Shift the Paradigm

Quit Looking At the World Through Your Ass

During the last debate I heard some pretty wild claims that President Trump is responsible for 240,000 deaths from COVID-19. I also heard his rival Joe Biden promise that he had a plan that follows the science and that will protect us from COVID-19 deaths. The problem is that he didn’t really explain what his plan is. I think we are looking at the problem totally wrong. We shouldn’t be looking at how many deaths there were, but rather how many lives were saved.

All of the claims are based on following the science. The only science anyone has are the predictive models. All of the scientific models used back in March, 2020 predicted over that over 1.7 million deaths will occur if no action whatsoever is taken. Without any knowledge of how the virus spread, or why it spreads so quick, or why it affects some people and not others was totally unknown. All the science knew was based on experience gained from previous viruses like H1N1, SARS, and MERS.

Biden very boldly claimed the President is responsible for all the 224,000 COVID-19 deaths in the United States. I rather like the fact that the President saved 1.5 million lives with the action he took as early as he did.

Biden’s logic that his new COVID-19 plan will save lives. Joe’s plan, as far as I know it, is exactly the same as Trump’s which began in March, 2020, and will save the same number of lives that Trump’s plan is doing. Testing is another complaint that Biden has. Testing does not kill the virus, it merely lets us know who does or doesn’t have the virus at the time of the test. One could go home from the test and get it. But Biden believes that everyone in the country should be tested and the responsibility of testing should be given to the Federal government (another Bureaucracy in the making). If we choose to do that we will be looking for adequate testing capacity two years from now. Another part of his plan is to involve the federal government in how you will protect your people in the workplace. Again, a noble idea but scary as hell. I, for one, would not want the Feds to come into my place of business and dictate how I should run my process. I will protect my workers by the best means I have, but one of the means is not the Federal government. Biden’s plan is expensive, time consuming, and redundant. Trump put together a viable plan in less than two months bringing ventilator production on line, developing and implementing testing, and manufacturing PPE for the country. What new things Biden brings to the table with his plan is negligible.

No doubt, what is not shown in Biden’s plan are new laws that will make not wearing a mask, and not social distancing at all times, a federal offense punishable by huge fines and jail time.

What we need is a presidential candidate who does not ride on the success of his rival but rather depends on the common sense of we of the people to control the virus. All of Biden’s actions do not erase the virus they merely delay one from getting it, and we can do that ourselves. As long as there is COVID-19 there will be deaths attributed to it, even when we have drugs that will keep us alive.

Just as Obama Care has a death panel whose job it is to decide who will be treated and who will not, I’m sure Biden-Care will treat COVID-19 patients with the same compassionate care and allow nature take it’s course when dealing with difficult to treat souls.

I got it, > you don’t like him. He is serving you and ALL the American people…no one in the swamp or George Soros circle owns him AND he has a real agenda for the next four years. Look past the buffoon, it is the results and policies that matter, not the personality that drives them

Cold Callers

Is it just me, or is there an inordinate amount of people calling who are interested in wasting my time with their sales pitch? I try to be polite to these callers, but that is asking a lot when they insist on being aggressive in their approach. The latest barrage of callers is trying to make me switch out my insurances. I tell them I am very happy with a forty year relationship with my insurance company, and the caller has the audacity to ask why am I so happy? One reason is because I don’t get aggravating calls from my guys and gals, but they do listen when I call them. That is when they make me very happy.

Over the last four years I have been questioning myself over the sanity of keeping a telephone line. Ninety-nine percent of the calls I receive are from telemarketers, and or scams. Why do I continue to pay a high price to have a service at my disposal that is not being utilized? How stupid can one be? Two stupid is what I say. I have two phone systems at my hand and only one of them is mildly useful. I have to admit that I like my cell phone much better than the land line. At least with my smart phone I can get the caller streamed right into my ears through Bluetooth. That means I can hear the caller. On the land, line I rely on getting the noise transmitted to my hearing aid microphone which does a somewhat crappy job of interpreting the noise and translating it into intelligible speech. My calls kind of go like this:

“Please speak louder I can barely hear you.”

“IS THIS BETTER?”

“Yes, but only slightly”

The caller then realizes he has a crack-pot on the phone and tries to hurry the call. I say, “please slow down your speech, I am very hard of  hearing and it takes me more time to process what you are trying to say.”

“Ohh, I’mm soorrry, I’ll try to speaak morre cleaarly.”

“You still sound like you are calling from a sewer in China.”

Thus goes the conversation, but inevitably I’ll finally figure out what the person is selling and then end the call. My goal is to make certain the caller is as relieved as I am at ending.

Things might be better if the phone services would send all the sound over the lines. In their attempt to streamline and reduce costs they eliminate much of the digital signal. I now understand why there is a resurgence in sales of vinyl records. People seem to believe that the sound they get from an old fashioned vinyl disk is much more rich than that of the digital noise they get from Apple.

