While watching the riots around the country last week I wondered how long it would be before the creeps began to pick on George Washington. Well, yesterday I saw an article that showed poor bronze George laying laying face down wondering what the hell happened. I am wondering the same thing. There is nothing that divides a country more then civil strife. I often declare myself a bigot, and a racist, but I live with black neighbors as well as brown and yellow. These people are fine people. All they want is to live in peace, raise their families and to have a good life, they are okay, or at least they appear to be. Frankfort is a magnet for minority families because of the fine reputation of our schools. They come here to give their kids the same chance as I gave mine. They don’t want their kids hooked on drugs, nor recruited into gangs. Yet, Frankfort has both of these problems within the boundaries. My own grand daughters told me exactly where they could go within the school to get drugs. It was a different place for different desires. I read the police blotter in the locals and the number one reason for being pulled over is to examine for drugs. Lately there has been an explosion of burgled cars and homes. I can only reason that these thieves are feeding habits. The number one house that gets robbed is one with doors unlocked, the same for cars. Stolen cars are easy pickings when the owners leave them unlocked with the keys in the console.
What we haven’t seen yet in our town is unpeaceful protesting, rioting, and looting. These activities seem to be organized by political groups mostly leftist or communist for the purpose of creating division between peoples. These are ruthless criminal types that will betray their country for money. Many are highly educated and brainwashed into leftist thinking that they have it bad. Never do these people listen to logic nor understand statistics about how more black lives are lost within their own community perpetrated by blacks. Black lives don’t really matter if it is a black killing a black.
Blacks are progressing in this country. Although because I, a white man has said it they will disagree. There have been myriads of laws passed dictating that blacks are equal to whites, trillions of dollars have been spent to make their lives better, and it has done so, but they don’t think it is enough, they want reparation too. This rioting and protesting will only end when the entire country is communist, poor, and starving. In other words, never. We will never succumb to communism peacefully.
This week I heard the term “Juneteenth” for the first time. The word is completely strange to me, but since that first time it is a ll I’ve heard. Evidently, it is a term used to commemorate freedom from slavery. Southern states have been celebrating this day, but not in my half of the country. There is now a movement to make Juneteenth a National Holiday. I suppose the day will rival the National Holiday of July fourth with picnics and concerts on the National Mall, fireworks, parades, and time off from work. Hell, if we celebrate more and more none of us will have any time to work for a living. Life will be more acceptable if we didn’t have to work. What an awful four letter word work is.
Mohamad Ali Wabbit continues to harass the garden. My prized Sum and Substance is nearly gone to the ground. What will Mohamad do when it is? I will nurse the plant with fertilizer and pray that the root system is strong enough to regenerate new foliage. Where will Mohamad be while this process (six weeks) takes place. No doubt he will either hide again or move to another spot within the yard. While he hides, I will takes new measures to thwart his maneuvers to terrorize me and my flowers.
Last Vestige of Sum and Substance After Night Attack By Mohamad Ali-Wabbit
You may not be able to see it, but all around this formerly large plant are six smaller ones of a different Hosta species. All are eaten to the ground. I think this cell may be an arm of BLM (Bunny Lives Matter) a sub-group of Inter-Garden Epicurian Delights (IGED). All IGED are dedicated to the betterment of a minority class of denizen Oryctolagus cuniculus. They are ferociously attacking local gardens spreading the heresy of unequal rights, while enjoying satiating repasts of succulent young plantains. Does anyone care? No, all I get are comments that I’m a bunny hater who should be put away for violating the BLM movement. Meanwhile, locals are sending teary eyed pleas to George Szaros* to do something about gardener brutality.
In the meantime, I am on phone-hold with my domain host for forty-five minutes. It seems that my service is blocking content that I am sending to my family. I take offense to that. Why do I pay them an exorbitant fee to maintain my domain if only to be censored by them? I get no respect.
In the news, I was surprised to learn that Mad Dog Mattis has declared the President close to violating the Constitution with his remarks about sending Federal troops to bring peace back to rioting cities if their own governors cannot nor will not do so. The President has Constitutional authority to do what he has said. What Mad Dog failed to mention is that the particular act that allows the President to move in that direction has never been used for two hundred years, in other words, never. The fact remains that the Founder’s expected a day would come when insurrection would need federal control. The President is also accused of further dividing the country instead o reuniting it. It is my opinion that he is treating all groups the same. His proclamation to take action is giving the rioters the same process as would be given any other riotous group. He believes in law and order, and that we rule by law. The groups supporting these riots all want dispensation and approval for their actions. Trump’s actions apply the rules evenly. So what else can the rioters do but to proclaim racism, and unfair treatment?
