Messenger Woods

Today, I. and I took a short hike in Messenger Woods Nature Preserve in Homer Glen, IL. In my short lifetime I have visited almost every nature hiking path in the area, but Messenger escaped me. We figured the snow would be too deep to walk, but took a chance on it being a well used trail. we parked in a loop and stopped to read the message board, and to view the map. I determined the trail head to be about two to three hundred meters away. There were no tracks leading to it. My Lovely shook her head and balked at the prospect of lifting legs ten inches high with every step. We returned to the car, and I decided that as long as I was there I would continue to the end of the drive to see where it leads. The drive was short and sure enough there was the official trial head for the short .5 mile loop. The second choice was a 1.3 mile loop which we decided to do at another time. The short loop was well trodden and the path was lumpy but walkable. The lumps made it a bit treacherous, but what the hell let’s do it.

The sun was at it’s peak and the sky was as blue as a sky can be. The brightness required us to wear sunglasses. The temperature was a balmy 26 degrees Fahrenheit. The walking was slow because of the lumps, and the hills. Walking up a hill was easier than walking down. During the downside our shoes tended to ski out from under us and we would up flailing arms and twisting our bodies to keep from falling. We took it slow, and even slower on the downsides. The singing birds were the only noise in the forest. The trees at Messenger are huge and old. It wasn’t obvious how huge until we passed a downed tree, and saw the trunk horizontal and stretched out. Being a Nature Center they are not allowed to remove the fallen trees, but they are allowed to clear a path if a downed one crosses the trail. Many of the fallen seniors were easily sixty feet in length, and two feet or more in diameter.

We didn’t see a single deer during our walk but the forest floor was riddled with foot prints of many different kinds of animals. Deer tracks were the most common. I have yet to learn where deer stay in the day time. One would think that on a sunny day like today they would be easily spotted, but they weren’t.

While walking I had a recollection of a camping trip I took with friends to Yellowstone Park in Wyoming. Five of us, two engineers and three school teachers, stuffed our bikes, gear, and selves into a GM mini van and drove to Jackson Hole in July. The goal was to bicycle around the Yellowstone Park loop, and camp between segments. Before we reached Jackson Hole, one of the teachers who was an experienced camper, skier, and hiker asked if he could stop at a small town maybe Pinedale, forty miles south of Jackson Hole. There was a super sports equipment store there where one could buy neat camping, hiking, fishing, and hunting gear of any kind. During that stop, I bought a pair of polyester wind-pants to wear over my legs on chilly Yellowstone nights. This morning I was trying to remember what year it was that we took that trip so I could peg the age of these pants. Since that trip x-x years ago this is the first year I have worn the wind pants, and I have worn them more than any other time. Talk about being emotionally connected to something like a pair of pants, this is a prime example. Now, I am thinking of all the other stuff I have hidden in drawers, closets, and shelves that are there because the items are too good to throw away, and I might use it again. The easiest way to quantify all that stuff is to call it a house full.

Be Prepared

Fifteen year old Alex Halprin throws a tizzy fit about going to visit his uncle in Illinois. He and his mother quarrel often, and this time his mother gives in. His parents and young sister leave for the weekend to drive the hundred and forty miles to Warren, Illinois near Galena. Alex looks forward to a lazy weekend of video games. He settles into his room when a loud crashing noise and a sudden shock to the house causes it to collapse around him and catches fire.

Alex’s life changed dramatically because a volcano explodes in Yellowstone Park some thousand miles to the west and destroys his town of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and everything in between. This scenario plays out in the book titled “Ashfall” by Mike Mullen. I mentioned it in my post “He Scared The Crap Out Of Me.” The whole scenario of what happens when a super volcano like the one lurking below Lake Yellowstone in Yellowstone Park explodes, fascinates me so I downloaded the book to my Kindle and couldn’t stop reading.

