Ashamed of Their Country

Grumpa Joe intended this blog site as a place where he would post his work exclusively; He would share with readers the wisdom of his years. For the most part about half of what he posts is original stuff and the other half comes from contributions from friends on subjects that touch his nerves. When he does post a contribution he adds words of his own to give a rationale.

Today, he has a piece from a Dorothy, a friend he knows from the company they worked for. She and he were at different ends of the building but they made enough contact to become friends. She worked in Carpet Land, and he worked in the trenches. Whenever he got called to see the Boss, she was the one who announced his presence. After many years of retirement they somehow hooked up again via the blogosphere. Dorothy sends him really good stuff regularly. Today, she got him going with this little known piece of news that didn’t really make the news. This is the kind of stuff that gets his juices flowing.

First is her contribution, second will be Joe’s thoughts on why this happened.

George Washington statue is hidden at the MLK rally in Columbia, SC

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia, SC had an interesting twist this year.

The event is held on the North side steps of the statehouse.

Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington.

This year, the NAACP constructed a “box” to conceal the father of our country from view so that participants would

Not be ‘offended’ by his presence.

I could hardly believe my eyes when I saw this picture of the MLK Day rally in Columbia, South Carolina.

This rally was sponsored by the NAACP, and they said that they covered the statue because they “didn’t want to offend anyone.”

Really? George Washington is the father of this nation. How is he offensive to anyone?

Can you imagine what would happen if we covered the statue of Dr. Martin L. King on President’s Day? Or, is only the statue of a ‘white guy’ offensive??

Of course, this display of anti-Americanism wasn’t covered at all by the national media (surprise, surprise!!), and the local paper in Columbia only ran a short piece on it. It has been covered a little by the blog-world, but I think the word needs to get out to the general public that this is what the NAACP is all about…militant and (most definitely) racist.

An angel on Joe’s shoulder told him to check this out on Snopes before hitting the “Publish” button. Snopes gave it a Green dot with a red circle around it, meaning the article above is a mixture of truth. Actually, it is true but not complete. Snopes doesn’t allow one to copy their analysis, but ASK.com does and their version is identical to Snopes.

FW: Father of Our Country Boxed Away

The annual MLK observance at the state house in Columbia SC had an interesting twist this year. The event is held on the north side steps of the statehouse. Prominent at that location is a large bronze statue of George Washington. This year, the NAACP constructed a “box” to conceal the Father of His Country from view so that participants would not be offended by his presence.

Analysis: I haven’t (yet) been able to determine precisely who took the above snapshot, but eyewitness accounts and other photos of the Jan. 17, 2011 event confirm that it’s authentic.

As stated above, the occasion was the NAACP’s annual Martin Luther King Jr. Day rally at the state house in Columbia, South Carolina. The participants’ view of the statue of George Washington that stands in front of the capitol building was indeed obstructed by a three-sided wooden box during the ceremonies, a measure which has been roundly criticized by right-leaning political bloggers as disrespectful of the nation’s first President.

Whereas the forwarded text asserts that the organizers of the event sought to “conceal” the statue of Washington “so that participants would not be offended by his presence,” an NAACP spokesperson offered a different explanation, as reportedby John O’Connor in the Jan. 18 edition of The State:

A three-sided structure that covered the front and sides of the statue was intended to display a rally graphic and serve as a photo-and-television backdrop for the event’s speakers, said S.C. NAACP executive director Dwight James. However, the graphic was not finished before the rally and could not be put in place.Photos from the event showed a three-sided box with Washington’s statue visible only from behind the stage. “What we had constructed was a background with a graphic to be placed on it,” James said. “We weren’t trying to obstruct anything.”

The State reported that the statue has been similarly covered at MLK Day events going back at least four years, though most groups holding rallies at the state house leave it unobstructed.

Grumpa Joe tried researching for articles from the last four years but could not find anything. His hopes were to find another photo from another year to prove the validity of the claim that they have been covering statues at their events. He was unsuccessful.

Here is Joe’s take on why they covered George. Even though George Washington played a huge role in kick starting America into existence he owned slaves. Most of the NAACP people Joe has heard speaking resent the Founding Fathers who endorsed the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the BIll of rights, and consider them all hypocrites. They wrote “All men are created equal . . .” yet never included blacks in the conversation. It wasn’t until Lincoln and the Emancipation Proclamation that they became free men. Our government has worked diligently to pass laws to correct the imbalance between blacks and whites, but  have been largely unsuccessful. There is still racial division today, and our first black President is the main perpetrator of racial division. He uses race at every chance to his advantage. Meanwhile, even though the Founders blacks out of the original documents in favor of establishing a country which ultimately advances the black cause and has raised their level of wealth, and education to above the level of blacks anywhere else on earth they refuse to budge from dependence to self-responsibility.

The root cause is slavery. The blacks have been spoon fed by liberals that whites owe them something to make up for the sins committed by the ancestors who did own slaves. Joe’s take on this is “Get over it.” Many countries lived with slaves going back to ancient Rome and further. Eventually, slaves were freed and assimilated into civilization. Every European country had a system of feudal serfs. Serfs were freemen but belonged to the estate on which they worked. They lived free but were required to work the fields of the Lord, while slaves were told exactly what to do and how. Slaves were property, Serfs were not. Serfs could leave an estate at anytime, but because of the feudal system they could only get work on another estate as a serf. Either way, the life of a slave and the life of a serf were pretty darn close.

Yet, many serfs fled European countries to become freemen. We do not hear white immigrant descendents of European Serfs slamming their government, nor claiming restitution for years past. They are happy enough as free men to work within the system. U.S.A. Blacks are several generations removed from slavery, yet they persist in receiving back pay. Haven’t we paid enough in the past 148 years?

