You Are Invited

Lion Grumpa Joe is throwing a big party this Thursday evening 28 August 2014, for anyone 21 years old or older between 6:30 and 11:00 p.m. at Oak and Kansas Street in Historic Frankfort, Illinois. I’m calling it the Best Wurst Fest ever! You are all invited. Admission is by invitation only, and an invitation is a mere twenty dollars. The sawbuck gets you a chance to win a 10,000 dollar jackpot and gets two people into the party. Oh, I almost forgot, if you wait until Thursday night to buy a ticket at the door the invitation fee goes to twenty-five bucks. If you aren’t a party person, you can still buy the ticket to get a chance to win the jackpot because you don’t have to be there to win. Isn’t that a great idea, or what?

The food offered will be genuine German bratwurst sandwiches, with what else but sour kraut? If you are not hungry, and still wish to fill your need for salt, we offer authentic German twisted bread sticks lovingly called pretzels. Wash it all down with some fantastic imported German Warsteiner Pilsen beer. It is the rich creamy kind with a thick tall head like they pour in Munich, Heidelberg and Frankfurt during October Fest. If you can’t stand bratwurst, pretzels, or beer, I’ll have pizza, and soft drinks. If you can’t stand eating, I asked the famous Peter from the Bier Stube restaurant to entertain you while we wait for Die Musikmeisters Band to play oom-pah songs so we can all do the German Polka and Chicken Dance the night away.

I guarantee your friends will ask you on Friday morning if you had a good time last night because you will look like you have a package on.

Click the button below to get your admittance to the party, I added a $1.00 service fee so the entire sawbuck goes to charity.

Your ticket will be at Will Call in the Lions Wurst Fest Beer Tent ticket booth on Thursday night 28 August 2014. Please bring a printout of your PayPal receipt and a picture i.d. to verify your age and donation.

Remember, my invitation goes to everyone including your friends, relatives, neighbors, or the guy you sit next to on the train coming home from work, and the beauty of it is that one ticket gets two people through the gate, now is that beautiful or what?

Can’t you just taste it now?

The Dark of Day

23Jul2005Thunderstorm01

This 1:45 this afternoon I sat at my desk in front of a window, but had to turn on my reading lamp. As is usual during summer when we have very high temperatures and equally high humidity and a cool front comes in from the northwest we have a thunder booming lightning storm with torrential downpour.  It had just begun to rain and the winds bent the cottonwoods toward the house when I got the come hither sign from Peg. She just stands nearby curling her pointing finger to signal I should jump to her attention. I did, because I have learned that it is easier to jump than it is to withstand the wrath of a woman scorned. She walked me to the back windows in the now sun-less sun-room and pointed at the trees bending in the wind and the rain rolling off the roof. She fully expected me to say “we should go hide in a closet downstairs in the basement.” Instead, I responded with “gee, this is really a beautiful thunder boomer, I haven’t seen a storm like this in a long time.” I went to the front door and cracked it open to feel how much the temperature had dropped. Lightening struck across the street lighting up the dark windy rain-swept sky followed by a thunder crack the likes of which shook the house. WOW, that was close. I’d crap my pants if the flagpole took a direct hit. Peg looked at me and said, “you’re weird.”

“Thanks for the compliment. You think this is bad? I’ve slept in a tent on the East shore of the Bay of Fundy in a storm worse than this. I can go on, and on telling you stories about exactly where I huddled in a tent when we got hit by this kind of storm Relax and enjoy nature at her finest.”

“Like I said, you’re weird.”

Five minutes later the rain stopped, the thunder subsided, and the sky lightened.

100,000 and Growing!

Six years ago, when I began blogging, I never dreamed that my writing would have been seen and read over a hundred thousand times. This morning I passed the 100,000 views milestone. Thank you WordPress for allowing me this terrific venue for exposing the contents of my mind. By the way, over 90% of what goes on in my mind is X-rated so don’t look for it at any time. They say the mind is the last organ to go.

I learned too late, even though WordPress recommended following other bloggers, to build up my own followers, and I now have 440 followers. I have posted over 1260 articles, essays, cartoons, jokes, garden lies, and personal tidbits, so there is a variety of subject matter to amuse anyone who wants to know what goes on in the mind of a seventy-something old man.

THANK YOU followers and readers.
