A great lesson on how much the US Government spends with advice on what to do about it. This brief video by Blaise Ingoglia of Government Gone Wild is well done, concise, and informative.

Spending

The left will continue to attack people who are trying to reform the entitlement system. After watching this video you will understand why it needs to be reformed. This video is a MUST SEE for people before the elections in November.

A Soldier for the Progressive Movement

A few years ago I filed my income tax return on time as usual. A week after I filed, I received a 1099 from one of my savings accounts. Oh my God, I forgot to claim $90.00 of interest. What do I do?  I did what most law-abiding citizens of the USA would do, I filed an amended return. My mind was at ease, I began to sleep well  again.

A month later, I received a notice from the dreaded IRS. The letter proclaimed that I had not claimed $90 of interest from a bank account. Also, they listed about six other infractions from earlier years which they said I had not claimed. None of them were over $25.00.

What amazed me was the detail of their claims and the speed with which they were able to make the claims. The other part that amazed me more was they totally ignored my amended claim.

The IRS demanded I clear up the matter immediately or they would go after me for the “many” infractions they had listed. Being scared-to-death about a life in prison for ninety dollars, I also forgot about the amended claim and complied. I sent them the documentation requested and the fine they said I owed.

A month later I received acknowledgement of my amended claim. This was totally separate from their threatening letter demanding action on my part. Who the hell is in charge? Frankly folks, I will ignore any new demands the IRS makes of me. I will sooner have the satisfaction of them coming to take my over mortgaged house and me with it  than to give in to these mindless, emotionless, and soulless bureaucrats. I can hardly wait for Obama-Care to kick in so I can have some fun with them.

Change the  scene. A few weeks ago I listened to a news report of one Harry Reid (pictured above) making a claim that Mitt Romney has not paid his taxes. Are you kidding me? There is no way in hell the IRS is going to let anyone get away with not paying taxes. This is just an example of how far out of touch with reality that Senator Harry Reid from the good State of Nevada is.

The only people who will buy that Kool Aid are the ones who don’t pay taxes and believe it is the moral obligation of those who do to pay more. Harry Reid is a soldier for the Progressive movement and will kiss his commander’s ass at any opportunity. This time he missed and hit a new mark. The black hole sucked his dumb head right into where it belongs.

Obama Wants to “In-source”

No words needed, we all feel the pain of illegal immigration. We pay the taxes and the gov’m’nt borrows money to keep the illegals. In the meantime, the administration works feverishly to kill capitalism, and the job market for genuine tax paying citizens. Its Cloward-Piven strategy played to the max. Overload the welfare system to bankrupt the country, and make everyone dependent on the gov’m’nt. We are watching it happen right before our eyes and we are powerless to do anything to stop it. November isn’t coming soon enough.

Obama opens the border and encourages illegal entrants to in-source, and he kills jobs for citizens with regulation and taxes.

She Weeps for Many Reasons

She weeps for many reasons, but today marks a special event. The Supreme Court upheld Obama care as Constitutional because Congress has the right to impose a tax. The Supreme Court made the decision that Obama was not capable of making.

President Obama knew right from the start that the health care bill would never pass if he sold it as a tax. Especially after his campaign promise to not tax the middle class. Therefore, he and his cronies invented the ambiguous language which failed to define which it was (He speaks with a forked tongue). The Court saw through the subterfuge and decided for him. Now he has to live with the task of convincing the country that the single largest tax assault the US has ever seen is a good thing. This is another tax to pile onto the backs of the working class to make them tax-slaves to those who feed off of big government.

Lady Liberty cries because of the loss of Liberty we face with this regime. Justice Antonin Scalia gave us a Constitutional lesson regarding our loss of liberty and what we have to do if we don’t like the law. If we don’t like losing liberty, or this law, we should vote for new leadership, or in other words, throw the bums out. Let us show him that we are quick to learn and send the Constitution-Side-Stepper-in-Chief along with his head bobbing Senate packing

On the immigration issue, I  believe we should erect a Statue of Liberty along with a copy of Ellis Island at every legitimate entry point into the USA.  Perhaps the same symbol of liberty that greeted our immigrant parents will help solidify why a person wants to leave his home country to live in America.

Trying To Put My Head Around a Billion Dollars

The numbers being thrown around on the news these days are mind-boggling. Most of us can’t put a handle on the spending that goes on in the Federal Government. It is absolutely immense.

As an exercise, I decided to estimate my lifetime earnings and compare it to a billion dollars. I began working at age eleven and didn’t stop until I was seventy. That is a cool fifty-nine years of making money.  In the beginning my salary was modest compared to today’s standards. At graduation from college, my starting salary was $6800/year. My jobs were always good paying ones and I never complained about how much I made. Engineering paid well during my career. I estimate that I earned two million dollars over that fifty-nine year period (If only I had that 2 mil in my 401K today). Before you think of me as a hyper millionaire think about that. The 2 million over fifty-nine years averages out as $33,898 per year. I also estimate that I paid taxes of around four hundred and twenty thousand dollars over those same years.

Where am I going with this? I’m trying to put my head around a billion dollars.  It takes five hundred above average people, just like me, fifty-nine years to earn a billion dollars. Yet, we see the Feds throwing billions around like a billion was chump change. Now ramp that number up to a trillion, and it takes 500,000 people fifty-nine years to earn that much.

I still can't get the size of the number into my head

Last week, we learned that 289,000 federal workers collectively owe 3.4 billion dollars in taxes ($11,764 average per person).  That is not trivial. It seems to me the Chief Executive who continues to harp on us to pay more should put some executive pressure on the people who work directly for him. Well, you argue, they have the same rights as the rest of us, and must be treated under the same rules. I’m here to tell you that the IRS challenged one of my returns because I failed to claim  $2000 of income on one return, and they did it within two months after I filed. They also expected me to resolve things within thirty days or be faced with further audit. The difference between me, and federal workers is they know the administration will not go after them. They are the privileged. All it would take is one phone call from the BOSS to the head of the IRS and his wish would become their command. Why isn’t it happening?

It is not happening because the hype about taxing the rich has nothing to do with needing money, it is about exerting power and demonizing the “rich.”

Since the economy took a dump in 2008, I have personally cut my expenses by twenty percent. I feel that is not enough, and I am looking for more ways to economize because my 401K is shrinking fast.

My attitude was that I couldn’t afford not to have something because I am old and may not live to enjoy it. Now, my attitude is keep the nest egg, because if the economy collapses and inflation hits, I will be standing in the soup line with everyone else.

Let the government cut twenty percent before they begin squeezing us for more. If we don’t nag our representatives to cut spending and to do their jobs how in the world will we ever get this monster under control?
