What the Heck Did He Say?

A few weeks ago, I watched the President welcome the President of China Hu Jintao. For once Obama was fairly brief. He knew he was speaking through an interpreter so he kept his phrases short. That gave the interpreter time to convert his words into Chinese for President Hu.

I watched about two minutes of the welcome speech, because most of it became listening to a Chinese interpreter. I couldn’t help but wonder what  he was saying that took so long? I had so many questions like who did this guy work for? If he was on Hu’s payroll, what bull crap was he feeding his president? If he was on Obama’s payroll, what hidden agenda was being transmitted right before our eyes and ears? Is this a new form of hidden transparency?

How do we know what was going on? Is the Chinese language so complex that it requires ten words or noises to utter a simplistic greeting? I smelled a rat and turned it off.

I know from my own experience that speaking with a Chinaman in English is very difficult. Speaking through an interpreter is probably impossible. Both of these guys are smart cookies. Both are smart enough to know that they can look like they are having an intelligent dialogue without the  other knowing what the hell he is talking about. Neither would want to lose face by admitting they don’t understand. How else did a simple ‘hello’ become a two minute dialogue?

When Does Inflation Begin?

It is not necessary to remind you of what is going on in the super market these days.

Last week, Grandma Peggy and I stopped by the supermercado to pick up some basics. We walked out with a single small bag and sixty dollars less in our pockets. I needed gas, so we went to the BP for a fill up. The Death Star rarely takes more than twelve gallons, but that day it took twelve. The bill was forty dollars. Between a few groceries and a fill up we spent $100 bucks. That is enough to break the bank when you  are on a fixed income.  Seniors didn’t get a COLA adjustment this year because inflation is so low. Everyone knows that COLA is the acronym for Cost of Living Adjustment. Those of us depending on Social Security did not get that measely little adjustment, but our great Representatives and Senators gave themselves a very significant increase in salary. So significant in fact, that their increase was about forty percent of what we get for the year.

It seems to me that we pay these guys way too much to wreck our economy and society. They don’t listen to the voice of the people yet they think so highly of their effort to turn us into a socialist society they gave themselves a pay raise to flaunt it.

When I challenge my financial advisor about the need to put my 401K into vehicles that fight inflation, he argues that there is no inflation. Well what the heck is driving prices to go up? “It is the value of the dollar.”  Well how do we increase the value of the dollar? The government has to stop spending so much. But a weak dollar is good for the economy. Really? Yes, When the dollar is low, foreigners can buy more of our products with their money. A weak dollar is good for business.

Yep! A weak dollar is good for foreigners, and it shrinks the buying power of every American. That is another example of income redistribution. It makes a lot of sense doesn’t it? Have any of our illustrious representatives looked at the balance of trade lately?  I doubt it, they are too busy having their high paid staffs read the funny papers to them.

I can’t imagine how tough things will be when we begin to see inflation on top a shrinking dollar.

Write, call, e-mail your Congressman and  Senator and ask them to stop the insane spending. They are heading us right back into slavery a lot faster than it took to emancipate it.

Tweak the Wreck to Make it Work

Awhile back, another Progressive Liberal President spoke to the Democrat controlled Congress and told them to pass a universal health care law. Pass it no matter how bad it is, you can always fix it later. In his State of the Union Speech. President Obama was very direct when he said he would not undo Obama care, but he would entertain fixing some of the objectionable parts of it. He also remade a statement that he would listen to any ideas proposed by those opposed. Really?

If President Obama thinks he can fix the clunker he invented by tweaking it, he is a danger to himself and should be committed. Perhaps we are wrong and he really is the second coming of Christ. Excuse me, Christ is not politically correct as the One who can make miracles. Maybe he is the second coming of Allah.

The only way to fix this clunker is to send it to the shredder fast. After it is on its way to Progressive heaven he can entertain some real free market solutions that will work.

I’m afraid that sitting in the front row at Trinity United Church for twenty years of listening to the tenets of Black Liberation Theology has brainwashed him into believing that Marxist solutions work. Meanwhile Marxist countries have rejected the philosophy in favor of freedom and capitalism. China pretends to be Marxist, but is gleefully embracing capitalism to save its population from starvation. Russia has also embraced capitalism and personal freedom. It is quickly becoming an economic powerhouse. That leaves President Obama with North Korea, Cuba, and Venezuela as the model for the twenty-first century Marxist utopia.

I don’t buy Marxism, Socialism, Liberalism, or Progressivism because they all take away man’s God-given right to liberty and the pursuit to happiness in favor of  all men being treated equal at the expense of liberty, free will, and the freedom to  realize his human potential.

By the way, the other President that gave BO the invaluable advice to pass anything then fix it later was none other than Bill Clinton. I can hardly wait for a scandal to break out with BO and a liberal cutie in the Oval office.

Need a Bomb Shelter?

Maybe it is just me, but the Progressive types don’t seem to care about natural laws. I consider the US Constitution to be in the same category of document as the Ten Commandments. They have withstood the test of time, and are still valid today. You just can’t argue with the validity. Yet, the Liberals want to modify these natural laws to suit their own stupid agenda. The ten commandments and the US Constitution make too much sense, and they must be demonized and rewritten to make their own ideas seem viable. The latest argument, is that Conservatives are using the Constitution as the basis for a new religion. Actually, I think that is a good argument, because as a conservative, I do uphold the constitution with the same respect as I do the ten commandments and the bible.

Liberals argue that old documents like the Constitution are written in language that is hard to understand. They also pretend to be very intelligent and educated people. If they are so damned intelligent would it matter how difficult the language is to read? The same guys are probably all lined up to get into Shakespeare plays too.

They abhor the bible and the ten commandments because they are rules from God. Good liberals do not believe in God, therefore the commandments and the bible are irrelevant. They don’t believe in God, because they can’t see or touch Him. Therefore He must not exist. They lack faith in anyone but themselves, but their faith is hypocritical. Why? Because they also believe that Big Government knows what is good for them better than they know for themselves.

The cartoon portrays my feelings on the new START Treaty with Russia. The Russians have pulled a fast one on our administration. In our liberal direction of giving criminal countries equal standing in the world, we are literally giving away our position in the hierarchy of nations. Our foolish President and State Department really believes that by giving Russia, Iran, North Korea, and Venezuela equal status with the United States, that our relations will improve and there will be great peace on earth.

I think the economy will improve because of START. There will be a new building boom for bomb shelters.

The Tree of Life Keeps Giving

It might be my imagination, but this year I sense a spirit of caring that prevails across the country. Times are tough and people are out of work. I hear that a lot. It is what makes those who are working care for those who aren’t working. People not only care, they are giving from their hearts. I see Giving Trees at church, and at the Township Hall. I see people stuffing dollar bills into canisters at check out counters, I see people standing in front of super-markets with collection cans. Most are collecting for food. There are coat collection drives, toys for tots, and the list grows as the need increases. We are a giving nation, and conditions warrant taking care of those who are suffering, and I see people giving from their hearts.

Yes, Uncle does help, but only by placing a mortgage on the kids they help. Imagine if you were giving a gift to someone, but you made them sign a paper to pay it back with interest?  Uncle takes a big cut to keep high paid government workers voting his way.

Couldn’t we do better by ourselves?  Couldn’t private organizations do a better, more efficient job of taking care of those in need than Uncle? Yes we can, and we do.