If ever there is a case for keeping the Second Amendment alive and well along with our private firearms this is the reason. When the country, literally the entire country, is under emergency management, we will need our guns and ammo to protect ourselves from our neighbors, looters, and the government.  Picture the moment when all power is out, two feet of ash covers the landscape and prevents all forms of transportation from happening, there is no communication of any kind, daylight turns into darkness for weeks, and survivors are looking for food, water, and shelter.  Mike Mullins paints a fairly bleak picture about how society will react. Small towns will fare better, as will enterprising self-sufficient farmers. Big city folks are in trouble. In the story, Alex and his friend Darla finally come upon a FEMA camp and think they are safe, wrong. The camp is nothing more than a guarded fenced area with meager rations, nonexistent sleeping quarters, primitive pit toilets inhabited by thousands of starving people.

Mullins convinced me that I should prepare for the worst and stock emergency provisions for my family. Oh yeah, I have to buy a gun and plenty of ammunition too.

He Scared the Crap Out of Me

Well folks, A good friend of mine just scared the crap out of me with a link he sent.  Being the curious type I followed it and read about a plan our country has formulated to send millions of people from the USA to countries like Brazil, Australia, Argentina, and South Africa. Why? That is my questions these days. According to Geo-physicists Yellowstone Park is due to blow up any second, day, year, or millennium.  They don’t really know is what they are saying. What they do see, however, is animals  leaving Yellowstone. In their minds this is an indicator of a man-made global warming disaster in the works. The man-made global warming thingy is mine not theirs. I’m surprised that ALGORE has not used this as another super scare tactic to sell his carbon credit scheme to the world.

One of the funniest things in the article is that South Africa rejects the idea of accepting so many white people into their country because it would upset their culture. I guess they need some Progressives to teach them about the benefits of diversity. I wish I would have been on the line with that caller, I would have suggested we send only black people back to South Africa. I wonder if  that would have changed their minds.

The map above shows the predicted area that a volcanic eruption will cover. Good bye western states, when Yellowstone goes so do you. The article I read doesn’t explain what the effect will be it merely describes people being shipped to far away places. My question is which people? Those under ash, or those in the Eastern USA who might have survived? Notice how the effect of the volcano conveniently stops along our border with Mexico. Most likely that is because the Mexicans enforce their laws allowing US Citizens into their country.

No where in any of these links did I read about how the government would find and transport millions of people to new countries. How many airplanes would it take? How many flights? Would there be any airports or docks from which transport could take place? Perhaps they would prevail upon Russell Crowe to build an Ark to transport our sorry asses to Australia. Would they ship Conservatives or Progressives, or both? Would the IRS be involved? Will the big boom end all NSA spying inn us?

Another link in the article took me to a book called Ashfall” by Mike Mullin. This story takes place after the big boom, and is one I have to read. It is in the “scare the hell out of young people” genre like Divergent and Hunger Games, but, I am old, why is it scaring the hell out of me?

After absorbing all of this stuff, I decided my goal to bash Obama is for naught because in a another second, minute, year or millennium, we, meaning him and me, will be digging out of the ash and there will be no wealth left to redistribute. EXCEPT, the Pope has some new news for us Catholics. He has asked the UN to consider turning the world into a Marxist state so all the poor can partake in the wealth. Not only will I die in the ash, my soul will roast in hell. My world is crumbling. All I can say is THANKS Rich, you made my day.

Subject: Fw: President O visit to Bozeman

This is from a woman who lives in Bozeman, Montana..  Thought you would be interested in the truth about how his visits are orchestrated. Her husband is a former Navy pilot and Delta Airlines captain.

————————————————————————————————————–

By now you have probably heard that President Obama came to Montana last Friday. However, there are many things that the major news has not covered. I feel that since Bill and I live here and we were at the airport on Friday I should share some facts with you. Whatever you decide to do with the information is up to you. If you chose to share this email with others I do ask that you DELETE my email address before you forward this on.

On Wednesday, August 5th it was announced locally that the President would be coming here. There are many groups here that are against his healthcare and huge spending so those groups began talking and deciding on what they were going to do. The White House would not release ANY details other than the date.

On about Tuesday Bill found out that they would be holding the “Town Hall” at the airport. (This is only because Bill knows EVERYONE at the airport) Our airport is actually located outside of Belgrade (tiny town) in a very remote location. Nothing is around there. They chose to use a hangar that is the most remotely located hangar.. You could not pick a more remote location, and you can not get to it easily. It is totally secluded from the public.

