100,000 and Growing!

flag-fireworks1

Six years ago, when I began blogging, I never dreamed that my writing would have been seen and read over a hundred thousand times. This morning I passed the 100,000 views milestone. Thank you WordPress for allowing me this terrific venue for exposing the contents of my mind. By the way, over 90% of what goes on in my mind is X-rated so don’t look for it at any time. They say the mind is the last organ to go.

I learned too late, even though WordPress recommended following other bloggers, to build up my own followers, and I now have 440 followers. I have posted over 1260 articles, essays, cartoons, jokes, garden lies, and personal tidbits, so there is a variety of subject matter to amuse anyone who wants to know what goes on in the mind of a seventy-something old man.

THANK YOU followers and readers.

2013 in review

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 27,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 10 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.

When One Is Perfect in Every Way, It Is Hard to Be humble

Ankur Mithal a good blogging friend from Dark Office Humour nominated Grumpa Joe’s Place to receive the “One Lovely Blog Award.” Thank you Ankur, you are most gracious. I cannot express my sentiments well enough to convey how you have made me feel: thank you, thank you, thank you.

Ankur actually nominated me several weeks ago, but I have procrastinated and have done nothing about it. Why? Well the award comes with some strings. In order to accept this award and post the icon on this blog I must tell you stuff about me. The first is easy, I have to nominate fifteen blogs that I follow, the second is difficult. I must reveal seven things about myself. How do I do that without exposing myself as a pervert, a homophobe, an Islamaphobe, and racist. Wow, I just spit out  four things about myself and I haven’t even given you any good stuff yet.

Here are my seven revelations:

1. I believe in God as a Catholic.

2. I love colorful Flowers

3. Cooking has become my survival tool

4. I fantasize about publishing a wildly popular fiction novel

5. I converted to Conservatism from Liberalism when I was twenty-three

6. Even though I am classified as a gear head I love art, but hate poetry

7. My deceased wife still occupies my mind and heart

Here are my fifteen nominations:

1. Lady Blue Rose’s Thoughts Into Words

2. In House Counsel

3. The Obama Hustle

4. Tracie Louise Photography

5. Bandwagen

6. The Soulsby Farm

7. Chavisory’s Notebook

8. When Ginger Snaps

9. jambujoseph

10. Red Stripe Photography

11. The Conservative Hillbilly

12. Belle Grove Plantation

13. Losing Vision Gaining Insight

14. Yawper

15. Necessaryandpropergovernment

Now the final string is to notify these bloggers about their nomination.

Send Money

On this Memorial Day Weekend let us not forget those who have defended our flag and the people of Joplin Missouri who have suffered great losses as a result of the tornado.

As a member of the Frankfort Lions Club, I appeal to the people of WordPress , and all my friends to consider sending donations to the address listed below.  Here is a copy of a letter I received from the District 1B Governor  Lion John J O’Brien.

1-B Lions, Lioness, and Leos,

A Forwarded Message from Our District Governor John O’Brien and MD-1 on assisting in Joplin, MO

After a few calls from club members in our District asking what we can do to help in Joplin, Missouri, I was able to get thru to the District Governor in Joplin to ask what we could do to help.  She thanked us for the offer and she went on to say that seven (7) Lions in her district lost everything the owned, cars, houses, computers with years of photographs stored on them. They only had the clothing on their backs. Her Zone Chair and her husband went to the crawl space of their house only to emerge to open sky.

If Clubs in our District or individual Lions wish to help or contribute financially, below is the mailing information you need.

If you want to help out personally, the Lions Club House on the edge of town in Joplin,  suffered minimum damage and has become a gathering point in town.  They will be cooking food all weekend at the club house. Volunteers are able to stay at the club house, but there are no showers available at the Lions Club building. She asked if you come down to help, to wear your Lions Shirt or vest or bring your lions ID card to get past security.

Those wishing to offer monetary relief; please makes checks payable to:

MD26 M6, Joplin Relief Fund,

and mail to:

PDG Jim Wilson, Cabinet Treasurer

1551 E. Powell

Springfield, Missouri 65804

Thank you in advance for any help you send.
