Forgive me if I rant a bit today. One of my pet peeves is giving African countries foreign aid. Before you go off on me let me just say that I contribute monthly to an organization in Africa called Upendo Village. Click on the link and you will see how foreign aid is administered by humans who are concerned about people in need, and not feeding their own egos. When I see the pictures of the starving kids with flies swarming about their heads I get choked up as any normal human does. It is when I read story after story about African dictators like Idi Amin, and now this guy Zuma that I get furious.
What in the hell does a guy from the obscure country of South Africa need a jumbo jet to haul his sorry ass non-stop from Pretoria to Moscow? I guess we call that the privilege of rank. Or another way to put it is that elections have consequences.
Thankfully, the people of South Africa are finally on to this guy, and they are in an uproar about his plan to spend so much on a new plane. There is rumor that he will not be allowed to spend the money.
Look at the features of this plane. It is a bargain at the price of four hundred million dollars. After all, President Trump just negotiated with Boeing to reduce the cost of the new Air Force One planes by a billion dollars each. I love Boeing. I think they make the best product in the world. I know because I helped them do it. I have climbed around inside airframes during assembly looking for opportunities to design our product better, to solve their problems and to cut their costs. I am sad that I don’t own any Boeing stock. Their stockholders are crying all the way to the bank with the reduced dividends inflicted by Trump’s negotiation to cut the cost.
If you look closely at Zuma’s plane you will notice it is without windows, maybe that is why his plane costs so much less than an Air Force One model. (Or maybe the photo represents fake news and is a picture of a freighter).
Air Force 1-A for South Africa
President Zuma, the current South African leader
President Zuma, is the current leader of South Africa. He has purchased the most expensive aircraft in the world for his own personal use and those of his hirelings and underlings.
BOEING 747-8 for President Jacob Zuma
Welcome aboard the custom-built plane that makes AirForce One look like
The Wright Brothers’ first effort.
These extraordinary images show an enormous jumbo jet that has been
converted into a luxury home for ZUMA
Complete with bedrooms, multiple lounges and an on board restaurant.
The custom-built Boeing 747 is believed to have cost South African taxpayers
$400 million. Making it one of the most expensive purchases of all time.
The jumbo jet would normally carry up to 600 passengers –but this version
was built for just one insane man, although he will be able to fit dozens of guests.
The level of luxury is out of this world.
The plane wouldn’t look out of place on Cribs.
Of course cable television and Internet are among the perks.
No need to fight for sofa space either, just the 14 TVs dotted about the vessel.
More sleeping space is provided in the “aeroloft” on the top deck of the vessel,
with eight double beds for passengers who prefer to get some shut-eye on flights.
You know it’s good when your plane has a stateroom.
Look out for this baby flying above you.
Does the United States of America provide aid to South Africa?
Yup- over $571,000,000.
Just enough to pay for this toy, with a little change leftover. Isn’t it heartwarming to see how our “Foreign Aid” is benefiting the underprivileged of other countries.
WHAT A WASTE OF OUR TAX $$$
