No Answer to An Answer

This week I received an e-mail from Senator Dick Durbin in response to a rebuttal letter I sent to discuss his response to my original letter to STOP the Border Madness Now. In my first letter I specifically addressed the influx of children coming into the United States without Visa’s (Illegal entry). Durbin responded with nicely drafted letter explaining how the D.A.C.A. (Which I learned is not a law, it is a Memo from Dictator Obama). I rebutted his response and specifically pointed out all the concerns he had not addressed in his wonderfully complicated response that reminded me of my son’s German Shepard chasing its tail. Posted below is the content of his e-mail response:   IMG   If his letter looks familiar it is because it an exact duplicate of the one he sent me in response to my original answer.

In other words, he does not answer his constituents letters, his computer does. If I wanted a computer as my Senator, I would program my Mac to do his job in Washington, and take his pay for doing so. He has been on the job for thirty-four years and is in Obama’s  pocket as well as those of his lobbyists. One would think that the voters of Illinois would know better, but my prediction is that he will win re-election in a landslide. Stupid is as stupid does.

This is My Home Country

I do not know Rosemary La Bonte nor her husband. All I know is that Rosemary wrote a beautiful letter to the editor of the Orange County Register, a California newspaper. It never got published. Her husband David took it upon himself to publish it for her. He sent it to friends via e-mail and asked them to keep it moving, and that is how I got it. Rosemary eloquently writes about immigration and the Statue of Liberty and what it means to her.. statue-of-liberty

Here is her husbands introduction to her letter:

For some reason, people have difficulty structuring their arguments when arguing against supporting the currently proposed immigration revisions. This lady made the argument pretty simple. NOT printed in the Orange County Paper … Newspapers simply won’t publish letters to the editor which they either deem politically incorrect (read below) or which does not agree with the philosophy they’re pushing on the public. This woman wrote a great letter to the editor that should have been published; but, with your help, it will get published via cyberspace! From: “David LaBonte

My wife, Rosemary, wrote a wonderful letter to the editor of the OC Register which, of course, was not printed. So, I decided to “print” it myself by sending it out on the Internet. Pass it along if you feel so inclined. Written in response to a series of letters to the editor in the Orange County Register:

The Statue of Liberty

Dear Editor:

So many letter writers have based their arguments on how this land is made up of immigrants. Ernie Lujan for one, suggests we should tear down the Statue of Liberty because the people now in question aren’t being treated the same as those who passed through Ellis Island and other ports of entry. Maybe we should turn to our history books and point out to people like Mr. Lujan why today’s American is not willing to accept this new kind of immigrant any longer. Back in 1900 when there was a rush from all areas of Europe to come to the United States, people had to get off a ship and stand in a long line in New York and be documented. Some would even get down on their hands and knees and kiss the ground. They made a pledge to uphold the laws and support their new country in good and bad times. They made learning English a primary rule in their new American households and some even changed their names to blend in with their new home. They had waved good-bye to their birth place to give their children a new life and did everything in their power to help their children assimilate into one culture. Nothing was handed to them. No free lunches, no welfare, no labor laws to protect them. All they had were the skills and craftsmanship they had brought with them to trade for a future of prosperity.

Most of their children came of age when World War II broke out. My father fought alongside men whose parents had come straight over from Germany, Italy, France and Japan. None of these 1st generation Americans ever gave any thought about what country their parents had come from. They were Americans fighting Hitler, Mussolini and the Emperor of Japan. They were defending the United States of America as one people. When we liberated France, no one in those villages were looking for the French-American or the German-American or the Irish-American. The people of France saw only Americans. And we carried one flag that represented one country. Not one of those immigrant sons would have thought about picking up another country’s flag and waving it to represent who they were. It would have been a disgrace to their parents who had sacrificed so much to be here. These immigrants truly knew what it meant to be an American. They stirred the melting pot into one red, white and blue bowl. And here we are with a new kind of immigrant who wants the same rights and privileges. Only they want to achieve it by playing with a different set of rules, one that includes the entitlement card and a guarantee of being faithful to their mother country. I’m sorry, that’s not what being an American is all about. I believe that the immigrants who landed on Ellis Island in the early 1900’s deserve better than that for all the toil, hard work and sacrifice in raising future generations to create a land that has become a beacon for those legally searching for a better life. I think they would be appalled that they are being used as an example by those waving foreign country flags. And for that suggestion about taking down the Statue of Liberty, it happens to mean a lot to the citizens who are voting on the immigration bill. I wouldn’t start talking about dismantling the United States just yet.

