Last night in a dream I saw a special football game played. One team wore red and the other blue uniforms. The uniforms were not what made this game special, it was the make up of the teams. The players on the red team were all patriots who loved standing with a hand over their heart and to sing the National Anthem before the game. The Blue team was comprised of the kneelers. Both teams played their hearts out, and I woke up before anyone scored, so I can’t tell who won.
The concept of a two team playoff where the teams are from totally succinct players would be an excellent way to ease the tension of the country. It would be like having war on the football field. I’m not sure the winner would be satisfied with the end. For instance, would the kneelers really give up protesting what they believe to be a huge problem in America, i.e. that the police across the country shoot blacks without cause? Would we as fans be satisfied that the issue has been resolved? Probably not. My conclusion is that this kind of competition will never happen, nor will it save anything, but it may be entertaining.
