190626-Political Rant

I have to get this off my chest. For what ever reason I watched a round table discussion with Democrat Presidential Candidate Julian Castro.

Mr. Castro got my ire up but good. I truly believe he is the son or bastard of one Fidel Castro, and is determined to make this country as communist as Cuba. Julian was hired by Obama to serve as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development. Somehow I don’t remember him for anything outstanding. Now that I’ve listened to his political campaign bullshit I know why. This guy isn’t capable of finding his way out of a paper bag open at the end. He answered each question with an annoying “thank you for your question,” and then proceeded to demean President Trump without ever addressing the question. His biggest mistake was in describing conditions at the border and the handling of children as unacceptable. Well, Julian, President Trump is following the policy laid out by your former boss, and upheld by all your progressive judges..

Any one who is interested in voting for this man as our next leader should do the following: put a gun to your head and pull the trigger. The result will be much better than that of having this clown as our leader.

A Major Milestone Reached

God Blesses America

God Blesses America

This is my 1000th post, and I am proud that I reached it. When I began blogging, I never imagined that I would ever reach 1000. In fact at the beginning of 2013, I saw 1000 as too far in the future. Well, it happened. This post will make me happy only if it is meaningful and memorable.  To begin, I decided to copy post number one and republish my thoughts from 1000 posts ago.

Here is Post Number One:

Well the words “income tax,” required that I really get myself motivated to file. Nothing like the drudgery of  looking through old receipts and bank statements to get one excited. I scheduled two days for the task. They came and went, Then I scheduled another two days to do taxes. Again they came and went. Finally, I told myself that a great reward awaits me if I start and finish in one day. What was my reward?  A walk in the park. That is exactly what I did today. I completed the bloody 1040 and then went for a nice long walk. I didn’t mind the cold or the drizzle. It felt good compared to the drudge of filing.

Motivation is about playing tricks with your mind. Promising yourself little perks as rewards for completion of tasks is one of them. Try it, you will be amazed at what you can accomplish.

At the time, Grumpajoesplace was a blog about developing human potential. I dreamed of teaching people to learn how to visualize, how to prioritize, how to carry out goals. For a while, I did just that. I posted hints about how to set a goal, how to break things down into baby steps, and how to work on the right things. I spoke about defining High Payoff Activities. I quickly ran out of things to write about, but kept going anyway. Then, the campaign for the 2008 presidential election began. The campaign rhetoric reminded me of things I had heard before. It wasn’t like I heard the same old, same old stuff that politicians spew, it was a line of communist rhetoric cleverly disguised to intoxicate the masses. That is when this blog “transformed” into something different. I couldn’t just sit by and watch the country drink the Kool-Aid of communist socialist bull crap.

I am old enough to remember when Fidel Castro was a bright energetic freedom fighter who wanted nothing but to overthrow Batista the Cuban dictator. Fidel was charismatic, and a very good speaker. We all admired him and even the US Government became intoxicated on his rhetoric. Fidel managed to overthrow the dictator and run him out-of-town. Then he changed colors and turned Cuba into a communist socialist state overnight. He even stunned our government.

I listened to the speeches of Obama, but I heard the voice of Fidel Castro selling his socialist bullshit.

Now, we have a divided country too dumb to understand that Obama is a Muslim Socialist. They are too dumb to understand that they are selling their personal liberty for a welfare state, and they elected him a second time.

It is funny that my first post was about the IRS, I bad mouthed them in number one, and I’m not sorry I did. They are ruthless, evil union workers who extort “We the People” for every last nickel we owe. Why is it that the Tax Collectors are always considered bad guys in the Bible?

For a long time, I concentrated on the campaign exclusively, but I tired of it. That is when I sat down and brainstormed a new approach, I decided to mix up the blog-content by injecting my personal interests along with the Obama bashing. It became fun again. That is why I include stories about the silly Wabbits who eat my flowers under “Wabbit Wars,” and review books and movies. Since Peggy and I travel some, I post travel exploits and photos under the “Burning Gas” series, and I show off my passion for flower gardening with flower photos, usually under the “Monet Vision” series. I cannot forget the cartoons which allow me to exploit my artistic drive. More recently I have begun to include articles by other bloggers who share similar views and who write some pretty convincing articles. I thank them for allowing me to “reblog” their work.

Thanks to all my followers and readers who have faithfully supported me by reading my stuff. I intend to reach two thousand posts quicker than it did to get to one thousand (64 months).

Don’t Under Estimate the Winking Owl

I have a saying in my house,

“I only Serve the Best Wine. Bring Some.”