Add the complications of phone companies trying to conserve bandwidth to the sound interface between the caller’s microphone to my telephone receiver, to my hearing aid microphone, and then into my tired ear mechanism and multiply it by the caller’s national dialect, his inability to enunciate, and the speed with which he speaks, and I don’t care. I think the phone companies should pay me for the calls they put through because of the extra time it takes me to get rid of these callers.

Some of the worst calls come from the Mid-eastern countries that learned to speak English from the British and have mixed it with their native language. To me they sound like they are speaking with a mouth full of marbles while under water.

Over the past many calls I have learned not to answer immediately. If I hesitate and stay quiet the call doesn’t connect me to the recording or an actual human. I wait for them to say hello and ask for me before I engage. When they do engage I wait long enough to learn what they are pitching and then hang up. I will often try searching for the number to determine where the call originated. Usually, I  learn that the company has a block of numbers from which they call. So If I place a block on a caller another caller from the same place will call a day later.

After insurance salesman, the next most aggravating caller is the professional fund raiser. My most polite answer is that “I can’t afford a thing at this time, thank you for calling” click. The worst experience is when I am too slow in responding and the guy takes off like a rocket with his spiel and I have to get a word in edgewise. Usually that occurs when he asks for an answer to a yes, I will donate question. I will tell him I can’t and he immediately goes into another endless rant about the importance of supporting his cause. When I finally get a moment to speak I say. “You didn’t hear me did you, I can’t” CLICK. The ugliest trick is when I put the receiver down and walk away. Eventually the phone gives me the disconnect signal.

None of these ploys is fun, nor is it exciting to me in any way. At times I empathize with the poor guy calling because it is his job and I begin to think about his situation  with a wife and ten kids at home all in college for a nano-second and then regain my sensibility. You have to love rejection to have a job like that, and I would have to be desperate hungry to become a telemarketer.

Terror In the Night

Mohamad Ali Wabbit continues to harass the garden. My prized Sum and Substance is nearly gone to the ground. What will Mohamad do when it is? I will nurse the plant with fertilizer and pray that the root system is strong enough to regenerate new foliage. Where will Mohamad be while this process (six weeks) takes place. No doubt he will either hide again or move to another spot within the yard. While he hides, I will takes new measures to thwart his maneuvers to terrorize me and my flowers.

Last Vestige of Sum and Substance After Night Attack By Mohamad Ali-Wabbit

You may not be able to see it, but all around this formerly large plant are six smaller ones of a different Hosta species. All are eaten to the ground. I think this cell may be an arm of BLM (Bunny Lives Matter) a sub-group of Inter-Garden Epicurian Delights (IGED). All IGED are dedicated to the betterment of a minority class of denizen Oryctolagus cuniculus. They are ferociously attacking local gardens spreading the heresy of unequal rights, while enjoying satiating repasts of succulent young plantains. Does anyone care? No, all I get are comments that I’m a bunny hater who should be put away for violating the BLM movement. Meanwhile, locals are sending teary eyed pleas to George Szaros* to do something about gardener brutality.

In the meantime, I am on phone-hold with my domain host for forty-five minutes. It seems that my service is blocking content that I am sending to my family. I take offense to that. Why do I pay them an exorbitant fee to maintain my domain if only to be censored by them? I get no respect.

In the news, I was surprised to learn that Mad Dog Mattis has declared the President close to violating the Constitution with his remarks about sending Federal troops to bring peace back to rioting cities if their own governors cannot nor will not do so. The President has Constitutional authority to do what he has said. What Mad Dog failed to mention is that the particular act that allows the President to move in that direction has never been used for two hundred years, in other words, never. The fact remains that the Founder’s expected a day would come when insurrection would need federal control. The President is also accused of further dividing the country instead o reuniting it. It is my opinion that he is treating all groups the same. His proclamation to take action is giving the rioters the same process as would be given any other riotous group. He believes in law and order, and that we rule by law. The groups supporting these riots all want dispensation and approval for their actions. Trump’s actions apply the rules evenly. So what else can the rioters do but to proclaim racism, and unfair treatment?

I have no mercy for the rioters. They believe no one will listen to them unless they do damage and cause mayhem. I seem to recall that Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. promoted peaceful protests. These are not peaceful protests. I really believe they are acts of insurrection against the federal government. At the very least they are acts of terrorism. The organizers must be found, apprehended, and given due process just to show them that they are equal to the rest of us.

With all the laws that have been passed over the past fifty years the balance has shifted in favor of people with color. Too many times smart kids are turned away from colleges while kids with lessor scholarship credentials are selected to go to the best schools (affirmative action for racial minorities). We have also lost our liberty when it comes to selling our homes. The equal rights act punishes us if we reject an offer from a black. It goes so far as to awarding the property to the rejected person and away from the rightful owner. Police have given up policing in neighborhoods that are too dangerous to enter. Why, because they don’t want to be held responsible for arresting someone who is guilty as sin for violating their civil rights. My hometown of Chicago is a prime example. I am not aware that stealing, looting, burning destroying property, and killing is a civil right that goes unprosecuted if you are a person of color.

