The Sequel to 1776

Six years ago I began writing a book in the alternate history genre. The theme is based on patriots losing the Revolution in 1776 and not gaining independence from Britain. I stopped at 80,000 words because I didn’t know how to end the story. One way would have left me open to continue writing several more books on the story. Another way was to end it abruptly thus dashing the dreams and aspirations of all the characters in the story. This last week’s attempt by we the people to make ourselves heard by the Congress have signaled how the latter ending would turn out.

WASHINGTON, DC – JANUARY 06: Pro-Trump supporters storm the U.S. Capitol following a rally with President Donald Trump on January 6, 2021 in Washington, DC. Trump supporters gathered in the nation’s capital today to protest the ratification of President-elect Joe Biden’s Electoral College victory over President Trump in the 2020 election. In analyzing the events leading up to the attack on the Capitol Building I have put together a series of steps that may be the underlying reasons. I will try to list them and rationalize my thinking as I proceed.

  1. In 2016 Democrats speak about impeaching Trump a week before his inauguration. They rejected his legitimacy, and boldly proclaimed that he was not their president.
  2. Democrats, namely Hillary Clinton used a false narrative of Russian collusion in her campaign against Trump. Then, when it failed the Democrats used the Clinton narrative by blaming Trump for said collusion.
  3. Several FBI employees ran a campaign against the President in an attempt to delegitimize his presidency. One of them, Peter Stzrok was fired. As far as I can remember he is the only one who was punished for his actions against the President.
  4. Democrats led an abusive campaign against the confirmation of Brett Cavanaugh for the Supreme Court.
  5. Democrats were slow to react to the President’s actions to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 and then used his actions against him in the campaign. I’m waiting for Biden’s miracle to stop the spread. God love him, if he does he will be my hero.
  6. The press has conducted a non-stop assault on the president via false narratives in their reporting. Currently, there is talk of social media companies colluding to prevent Parler a Twitter competitor from doing business, proclaiming it is an anti-trust situation. Isn’t this exactly the same thing the news companies did throughout the last five years?
  7. Two years ago, there was a rumble about inconsistencies within our election process, but since there wasn’t a major candidate running, nothing was done.
  8. Democrats desperate to eliminate Trump proceeded with an impeachment proceeding on a the basis of minuscule phone call with a newly elected Ukrainian leader. During this proceeding they used all manner of debate to sway members of Congress and public opinion. Thankfully, the arguments failed.
  9. COVID-19 made people wonder how they could vote with the need to social distance, to wear masks, and to avoid crowds. A new election process was quickly implemented in many states. All of them ignored their own laws dictating how the process can be changed. Aren’t we a Nation of Laws? The vote by mail system was proposed and implemented illegally against the recommendations of the President and millions of voters.
  10. During the election and the counting process numerous infractions and violations were reported by the election judges. Coincidentally, most infractions were in four states that Trump needed to win. Thousands of election judges filed sworn statements of their observations of illegal actions. Every challenge against the validity of the count was ruefully dismissed by democrat judges. They didn’t offer any valid reason for their decision. They did claim that there wasn’t enough fraud to make a difference in the outcome. Since when does fraud have an allowable limit? Isn’t any infraction of the law to be met with equal judicial concern? This inaction by the courts and States involved were a thorn in the side of most voters, but the courts did not give a hoots-ass about examining or investigating the process.
  11. Finally, the election arrived in the Senate for the official count to declare a winner. In the course of history, there have been challenges to the accuracy of the Electoral College results. This time was to be no different, Several Senators declared they would challenge the votes of several states. To my knowledge only Senator Cruz made such a challenge before hell broke loose.
  12. It is my contention that had the Senate given the challengers some time to debate as is the custom the invasion may have been avoided. All they would have had to do is to listen to the arguments and then decide whether it made sense to allow the electoral votes to be counted. The Senate did not act that way. Instead they chose to ignore the challenge and to impeach the President for inciting a riot.

I stopped at twelve because my feeble old brain is nearing exhaustion. There are scores more reasons why we the people have witnessed a committed, organized, planned take down of a legally elected president of the United States. I guess these reasons are called politics.

If there is any one theme throughout this scenario it has been to avoid listening to the other side. The Congress was designed to allow dispute to be settled civilly using debate as the tool for convincing the sides how to make up their minds to what is best for the country.

I suspect that the process has evolved from using civil debate and sound arguments as a method to the twenty-first century method of using polls and media to sway public opinion. What seems to be most important to the Congress is not what is best for the country but what is best for their re-election prospects.

In the beginning of this I wrote about the dilemma of my unfinished book. In my story, the British American Colonists are on the rise and trying to secede from British rule. The colonists are ill equipped, and undermanned, but determined to stand up to the mighty British Empire in North America. The easiest end to write will be to put down the uprising in a manner similar to what happened last week. Except, I would make it a whole lot bloodier with many bodies left dead on the battlefield.

We Have Two Choices

Today I was reminded of a story I had heard many years ago. The author of this piece states very eloquently the problem we have in America.