In support of Rosemary’s suggestion that we not take down the Statue of Liberty I have often thought that we should build carbon copies of Lady Liberty and place them at the official entry points into the United States.  Along with the statue, I suggest we construct a replica of Ellis Island staffed to take care of all who want to become residents.  We must celebrate a system that worked as well as that which our parents endured with emulation. Instead, we have fellow citizens who want to tear down the successful system and open the door to anyone at anytime to partake of the benefits and to then  return “home” with the booty.

Many times, I asked my Dad if he missed his home country, each time he answered “this is my home country.”  Mom had a slightly different perspective. She pined for her home town and her mother and brother. The pining never stoped, and when she was seventy-eight years old we gifted her with a trip home. She spent six weeks living with her niece in her “home” town. When she returned, I asked her if she wanted to move back home? She responded, “this is my home.” Dad became an American with his first step onto North American soil.  Mom took a few years longer, but she finally admitted she too was an American.

Obama Wants to “In-source”

No words needed, we all feel the pain of illegal immigration. We pay the taxes and the gov’m’nt borrows money to keep the illegals. In the meantime, the administration works feverishly to kill capitalism, and the job market for genuine tax paying citizens. Its Cloward-Piven strategy played to the max. Overload the welfare system to bankrupt the country, and make everyone dependent on the gov’m’nt. We are watching it happen right before our eyes and we are powerless to do anything to stop it. November isn’t coming soon enough.

Obama opens the border and encourages illegal entrants to in-source, and he kills jobs for citizens with regulation and taxes.

Law Breaker in Chief

Obama makes another Alinsky move and breaks another law. Section. 3. of Article II of the United States Constitution states the President’s responsibilities

“. . . he shall take Care that the Laws be faithfully executed, . . .”

What can I say? Obama is taking Care not to execute Immigration Laws and  is violating his Constitutional responsibilities. He is clearly The Law Breaker in Chief, and Congress must impeach him for this deliberate dereliction. We continue to hear “we are a Nation of Laws”, but then we fail to enforce them i.e. unless it is not politically correct to do so.

One of my current interests is in Immigration reform. My parents were immigrants who came to America by boat to Ellis Island. Most of my friends proudly claim the same heritage, they are sons and daughters of immigrants, LEGAL IMMIGRANTS. The US has a long history of laws beginning in 1875 when the Supreme Court declared that regulation of US immigration is the responsibility of the Federal Government.

1903: This Act restated the 1891 provisions concerning land borders and called for rules covering entry as well as inspection of aliens crossing the Mexican border.

The complete history is available at Rapid Immigration.com

What is grossly hypocritical is that the US government has several immigration policies. One uses the current law, and makes aliens apply through US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). The process takes years and money. The second allows aliens to walk across the border. Another scheme is to  over stay a legally acquired Visa. Who decides which immigrant is to stay? Let’s go back in time and settle on one uniform process.

Roughly one million people enter the USA legally every year, millions more walk over the line and set up camp in our cities.

Law Breaker in Chief

Lincoln freed the slaves and saved the Union. Obama makes us slaves and destroys the Union.

The President’s latest assault on Arizona basically cuts the State from the Union. He has succeeded in becoming the opposite of President Lincoln who freed the slaves, and saved the Union. President Obama is severing a State from the Union, and turning private sector workers into twenty-first century tax-slaves. Essentially, the border between Mexico and Arizona ceased to exist with Obama’s order to not enforce immigration law. It is my opinion that he is making good on a campaign promise to Leftist George Soros to open the border to gain Soros’ monetary support. Somehow, I don’t think we should allow George Soros to pull Obama’s strings.