When a liberal states that the president is guilty of of dividing the country he is saying that some races are more equal than others. If your great-great-great-great grandparents were slaves it gives you privileges. Meanwhile in some parts of the twenty-first century world slavery is still a practice and those enslaved are not rioting. The US is the only place in the world that has fought a war to stop slavery. It is also the only place where the liberal drive to make all people equal is turning into a civil war.

I’d sooner spend my time fighting Mohamad Ali Wabbit in my back yard.

  • George Szaros (translated: Szaros = shitty in Hungarian) not to be confused with George Soros who has the same reputation as George Szaros and who supports the human BLM with money to fuel riots, looting, burning, destroying property, and killing.

Day 73-SIP-It’s Over

It’ll be different writing a post everyday without the thematic SIP status. Yesterday our town of Frankfort, IL officially opened the businesses in town thus ending the Stay in Place order. As I rode my two wheeled convertible through the town on the bike path I saw Kansas street blocked with concrete barriers we often see in front of US embassies around the world. The Village fathers agreed to donate the street to the resident restaurants, three of them, a place to serve meals. It was cool to see the colorful umbrellas dotting the streetscape. There were actually people there too, even though it was still the middle of the day. Our residents are hungry for food and socialization. The servers wore masks.

A quick check of the verified Covid infections in our county is down again and hopefully diminishing to zero. The bike path was very crowded with bikers, strollers, and walkers. Everyone seems happy, but were still cautiously hugging the edges of the path to maintain distancing. How easily we were trained, and no one dangled a piece of cheese in front of us to get us to behave that way. I guess the prospect of death is more effective than cheese.

The temperature today is a bit chilly compared to the week gone by. It will keep me in the house until the sun warms things up to the seventies at least. I have my eye on a patch of wild strawberries that is invading my yard. I am paying for last summer’s neglect. I proudly bragged to my friends last year that I didn’t pull a single weed and thus the garden reverted to what it does best, it grew. The trouble with letting it go is that what grew best were what I call native perennials, sometimes referred to as weeds. June is rumored the peak growing season in our horticultural zone 5, and it is proving the rumor. I can see things that look ugly growing taller as I walk by them. The amount of work required to neaten things up is exponential as the sun shines longer each day. As long as I am looking at things in this manner the funk will not invade my psyche like it did yesterday. Thank you Lord for getting me through yesterday.

Later this afternoon we will watch the second attempt to launch our astronauts into space. The weather last Wednesday was not correct for a safe launch so it was scrubbed. The prediction at this moment is a fifty percent chance of the rocket firing for the same reason, i.e. conditions are not optimum.

What makes this space launch special is that it is being done by a private company and not the government. When NASA launched, the success rate was very high and we, the population. actually got bored with the missions. Now that SpaceX is doing the deed, we again think it is exciting. Probably because we like fireworks and the idea of watching a billion dollar rocket blow up is thrilling. Space flight development is no different than ordinary flight development during the age of the Wright brothers. The simple difference is that building a kite is much simpler than building a control-fired bullet the size of the Empire State building. Although, at the time Orville and Wilbur Wright took as much care in proceeding as does SpaceX. Another difference is that Orville and Wilbur kept things quiet. I think because they didn’t want to excite authorities to their amusements on the beach and cause them to be sent to the looney bin for endangering the sea life along the Atlantic shores. In today’s scene the lunacy is trusting a for profit company to be in charge. How do we know that each part of the assembly was made to rigid specifications by certified US vendors, and not by a Chinese vendor who cuts corners, uses materials that are less than pure, and certifies to doing things right, and is the lowest bidder?

While all this goes on America burns. I am sure the latest uprising is fueled by politics, but executed by blacks who like to jump at any opportunity to destroy and kill whitey. I watched the video of the Minneapolis policeman with his foot on the neck of a man who was being apprehended. It appeared to me that the guy was down and in hand cuffs he didn’t need to be restrained by a jackboot between his head and shoulders. It was extreme to say the least. What incites the blacks is when their idea of justice is not practiced, They would have wanted the policeman who was responsible for that treatment to be immediately apprehended, tried, found guilty and executed in the street within a few minutes of the event. Anything short of that is cause for riots, looting, burning and killing all across the country. What is even sadder is that we have police who take out their frustrations on victims with brutality. When the victim is black, the brutality factor seems to escalate by several factors of ten. I will never volunteer to be a policeman. The job gets worse and worse. These guys are expected to be psychologists and warriors who can determine in split seconds the difference between someone who is resisting arrest legitimately, or someone who is resisting with the intent to kill you, and escape to kill someone else too.

Minneapolis Riots, May 29, 2020

Though we have been conditioned in a mere seventy-two days to become docile COVID prisoners our attempts for the last one hundred and fifty-five years to treat blacks like humans has failed. Will it ever happen? I don’t know, but I believe we have a better chance of developing a vaccine for COVID-19 before we find a way to live with blacks.

A Sign of Distress