I have no mercy for the rioters. They believe no one will listen to them unless they do damage and cause mayhem. I seem to recall that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. promoted peaceful protests. These are not peaceful protests. I really believe they are acts of insurrection against the federal government. At the very least they are acts of terrorism. The organizers must be found, apprehended, and given due process just to show them that they are equal to the rest of us.
With all the laws that have been passed over the past fifty years the balance has shifted in favor of people with color. Too many times smart kids are turned away from colleges while kids with lessor scholarship credentials are selected to go to the best schools (affirmative action for racial minorities). We have also lost our liberty when it comes to selling our homes. The equal rights act punishes us if we reject an offer from a black. It goes so far as to awarding the property to the rejected person and away from the rightful owner. Police have given up policing in neighborhoods that are too dangerous to enter. Why, because they don’t want to be held responsible for arresting someone who is guilty as sin for violating their civil rights. My hometown of Chicago is a prime example. I am not aware that stealing, looting, burning destroying property, and killing is a civil right that goes unprosecuted if you are a person of color.
When a liberal states that the president is guilty of of dividing the country he is saying that some races are more equal than others. If your great-great-great-great grandparents were slaves it gives you privileges. Meanwhile in some parts of the twenty-first century world slavery is still a practice and those enslaved are not rioting. The US is the only place in the world that has fought a war to stop slavery. It is also the only place where the liberal drive to make all people equal is turning into a civil war.
I’d sooner spend my time fighting Mohamad Ali Wabbit in my back yard.
George Szaros (translated: Szaros = shitty in Hungarian) not to be confused with George Soros who has the same reputation as George Szaros and who supports the human BLM with money to fuel riots, looting, burning, destroying property, and killing.
It must be the barometric pressure that is affecting me again today. My sorry butt has been dragging behind me since getting out of bed this morning. The sky is grey, it is threatening to rain, but it isn’t raining, but it did drizzle a bit. Whatever it is, by noon I was asleep on the couch pretending to read. One would think I got out of bed by six in the morning, but it wasn’t until 8:30 that it finally happened. Three and a half hours later I’m sleeping like I had shoveled a truck load of coal yesterday.
Funk Depression
Actually, last evening I spent a lovely hour on the phone with a young lady from our Lions club. She had just given notice that she and her son were leaving the club, and I had to know why. I found out more than I needed to know to answer my question. It wasn’t because of our failing as a club. Her son just turned twenty-four, and is having acute medical problems which was caused by his birth. He was born three months early and had a very rough time making it into this life. The medical effect was to put him on a drug that would take its toll on his kidneys at a later time in life. It is now that time. That puts him at great risk with the virus too. His choice was to accept life over a service club that puts him at risk of death with every activity he helps. We need direct contact with people in order to serve them. In fact, as Past President of the club I am going wild trying to find a way that we can serve without direct contact.
Because this is a pandemic, every Lions club in the world is affected the same way. What do we do? How do we do it? Those are the questions we wrestle with. Do we wait until the world is rock solid secure that COVID-19 will not affect us anymore? That might be twenty years from now.
Many clubs are having virtual fund raising activities. One in particular struck me as being novel, i.e. a virtual Five K run. No, you don’t imagine running five kilometers, you actually run the distance and report your time to the race officials online. They match your time against all the participants and award the prize to the fastest runner. It isn’t just the same as having a hundred runners show up at one place, register, and who then take off with the gun and fifteen minutes later show up again sweaty and pooped. It just isn’t the same, but people might just take the bait because it is different. The trick is to have a worthy cause to be raising money for.
This year, I will serve as our Club Service Chair which means I will have to stimulate people to find projects to work on. Most times we wait for the projects to come to us, but that leaves huge gaps between service. With lots of members who join to “give back” we need to offer them many opportunities to fulfill their needs. It will be my game to root out the opportunities. COVID has ruined several of our popular events in the Village. To date the Blue Grass Festival is cancelled, the Art on the Green is cancelled, Thursday night car shows are cancelled, and on and on. All of these events have deferred til next year. But, what if next year COVID-19 is still here in force? Do we go back into hiding, or do we begin taking chances with catching the damn bug and fighting back? My guess is that we will not hunker down again, but will fight it off.
Watching the country burn during this rash of riots caused by one man’s brutality against another’s will no doubt cause a spike in COVID. None of the rioters have paid much attention to social distancing, and wearing masks. At this moment I would not want to be in President Trump’s position. He upset the country by closing down and making us all hurt, and now he has to wave a big stick at us to end rioting.
