deflecting us all to the “phony” comment? Well, he isn’t finished with the Benghazi affair, but he is also not very proud of his economic policies which is what his speech covered. The truth is Americans don’t really care that they are out of work as long as he keeps giving them unemployment and food stamps to live on. Could it be the new housing plan? The one where he is proposing to integrate every neighborhood in America? Americans will eventually wake up to that plan and then the press will begin to cover it again. Could it be his flaunting of the Supreme Court decision to rule on the Southern State’s voting laws by demanding Texas get Federal approval for voting law changes which is exactly what the Supreme court threw out? These are all good issues which Obama wants us to believe he is concerned about, but they are all invented to steer the press talk away from Benghazi, and now the very real IRS scandal.

Here is Al’s list of issues that Obama has perpetrated upon “We the People.”

1. IRS targeting of Conservative groups applying for 503c3 not for profit status

2. NSA spying on all Americans which is a stretch of the Patriot Act.

3. EPA war on coal and their  fines on Carbon Emissions

4. Regulations, too damn many unnecessary ones

5. HUD pressuring banks to approve loans based on racial percentages in neighborhoods. Isn’t that where the current housing market collapse began?

6. Poor Energy policy (I say it is a lack of an energy policy)

7. Deficit spending (transfer of wealth)

8. The Failure of Obama-care

9. Dodd-Frank, a deliberate control of the banking business

10. Fast and Furious and the order of Executive Privilege to protect Eric Holder and to prevent the truth from coming out

11. Benghazi-Obama, Hillary Clinton, and Susan Rice perpetrated a deliberate lie to deflect the truth from coming out by deflecting the press toward a video that no one saw.

12. Racial division, Obama is America’s premier racist. He uses racism to divide the country every chance he gets. Racial issues get press coverage and steer the conversation away from more stringent issues. Wy doesn’t he ever claim a white kid to be just like him? He is half white isn’t he?

13. Obama’s and Eric Holder’s refusal to uphold the laws of the land, i.e. the refusal to enforce Immigration laws and border control.

14. Military culture change, i.e.  the military removal of God from Christian military, but tolerance for Islam.

We decided there wasn’t enough wine in America to allow us to cover these topics in our lifetime. We also agreed that we will adopt Hillary’s attitude and use her famous defensive statement which the entire Congress bought into when she testified on her handling of Benghazi “at this point, what difference does it make?” that we call these major issues real or phony?

How would you handle them?

Grumpa Joe apologizes for the poor color on his drawing. He made Obama look like a sun-tanned white and not like a true African-American black.

It just occurred to me, American Blacks like to refer themselves as African Americans, yet none of them can answer which country in Africa they are descended from. Obama is the only true African-American we have. He can trace his blood line to Kenya.

If blacks call themselves African Americans, should whites refer to themselves as European-Americans and not as Irish, Italian, Polish, or Spanish? Shouldn’t Obama refer to himself as Kenyan and not as Irish like he does when he visits Ireland?

I need some more wine.

Purple Drank

It never ceases to amaze me that an old dog can learn new stuff everyday. A blogger friend with the courage to write about race issues and specifically the Trayvon Martin cover for Obama taught me a new term today, “purple drank.”  I keep vacillating about my being a racist, but I can’t buy into it. A racist is one who believes that members of one race are better,  smarter, or stronger than another. Such as, Grumpa Joe is a very white conservative who thinks he is smarter than any black man on earth. Well, I have to tell you that I am not smarter than the many black chemists of the ghetto who constantly brew concoctions that make them feel better at a lower cost. If only these genius chemists would redirect their energies toward getting themselves off the government plantation they wouldn’t need the chemistry to make themselves feel good.

One blog I follow is Just Cruisin 2. I like it because the blogger is a car nut, and I like to put myself into that same category. The joy of reading his blog is the nugget of wisdom like the piece I reblogged yesterday on leukophobia, and the one today on Travon. Just Cruisin 2 tackles the issue of racism, and  the stupidity of the American Press.

A week ago, I was cleaning my office and found a bare DVD disk of the movie ‘South Pacific.’ The backside was all scratched up. Should I find a jacket for it, or toss it? In order to make a good decision, I watched the movie.

