Senator Mitch McConnell is a stupid pile of political excrement. His comment about President Trump’s expectations being too high show that he has never worked a day in his life. If he had worked in business he would understand that bosses and entrepreneurs expect a lot from their employees. Their expectations are the blood of the business organization.
When I worked for a living I had a boss who owned the company, and his usual habit was to call me into the office in the morning, and hand me a 3 x 5 note with very brief line on it which only he could see was the idea that would become viral as a product. He gave me enough words to explain his line, and lucky for me I would understand it. By the time I got back to my office he was calling to ask what progress I made toward making his line become real. That is typical in the business world, but in the Senate and House or Representatives the only bosses are We the People, and we only get one vote every two, four, or six years to fire a guy who is a laggard. Mitch recently won his election in Kentucky, so he feels secure in sitting on his verbose ass. I live in Illinois so I don’t get a chance to fire him. In my home state of Illinois, I’m sure Mitch is looked upon as one of the hardest working Senators in the USA. That isn’t saying much is it? Nor is it giving my own Senators any credit for doing anything except to become rich by feeding from the trough.
I think everyone who wants to hold office should have a successful business career first, the experience would give him a sense of urgency to get things done. So would a term limit.

Evidently, North Korea has a remodeling plan for their capital city Pyongyang, and need the area cleared for the renewal. Their braggadocious talk about attacking the USA is intoxicating the leadership to the point of insanity. The USA, even under a liberal President like Obama, would react accordingly if the North Koreans were to attack a US territory. I remind my liberal friends that President Truman, the first US President to unleash atomic power on an enemy was a liberal.
The President’s job is to protect the citizens of the United States. When the Muslims attacked us on 9/11 President Bush reacted by attacking the Taliban in Afghanistan, which led to Iraq, and a lot of dead muslims. The North Koreans will not be treated any differently. Perhaps Kim Jong Un has seen the movie “The Mouse That Roared” too often, and he believes his declaration of war on the USA will result in his failure. The loss would bring the North Koreans foreign aid from America to rebuild their devastated country. This is typical liberal thinking, and it will backfire in a big way. Rebuilding Pyongyang will take more money than Americans are willing to donate. Not to mention replacing all the North Koreans who would die in the process. Kim needs to back down his rhetoric in order to make headway with the world.

I just completed reading Shoot Like A Girl, by Mary Jennings Hegar. I love stories about people who live their dreams. This is the second one that I have read, and they are similar. What I admire most is that when a person really believes in something there is nothing on this planet that will prevent them from accomplishing their goal. Shoot Like A Girl is such a story. Mary Jennings or MJ as she refers to herself throughout the story saw herself as a pilot when she was eight years old. She never let go of that dream. She finally made it in her mid-twenties. In between, she prepared herself in every way she knew how. She had to be the best in school, she had to learn math and science, she had to prepare herself physically. She did that by being good at sports. Along the way she decided that one route to becoming a pilot was to join the Air Force. She learned to shoot and became an expert marksman. Later when she was in the service one of her instructors told her that girls can shoot very well. There is something about feminine physical stature that gives them balance, and the ability to breathe easily and relaxed. There are many women who are snipers.
During MJ’s course through the Air Force she experienced male discrimination. She not only fought against it, but demanded equality. The discrimination never ended, but by the end of her career she earned respect by her valor proving she could equal any male warrior.
The first few chapters of her story seem to be somewhat hum-drum, but as she progresses through the service her story becomes more exciting. When I read Space Man by Astronaut Mike Massimino I found his journey to be similar, always studying, always following orders, always picking himself up after disappointments, but never, never giving up.
MJ’s valorous actions as a pilot in Afghanistan cost her pain and discomfort, but she didn’t let it slow her down. She finally left her service job and took up the cause of women in the services. She successfully caused our government to rescind policy preventing women from fighting alongside men in shooting wars.