To me the biggest joke is the organizers who really thought they could get away with storming the White House, and are now shouting that Trump is violating their civil rights. If I were president I would have had the entire riot force shot, and their bodies piled on the lawn in front of the White House while I would have stood on the pile brandishing my AK 47 in one hand and the American Flag in the other. That is only one of the many reasons I am not a politician.
I may not look like I lost weight, but I did. It has been eight weeks since my last haircut, and I looked shaggy. My hair was long enough to have a true Donald Trump wave. After three days of failed phone calls, my barber shop finally picked up and I made a reservation to get sheared.
BeforeAfter
The appointment was for mid-day which gave me a few hours in the morning to attack a new project in the garden.. I transplanted a perennial called Brunnera which flowers blue in the spring time. The rest of the season it has beautifully variegated foliage. It loves shade and was covered by two large perennials that over shadow it. Even I who planted it and knew where it was in the garden had trouble locating it for the dig.
Brunnera
The backside of my house is in shade most of the day so I thought what a great place for this plant. That is where it is right now, in the shade but fully visible to all. I foresee a few more sister plants to make a larger spread of the flowers.
A second project was to locate an overgrown downspout drain in the lawn and to unplug it. It took a little probing in the lawn to strike the plastic pipe, Once found, I dug out the grass that had overgrown it. The thing was completely covered with grass roots and one could be standing on it and not know it. Next came a long hose to reach the downspout and to rush water into the underground drain. It took a few minutes but water finally began gushing out of the drain onto the lawn. Success. One down and six to go. These plugged drains are the cause of my gutters over flooding water. I might as well not have gutters the way these work.
Today is the day I spend with my friends at the Stray Bar. The bar opened over the weekend but it is limited to serving outside on their patio where the tables must be six feet apart, and no groups larger than ten are permitted. After knocking down a few at the Stray I go home to attend a Zoom meeting with my Lions Club Board of directors. Evidently churches and clubs are not considered important enough to allow meetings to occur normally.
Rumors of expected riots within Frankfort are just that, rumors. No such activity has occurred yet. Our town is too little to be significant in the scheme of things. I do know that we have lots of neighbors who are black. They live with us peaceably and are just as upset about the riots as we whites are. I venture to estimate that there are blacks living in every neighborhood within our town. They move here to get their kids into good schools and away from gangs.
Our Chief of Police published a letter stating how terrible he thought the George Floyd killing was, and he assured us that the men on the Frankfort force were trained to arrest people in a civilized manner. I hope he is correct, and that he hasn’t hired that one bad apple that spoils the bunch
The one positive benefit of the Floyd George incident has been the news switched from talking non-stop about COVID-19 to street riots and his death. So far, no-one has complained about not hearing news on COVID. Frankly, I am one who has lost interest in the virus, and my attitude has switched to “if I get it, I get it.” I’ll deal with it if and when it hits me. Of course when I catch it, news about the virus will become the main issue.
It is tempting to restart a new log starting with “Day 1-“. Last night I walked down to the center of town and found many happy people eating, drinking, talking, laughing like they were having a good time. This morning I received a phone call from my nephew who reported that I should stay away fronted Orland Mall because of a report he got about an mob riot planned there today. Since then the expected mob has been verified by local police reports, and businesses just reopened have been shut down.
All morning and into the afternoon friends have been texting me of reports of the riot mob and their progress across the suburban area of Chicago. I always thought a riot was a spontaneous outburst of violence brought on by some provocating act. When the riot is caused by an army of people from outside the community to provoke violence I define it as a war. Was should be treated differently than a riot. War is an act of aggression on the populace for the purpose of overtaking their property. In my opinion, it should be met with force and the goal to end it to defeat the aggressors with death.
It is obvious that the death of a black man at the hands of Minneapolis police has stimulated a new movement which at this point doesn’t have a new name yet, but it is definitely not spontaneous it is well organized and funded by some larger movement within our society. My guess is that it is left wing, probably communist in origin. They don’t give a rats ass about the guy who died at the hands of a merciless cop, but rather they do want to overthrow the government so they can rule ruthlessly to meet their own agenda. The man who died was a local problem. People in Chicago, don’t really give hoot about problems in Minnesota just as Minnesotans don’t give a hoot about Chicagoans. If they did they would be down here rioting at anytime when there are ten blacks killed in a single weekend. In the case of Chicago, the deaths of blacks is not at the hands of white cops, but at the hands of blacks. It is okay if blacks kill blacks, but God help us if a black is killed by a white. If a white is killed by a cop, or by a black, it is unreported but cheered behind the scenes.