WOW! What a fantastic story. I had forgotten the plot, but recalled of it from a reading of James Michener‘s book ‘Tales of the South Pacific.’ I love James Michener books. The first one I read was ‘Poland.’ A Polish friend loaned it to me. My wife Barbara was Polish and I wanted to learn all about her heritage. As are most of Michener’s books, this one was over a thousand pages. I was riveted to the narrative for three days, finishing five hundred pages before getting tired. I set the book down on the end table to keep it handy. The book lie there for a solid year before I picked it up again on a summer weekend that was too hot and humid to go outside.  I read the remaining five hundred pages.

I fell in love with Michener’s style and the historical perspective he gave to his writing. The jacket cover on Poland mentioned him as a Pulitzer Prize winning author. I searched for the book that got him the prize, it was ‘Tales of the South Pacific.’ This story was one of his earliest. Contrary to later works, his early books were only three hundred pages. When I finished ‘Tales of the South Pacific,’ I had a clear understanding of the conditions our service people lived through in the Pacific during WWII.

Not all sailors were involved on carriers and cruisers fighting the Japanese. A large number were stationed on remote islands that were thousands of miles from home. They served as maintenance, supply, and hospital stations for those who engaged in battle. Needless to say, when there was no ship to service, these men and women let their own creativity fend the boredom of remote island living. Michener’s narrative of their exploits are both hilarious, and sad, but always factual and entertaining.

The movie, ‘South Pacific,’ is Michener’s story. Rogers and Hammerstein adapted the characters and derived the plot directly from ‘Tales of the South Pacific.’ I was amazed at how closely they followed Michener’s work. He included a racial theme in the story, and it was probably one of the first times we got a dose of reality on the racism that existed in our country during the nineteen fifties, and how the distance from home allowed some service people to break barriers.

Roger’s and Hammerstein wrote it as a musical play, and staged it on Broadway where it stayed for many years, finally  making it into the movie.  It became one of the best-loved films of all time. If you watch this movie, and don’t leave it humming, or singing Some Enchanted Evening, you are not alive.

I found a jacket for the DVD and placed in the library with all of  my classics.

Divided

I have never seen our country so racially divided in all my years. It was bad in the fifties and sixties, but never like it is today. Racism, in spite of all the government’s effort to legislate racial equality, flourishes with vengeance. The number one perpetrator of the division is none other than our president Barack Obama.

BO’s number one philosophy of redistributing the wealth is only slave retribution in disguise. He is a troubled black soul living in a white world, and racked with guilt about not being one hundred percent black. He must give his blackness a legacy. His Muslim heritage also splits him. He has confusion about how to worship God. He cannot stomach Christianity, he flirts with his father’s Muslim background, and he chooses to worship in a Black Liberation Theology church based on Marxism and Black superiority.

Obama’s philosophy also extends into the Department of Justice. He steers Attorney General Eric Holder toward being “more just” to people of color. Why else would Holder refuse to prosecute the New Black Panthers for intimidating voters? Why else would he refuse to enforce immigration laws? Why else would he condone Sanctuary Cities? Why does he want to prosecute Military Combatants in civilian courts?

The latest division comes from Shirley Sherrod, the woman addressing the NAACP and bragging about dispensing her own form of racial justice to a white farmer. Clearly, the audience of blacks reacted with pleasure as she related the story. What about the President calling down a cop for doing a policeman’s job? The officer arrested an unknown black man for trying to break into a house. Obama got off with a beer on that one, but he was showing his racial side.

His liberalism wants to grant illegal aliens a free path to US Citizenship without any requirement of fidelity to the USA. The result is a population of Hispanics who desecrate the US flag in favor of flying their own colors over Old Glory.

I listen to Congressional Representatives of color make disparaging remarks about Tea Party Members being racist. I have attended several Tea Party rallies, some, with thousands in attendance. Never, have I witnessed anything even close to racism. If anything, I think the rallies are too tame to be effective. One thing is sure; the Tea Party people are pissed. Tea Party people will take action at the next election. They do not give a rat’s ass that the left smears them as racists, accuses them of sedition, or bites their fingers off. They will quietly march to the voting booth in November and fire a shot of quiet revolution.

The current buzz is all about Obama’s low approval rating. Democrat pundits defend him daily. They remind us that both Presidents Reagan and Clinton had very low approval ratings in the middle of their first terms. Both of them went on to become two term presidents. The difference between them and Obama is they were not racially dividing the country. They governed effectively.