If we are truly a Nation of Laws, then let us enforce them. If we think a Law is wrong, or out of date, let us repeal it . America is a big country with a huge heart. We are capable of assimilating many Peoples into our land. We are dependent on immigration to keep our country alive and vibrant. Let us face it, many people today begin families later in life, and thus they limit how many offspring they can have. Our current birth rate will not sustain us as a people. We need immigrants to keep our exceptional culture alive.

Here is my take on Immigration Reform:

1. Secure the borders. Don’t let anyone in without proper, lawfully obtained documentation. Open borders will only cause more migration of Peoples and cultures that will destroy the concept of America as a country. Open borders will move North American civilization backwards toward a more Neanderthal time.

2. Create a pathway for those illegals already in the country to become legal citizens. Although Amnesty is an easy out, it does not solve the problem. It didn’t in the past and it won’t now or in the future.

3. Repeal current laws completely and revise immigration quotas based on labor needs, desirability (law breakers, those with communicable diseases excluded, etc.)

4. Enact laws to allow people work permits, for instance, Singapore has a law that permits foreign labor to come to the country using contracts. When a worker completes his contract he must return home. Singapore regulates how many times a worker can come back.

5. All immigrants seeking permanent residency must sign an oath of allegiance to America, and to denounce Sharia law. An immigrant may follow religious laws within his heart, but the must pledge to follow Constitutional Law to live in the country.

6. Immigrants who wish to apply for citizenship must prove they know how to read, write, and speak English.

7. Only citizens may get government benefits.

8. Working citizens and aliens must pay income taxes.

9. Renounce multiculturalism, and embrace American Exceptionalism. Political correctness and multiculturalism is on the brink of destroying Europe. France and Spain are just a few years away from losing their own unique Ethnic cultures to Islamism. Mid Eastern Civilization is conquering Europe without firing a shot by populating the countries, using the countries  own laws and social programs to excess while insisting their culture be honored over that of the host nation. Confused Europeans have allowed their demands only to see their own cultures evaporate.

10. Reject One World Order as a political system until all countries in the world can meet economic and political stability. Example: the European Union is about to fall apart because the many countries do not agree on how to control government expenditures and their economies.

Can I have an Amen?

Alien Surge

A few weeks ago, I posted a cartoon depicting Obama pulling the Arizona-Mexican border to the north of Phoenix. My research on immigration frustrated me because I could not find a website to explain what the rules are for obtaining a green card visa into the USA. Today, I struck oil. One thing about the transparency of this administration, they put the information out there, but it is so layered in departments that it is dam near impossible to find.

In the Department of Homeland Security website is a tiny department referred to as the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Isn’t that a mouthful? I found the rules there, but not the cost. I scoured the net for another hour looking for references to the cost of obtaining a green card. The best answer I found is an average of $6000.00. WOW! The average time to obtain a card is 3 to 6 months if you fall into the privileged needs category. If you are a peon, the time is 15 to 24 months.

The US Citizenship and Immigration Service manages to eke out a million green cards and a million work permits every year. The claim is that the applicants cover the cost of the department. A short review of their budget confused me. I am not an accountant, but the good Nuns of Our Lady of Hungary grammar school taught me numbers. I can recognize billions when I see them. The best I gleaned from the budget is that they spend between $21,613,000,000.00, and $50,138,000,000.00 per year. The good Nuns also taught me to divide, and I calculate the cost of those green cards and permits to be between $10,806.50 and $25,069.00 apiece. Didn’t I just say it costs the applicant an average of $6000 to obtain a green card? Who gets that money? Probably a lawyer.

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to determine that a person making the minimum wage, and working eighty hours a week can amass $55,000 in the time it takes to wait for the paperwork to process. So, why do I want to get a green card? A US worker sees that money as poverty level wages. The illegal alien sees it as a fortune with which he can buy his home town.

All this transparency stuff is making my head spin. It is time for a Grey Goose Martini. Before I do though, my recommendation is that we begin Comprehensive Immigration Reform by dissolving the US Citizenship and Immigration Service, and use the money to build a Great Wall like the one they have in China, except we coat it in Teflon.