Darkest Hour
By: Judd Garrett
December 13, 2020
I was re-watching the movie, Darkest Hour, the other day, about the weeks leading up to Great Britain’s entrance into World War II, and I was struck by the similarities between the political dynamics of their country during that time to the United States, today. England was facing an existential threat from an evil totalitarian regime of Nazi Germany, and England’s Prime Minister was a loud, outspoken, rude, politically incorrect man named Winston Churchill. Churchill believed the best course of action was to stand up to the evil Nazi regime, and if they were to negotiate, they could then do so from a position of strength. He understood that the most dangerous course of action for the country would be not to fight.
Churchill was not well received by the elites or the political class of England. He was brash and outspoken, saying unpopular things. The King told Churchill once, “you scare people. One never knows what’s going to come out of your mouth next. Something that will flatter. Something that will wound.”
One does not have to be perfect to be a great leader, in fact, many times, their flaws are what makes them great. Churchill’s wife told him, “you are strong because you are imperfect. You are wise because you have doubts.”
A contingent of career politicians worked behind the scenes, colluding together to oust Churchill because they believed their positions and their special interests were best served not to fight. They were willing to achieve a peace treaty with the Nazis at-all-cost even if it meant negotiating from a position of weakness. It was highly unlikely that Germany would have abided by the terms of the agreement forged under those circumstances. The treaty would only have been used by Germany to exploit England’s weaker position.
What the peace-at-all-cost contingent in England did not realize was that Germany was at war with them, as they were with the rest of Europe, and simply saying “I do not want war”, does not make the war go away. In fact, it makes the war inevitable, and the results more devastating.
Today in the United States, we have an existential threat in the form of Communist Chinese. And for the last four years, we have had a President who is a loud, outspoken, rude, flawed man named Donald Trump. Trump has not been well received by the elites or the political class of the United States. He is politically incorrect. No one knows what’s will come out of his mouth.
Like Churchill facing the Nazis, Trump believes the best course of action is to stand up and confront the evil Communist Chinese, and by doing we will negotiate trade deals and other agreements with them from a position of strength. He understands that the most dangerous course of action for our country would be not to confront the Chinese, and pursue a peace-at-all-cost approach.
Throughout Trump’s term in office, there has been a contingent of career politicians, tech billionaires, and the media working behind the scenes, colluding together to oust him. These people believe their positions and their special interests will be best served to acquiesce to the Chinese, pursue peace-at-all-cost thus giving away our power at the negotiating table. But these trade deals negotiated from a position of weakness makes it highly unlikely that the Chinese would abide by the terms of the agreement, merely using the treaty to further exploit our weaker position.
China is at war with the United States, pretending they are not, does not make their unfair trade practices, their currency manipulation, their stealing of intellectual property magically go away. It merely emboldens them, making all of their unfair, illegal, unethical practices get worse.
Both Churchill and Trump understood the premiere importance of individual and national sovereignty, and the utmost necessity it is to defend it against anyone or anything set to take it from us.
For those who reject the “America First” approach to international relations that Trump has promoted, answer this, does China put China first? Yes. Does Russia put Russia first? Yes. Does Germany put Germany first? Yes. Does (fill in the blank) country put their country’s interests first? Yes. Why is it only evil when America puts American interests first? And since America, the greatest force of good in the world, a strong America, America as the world’s superpower, is unequivocally what’s in the best interest of the world. China’s ascendency to the world’s superpower would be bad for all of the world except China and a few rogue nations. How philanthropic and caring for human rights will China be to the rest of the world when they systematically oppress, enslave, and kill their own people?
When Churchill was pushed to rush into some one-sided treaty for the appearance of peace, Churchill shouted, “When will the lesson be learned? How many more dictators must be wooed, appeased until we learn the lesson, you cannot reason with a lion when your head is in his mouth.” China is the lion and they are slowly but surely inserting our head into their mouth. And by the time we realize their jaws clamping down on us, it will be too late to negotiate ourselves out of it.
Despite his lack of decorum and political statesmanship, Churchill will go down as a great leader because of his strength and his fearlessness. He once said, “Success is not final. Failure is not fatal. It is the courage to continue that counts.”
73 million Americans voted for Trump, not because of his statesmanship and his rhetoric skills but because of his strength and his fearlessness. Trump has shown the courage to fight for America and for each of us until the end against enemies both foreign and domestic. It is far better to go down fighting for America than to surrender to globalism where our interests will be subjugated to the interests of other nations.
This is what scares me most going forward, we will have a President who is not strong enough and is too embedded with the Chinese to stand up against the existential threat they pose to our country. He will acquiesce to them in the name of political expediency and to appease his special interest at the expense of America’s strength and sovereignty.
When the threat of the Nazis was the most-dire, and his war cabinet was advising him to surrender, Churchill said, “Nations that go down fighting rise up again, those who surrender tamely, perish.” China is at war with us. We have two choices, stand up and fight, or surrender and perish.