We are racially divided today more than we were before this stupidity of a far left agenda began over forty years ago. It gets worse every year, and sad to say the first black president only fuels the divide. I for one hoped he would change things for the good. He changed things but only for the worse. Trump has made an effort to unite the blacks and was mildly successful until now. It is my opinion that his success is the reason for the black uprising. The black leaders who have struggled for years to make their people part of the communist system recognize that they are losing ground and have to stir things up to fan the flames of revolution. Pour acid into the wounds of the black man and blame it on whitey so the black can be brought back into line with the party that holds them.
If I were mayor, governor, or president today, I would meet these people head on at the border and arrest them all be they peaceable or not. Blood would flow, but it would end quickly and without any time for lawyers to get involved in defending peoples rights. My actions would be to take the lawyers out too.
Someday, I may need a lawyer to help me get out of jail, and I will beg for mercy, but as soon as he does his job, I’ll be back at deriding him until he is in jail too. The entire legal system is just that a system. Lawyers are trained to know the system and to play by the rules. Laws are written by lawyers so they can easily defend or prosecute individuals for breaking the laws. There is no human compassion involved in the laws, only black and white did you do it or not? When things get grey the system is supposed to make the prosecutor prove without a doubt that I am guilty. If he can’t declare me guilty or he can change the charge to something lessor to make me guilty. The bottom line is that in the legal system we so love to behold we will never win if the prosecution doesn’t want us to. One reason blacks don’t like the system is because cops always find a way to beat the charge against themselves.
Even in the case of George Floyd the blacks see only the evidence of the cop holding the man down with his knee on the black man’s neck. They don’t listen to ,nor do they want to know that George didn’t die on the spot, he died four days later. The blacks can only riot and proclaim that the man begged for air, Well he had to be getting air from someplace because he lived for four days after the event. No one sees that as a clue that maybe there was something else that occurred that caused him to die, and not the knee on his neck. In their emotions to get justice (revenge) over whitey they demand on the spot correction of the problem. In other words the cop should have been executed on the spot and hung up on public display. Video evidence shows without a shadow of doubt that the man was treated brutally for his time.
I have a problem with why he was put in cuffs i the first place. It is rumored that he was caught passing a bad check for twenty dollars. Yes that is a crime, but does stealing twenty dollars mean you get handcuffed and thrown to the ground on your belly with your arms tied behind your back while a man with serious personal problems holds you in place with his foot on your neck? The answer is NO.
People get away with twenty dollar crimes everyday in America. The blacks believe only they get treated like George Floyd. Is that reason enough to organize riots all across America to loot, burn, and destroy property of innocents? The answer is NO.
Most likely, I don’t have all the facts at hand to simplify the situation. I don’t know if George resisted arrest, if he didn’t’ then the cop is at fault for brutality. If he did resist arrest he should have known that cops don’t like resistance from people they apprehend and will take overly cautious measures to protect themselves and their coworkers from harm. My guess is that George tried to get away. Was the knee on the neck necessary to subdue George, I don’t know, but I think not. He could have been subdued another less brutal way like locking him into the back of a police car.
My step son was a cop. He came upon a burglary in process one night and entered the building to stop the crime. He was involved in a scuffle with the perpetrator. Guns were involved with a wrestling match trying to take control of the weapon. The burglar was losing the match when he decided to bite the cop in the arm to make him let go. He sunk his teeth deep into his forearm and he did let go and was able to run, but was apprehended immediately by the back up. The cop was sent to the hospital for stitches and tetanus shots, and had limited motion in his arm having damaged tendons. He was put on leave until all the facts were known. The burglar filed charges against the cop stating this civil rights were violated. The cop was on suspension for nine months while the courts sorted out the facts. The perpetrator lived happily in jail while the cop sweated losing his job, and spent countless hours in rehab getting his arm motion back for nine months. The outcome was in favor of the cop, but he lost his drive to be an aggressive cop. He figured why am I busting my buns for breaking up a robbery and putting myself at risk for losing a job or even my life? The gun could have fired while they struggled and gone the wrong way. Cops are taught to shoot first and answer questions later. That system saves cop lives. The cop that subdued George Floyd took serious action to subdue him before George had opportunity to do him harm.
Would we have seen the video if it showed George killing the cop? My guess is NO we wouldn’t have seen it. A black man killing a white cop doesn’t make news.