FYI: We have many areas in Belgrade and Bozeman which could have held a large amount of folks with sufficient parking. (gymnasiums/auditoriums). All of which have chairs and tables, and would not have to be SHIPPED IN!! $$$$$

During the week, cargo by the TONS was being shipped in constantly. Airport employees could not believe how it just kept coming. Though it was our President coming several expressed how excessive it was, especially during a recession.  $$$$$

Late Tuesday/early Wednesday the 12th,  they said that tickets would be handed out on Thursday 9am at two locations and the president would be arriving around 12:30 Friday.

Thursday morning about 600 tickets were passed out. However, 1500 were printed at a Local printing shop per White House request. Hmmmm……900 tickets just DISAPPEARED.

This same morning someone called into the radio from the local UPS branch and said that THOUSANDS of Dollars of Lobster were shipped in for Obama. Montana has some of the best beef in the nation!!! And it would have been really wonderful to help out the local economy. Anyone heard of the Recession?? Just think…with all of the traveling the White House is doing. $$$$$ One can only imagine what else we are paying for.

On Friday Bill and I got out to the airport about 10:45am. The groups that wanted to protest Obama’s spending and healthcare had gotten a permit to protest and that area was roped off. But that was not to be. A large bus carrying SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members drove up onto the area (illegal)and unloaded right there. It was quite a commotion and there were specifically 2 SEIU men trying to make trouble and start a fight. Police did get involved and arrested the one man but they said they did not have the manpower to remove the SEIU crowd.

The SEIU crowd was very organized and young. About 99% were under the age of 30 and they were not locals! They had bullhorns and PROFESSIONALLY made signs. Some even wore preprinted T-shirts. Oh, and Planned Parenthood folks were with them…..professing abortion rights with their T-shirts and preprinted signs.  (BTW, all these folks did have a permit to protest in ANOTHER area)

Those against healthcare/spending moved away from the SEIU crowd to avoid confrontation. They were orderly and respectful. Even though SEIU kept coming over and walking through, continuing to be very intimidating and aggressive at the direction of the one SEIU man.

So we had Montana folks from ALL OVER the state with their homemade signs and their DOGS with homemade signs. We had cowboys, nurses, doctors you name it. There was even a guy from Texas who had been driving through. He found out about the occasion, went to the store, made a sign, and came to protest.

If you are wondering about the press…..Well, all of the major networks were over by that remote hangar I mentioned. They were conveniently parked on the other side of the buildings FAR away. None of these crowds were even visible to them. I have my doubts that they knew anything about the crowds.

We did have some local news media around us from this state and Idaho. Speaking of the local media…they were invited. However, all questions were to be turned into the White House in advance of the event. Wouldn’t want anyone to have to think off the top of their head.

It was very obvious that it was meant to be totally controlled by the White House. Everything was orchestrated down to the last detail to make it appear that Montana is just crazy for Obama and government healthcare. Even those people that talked about their insurance woes……..the White House called our local HRDC (Human Resource and Development Committee) and asked for names. Then the White House asked those folks to come. Smoke and mirrors…EVERYTHING was staged!!!!!!!!!!!

I am very dismayed about what I learned about our current White House. The amount of control and manipulation was unbelievable. I felt I was not living in the United States of America, more like the USSR!! I was physically nauseous. Bill and I have been around when Presidents or Heads of State visit. It has NEVER been like this. I am truly very frightened for our country. America needs your prayers and your voices. If you care about our country please get involved. Know the issues. And let Congress hear your voices again and again!! If they are willing to put forth so much effort to BULLY a small town one can only imagine what is going on in Washington DC. Scary!!

Why is it that I believe every word she wrote? It’s my opinion that Obama did not go to Bozeman for a Town Hall meeting. He could give a rats ass about what the people of Bozeman think. He needed an excuse to take his family to see Yellowstone on the tax payer. The theatrics of these events is overwhelming, but presidential in scope.  The man has no shame when it comes to spending other people’s money.

To compel a man to subsidize with his taxes the propagation of ideas which he disbelieves and abhors is sinful and tyrannical.