Lynch Mob = U.S. Congress

Most likely I will receive some pretty harsh criticism for expressing my views here today, but since I last checked my First Amendment right to freedom of speech is still in effect. Last week, I watched in horror as a mob of protesters stormed the US Capital building for what purpose we don’t know, and maybe we will never know. All I saw was an action that would destroy the legacy of one of the greatest president’s we have had since Ronald Reagan.

What happened fits the definition of a mob lynching. Except, this time it is a white man being lynched for supposedly inciting a riot. His life is not to be taken literally as in an actual lynching, except his political, and career-life is being destroyed under the pretext of service to justice.

A lynching is a killing by a mob of people. The NAACP later agreed that for a killing to qualify as a lynching, the killers had to act under pretext of service to justice, their race or tradition. …

The rush to impeach the President is nothing short of a hate crime being perpetrated upon the victim. Since his own inauguration one year ago, the Washington mob has been working overtime to destroy the man and his presidency. The Speaker of the House has very openly expressed a desire to bring the man down. The speedy action being taken by the world to condemn Trump is without a grand jury, trial by peers, and a jury verdict. Where is the man’s Fifth & Sixth Amendment right to process. All these people want is to destroy the man.

Page from my book Nightmares From Obama

Maybe I am looking at this myopically, but I cannot fathom why Trump and his followers provoke so much hatred by the Democrats, Never Trumpers, and the Press. Only one thing justifies such hatred, Donald Trump shut off a good thing. First of all, he invented and liberally used the term Swamp to define the layers of bureaucracy that permeate our system. His attitude toward the Swamp was one of elimination, not promotion. The US Government budget exceeds trillions of dollars, and most of our Congressmen are in it to get a piece of that pie. I also truly believe that the many bureaucracies working within the Departments also skim from the trillion dollar pie. Can I prove that, no, but I cannot prove mass dishonesty within the voting system either, but I am not totally deaf yet, and I hear things going on. Former Chicago Democrat mayor Richard J Daley promoted “machine politics” and looked upon the graft as good for the community. Every big city in the country now practices machine politics and uses the city budgets to promote graft. Look at the condition of the cities, all of them are blighted, murder capitals, while the City Councilmen are living the high life to the detriment of citizens.

In days of yore the lynch mob did not check to see if they were right or wrong, they acted. Often they hung a person who was not guilty of any crime. The problem with that kind of justice is that it cannot give a person’s life back. In the case of President Trump, his professional life is most likely already destroyed no matter whether the Congress impeaches him or not. The speed with which all his enemies have gone to denounce him has registered across the world. Most likely, he will die a pauper impeached, or not. What the Democrats fear the most is that we the people will re-elect him if he is given another chance. They must slay the dragon, or it will rise again to eat the slayer.

The Congress highlighted their hypocrisy during this event. Throughout the summer of 2020 when western cities were being burned by protestors, and policemen killed, the Congress had it’s head stuck in the sand with it’s ass standing tall mooning us. During last week’s protest turned riotous it is different, because it was the Congress whose house was threatened, it was the Congressmen who had to hide from harm, it was personal. Of course they all shamelessly cowered behind the curtain of harm to our Republic, but I know, and you know that this time it was their own ass in jeopardy.

The game of politics is ruthless and brutal. It is no longer a debating forum where the power of debate arguments convince the legislature to vote for or against a law. Politics has evolved into a win or lose game that will be the ultimate downfall of our Republic.

Self Diagnosis

Take this for what it is. I received it over the internet from a reliable source. That doesn’t mean it is correct. I think it is legitimate, and a fun exercise to determine if you are losing it.

Have you been diagnosed with Anosognosia ?

In the following analysis the French Professor Bruno Dubois Director of the Institute of Memory

and Alzheimer’s Disease (IMMA) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière – Paris Hospitals / addresses the subject

in a rather reassuring way:

“If anyone is aware of his memory problems, they do not have Alzheimer’s.”

1. I forget the names of families ..
2. I do not remember where I put some things ..

It often happens in people 60 years and older that they complain that they lack memory.  “The information is always in the brain, it is the “processor” that is lacking.”

This is “Anosognosia” or temporary forgetfulness.

Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease.
The most common cases are:
– forgetting the name of a person,
– going to a room in the house and not remembering why we were going there,
– a blank memory for a movie title or actor, an actress,
– a waste of time searching where we left our glasses or keys …

After 60 years most people have such a difficulty, which indicates that it is not a disease but rather a characteristic due to the passage of years …

Many people are concerned about these oversights hence the importance of the following statement:
“Those who are conscious of being forgetful have no serious problem of memory.”
“Those who suffer from a memory illness or Alzheimer’s, are not aware of what is happening.”

Professor Bruno Dubois, Director of IMMA, reassures the majority of people concerned about their oversights:

“The more we complain about memory loss, the less likely we are to suffer from memory sickness.”
Now for a little neurological test:  Only use your eyes!