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

My wine rack now holds several bottles from a winery labeled WINKING OWL. It is a red from Merlot grapes. The wine has a deep red color and a very nice hang time on the glass. The nose is fruity and smacks of oak. The tongue enjoys hints of plums and berries. The finish is smooth. Those of you who are Winking Owl aficionados know what I am speaking of. This evening like most evenings I enjoyed two generous pours of this mellow red. The buzz I enjoy is venerable. During the buzz I write quickly and sometimes incoherently, but I write. Sometimes, I piss people off. Recently a follower left this comment, “you lost a reader with your ignorance.”  Because I read the comment after the Winking Owl had worn off with a good night’s rest, I undertook an analysis of the piece which incited the follower to conclude my ignorance

I touched upon several points in that post. 1.) I likened progressivism to communism, and equated liberals to both. 2.0 ) I cited facts about countries that control guns and confiscated them.  I followed those facts with reports about the effect of the experience on an unarmed population when the government choses to  massacre them. 3.) I offered my opinion about not trusting Obama to do the same in this country. 4.) I very coherently offered a challenge  that I would accept gun control when Hollywood gave up making movies loaded with gun violence.

So where did I go wrong? The facts about governments confiscating guns are true, so I am not ignorant on that point. An opinion is a judgement about something not necessarily based on fact, and the challenge to hollywood is valid. I believe that people commit violent crimes because of conditioning that teaches a disrespect for life from watching too many movies loaded with gun violence. You can argue with me on that one, but unless you can show me facts to the contrary, that’s what I am believing.

That leaves my number one argument which compared Progressivism to Communism. In order to change my mind about that, one would have to argue with solid facts. The progressive mind-set believes in equality for all, and that is the credo for communism too. Besides, I grew up in a family that had relatives directly affected by communism. My mother and father read the letters from their siblings in Europe telling their experiences about communal properties, and the effect of sharing the wealth upon the populace. Those many letters are congruent with Occupy Wall Street and their hatred for the one percent and other leftist cries for the defeat of capitalism. I can see it happening. I also so see a like comparison to the Castro take over of Cuba to the exploits of Obama. These are not ignorances, they are experiences indelibly etched into my psyche.

Anyway, it is my stolid conclusion, made with clarity only possible by consuming copious amounts of Winking Owl, that I am not ignorant, nor was I ignorant in that post. I simply pissed off a liberal, and that folks is the Winking Owl meaning for my life..

Fidel All Over Again?

The past two weeks, I have been driving across the country listening to the car radio and watching TV news programs in several states. In the mid-west I listened to Shawn Hannity, and Rush Limbaugh, once I got to the rockies, that changed. The conservatives were out of range and the towns are too small for two news stations broadcasting. Most carry CNN and a local station. Normally, I like to watch Fox News and CNN. The two networks are diametrically opposite. Fox is conservative, and CNN is liberal as most viewers know.

What I have observed is a fierce bias by CNN toward BO. He is their fair curly-haired boy. Their reports are sickening with mush for BO. Any attack made by John McCain against BO is immediately countered by endless interviews by liberal reporters who openly report their support for BO. How can news be fair if there is such a strong effort pushing a single candidate?

I do not keep it a secret that I am a conservative, so I want to listen to the conservative side of things, and CNN is pure trash in my mind.

It is also evident that BO is running scared over Sarah Palin. An army of people have desended upon Alaska to dig for clues about how to destroy her. Yet I have never heard a single report about BO. Who were his friends growning up? Who were his friends in school? Did he have any? Did they like him? Would they speak up for him?   How many reports have we heard about BO’s efforts in the Illinois Senate and the U.S. Senate?

I would like to know more about BO’s formative years with his mother. After all, he was raised in a foreign country in a faith that is responsible for our current involvement in two wars. Where are the reporters on any of this? Does any body care but me? Instead, I hear a ton of stuff about a woman who has bravely decided to put her life into the political fray. Sure, I want to know her credentials, but so far none of what I’ve heard changes my opinion of her. She is a thousand times more qualified to run this country than BO, and she will only be the VP.

John McCain has the correct stand on all the issues. Most of them involve getting govenrnment out of the business of running our lives. That makes BO nervous because he runs on the issue of building a government that runs your life in all respects. To me, that kind of government is just a heart beat away from communism.

I remember a time nearly fifty years ago, when a smooth talking leader convinced us of what he wanted for his country. We all bought into his message based on his ability to speak so eloquently. He eventually, won his revolution and immediately turned 180 degrees to make Cuba into a socialist state. This guy BO reminds me of Fidel all over again.