Blacks want us to love them and treat them equally. The country has made great inroads to doing that in the past fifty years. Laws favor blacks over whites in many cases. They have served well to lift blacks to make them more equal. In some cases they have an edge over whites. Compare white-workers to black-workers in government jobs. Blacks often have union people assigned as Discrimination Officers. They function to resolve any grievance by a black regarded as discriminatory against him in the favor of the black. Here in Illinois we had a State Mental health Center. In the beginning, it was heavily staffed with whites. With the equal opportunity laws employment swung toward blacks and the State made sure they would not be held for discrimination. As time went on, the blacks outnumbered the white by a ratio of two or three to one. Yet, the Discrimination Officer remained. Blacks discriminated whites daily, but the Discrimination Officer slept in his office waiting for a black to walk in with a claim. Black workers took advantage of white workers every chance they got. For example, telephone operators worked three shifts. The blacks had a system in play. Whenever an operator was going to call in sick to take the day off she would alert the others not to answer their phones at home. That way the supervisor who was calling around for a replacement would not find anyone. The supervisor then “mandated” the worker still at work, to work the next shift. Most of the times the worker mandated was white. In my opinion, the State should have been sued for violation of work rules but they never were. They claimed they needed to keep a health care center running at all costs. Isn’t that a form of slavery, i.e. mandating a person to work another eight hours against his will?

Another example. Two telephone operators working side by side, one black, one white. The black sits at her phone chatting with her Avon customers while the board is lighting up with calls. The white works her butt off to answer her calls, and admonishes her partner to pick up her calls or to switch her board over. “Let them wait” was a typical reply. Both workers made the same money, but the white worker had more value per hour than the black. This type of workplace behavior goes on in all government bureaus, both state and federal. Did you ever wonder why the government workers need the SEIU? Because too many blacks would get fired without a Discrimination Officer in place to shout “racism” to a supervisor and throw the place into a panic about a lawsuit.

How can whites love blacks when they surround the whites with such behavior?

Another example, the Farm Bureau has a program to pay farmers who own small farms $50,000/year to make up for the awful way their ancestors were treated on the same land. Most farmers are black and the program intends to help them. I heard an interview with a black farmer in the program who made a really good living on his farm. The interviewer asked him if he felt dishonest taking the money from the Bureau program. “No, I feel it is my place to punish the government for treating my grandfather and his slave ancestors poorly.”

The bible story “The Tower of Babel” from Genesis finds the Lord dividing people and scrambling their language to make it harder for them to reach heaven, yet we mortals strive to do just that, we try over, and over again to build a Utopia that is not worth living in.

New International Version (NIV)

The Tower of Babel

11 Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. As people moved eastward,[a] they found a plain in Shinar[b] and settled there.

They said to each other, “Come, let’s make bricks and bake them thoroughly.” They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. Then they said, “Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves; otherwise we will be scattered over the face of the whole earth.”

But the Lord came down to see the city and the tower the people were building. The Lord said, “If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them.Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other.”

So the Lord scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. That is why it was called Babel[c]—because there the Lord confused the language of the whole world. From there the Lord scatteredthem over the face of the whole earth.

Throughout history there has been a racial divide between people of color. Let’s face it whites don’t like people of color just as people of color don’t like whites. The color shouldn’t matter but it does. The laws force us to treat each other equally, but push the equality toward people of color to the detriment of the whites.

Another example is the Affirmative Action law which requires institutions to give equal consideration to race, color, religion, etc. This one law has resulted in what I call the Dumbing Down of America. Universities and Colleges force themselves to take on black students with lower credentials than whites. The result is many of the blacks come out with degrees they don’t deserve because no University wants to admit they failed a black. Our current President is a prime example of affirmative action. He would never have made it into the schools he did without affirmative action or a lot of money. Universities also discriminate toward foreign students because they pay cash and out-of-state fees. Perhaps Obama came in as a foreign student fully sponsored by a foreign government.

Nonetheless many very capable white students are being left out of prestigious schools because of Affirmative Action. Some of the Phd degreed blacks i see being interviewed on TV are the most left leaning liberals on earth. They could never hold a real job in the private sector so they continued education by playing the system until they got the title of doctor. That gives them the air of superior intelligence. Most of them are out of their league, and expect us to love them because they are smart blacks.

I don’t deny there are some very smart blacks in the country. Favorites like Thomas Sowell,  Econ Professor in California, or Ben Carson, Brain Surgeon, or Mychal Massie, Author, or Hermain Cain, Businessman, or Walter Williams, Economist, or Col. Allen West, Retired Military and Politician are all people I would live next door to and love them like my brother. The real question is would they want to live next to me?

A Portrait of Honor

Liberals are already planning a place of honor for their dictator president. Much debate is taking place by pundits from various news sources about why Obama belongs on Mount Rushmore. If you search just for a few nano-seconds you will even find superimposed photos of Obama carved into the mountain next to Lincoln.

I agree, for once with my liberal friends, that an image of Obama must there next to Lincoln, i.e. the one I show. It totally represents the man who does all he can to undo what Lincoln did. Instead of emancipating the blacks of America he further subjugated them to poverty, and into vote-slaves. In this regard he is better than Lincoln because he doesn’t limit vote-slavery to the blacks, he includes all of us. Lincoln died to keep the states united, Obama lives to divide the country.

In my design, I place Obama next to, and above Lincoln because that is where he believes he is. I depict Obama as I see him. This likeness is one of the best I have drawn since he took office, and it most accurately depicts his character. I just hope the model does not get wind of what I have done. I don’t want him attempting suicide.

Are “We the People” Going to Stand for That?

According to my dictionary the word slavery defines a person who is the legal property of another and is forced to obey them. When America rebelled against England  in 1776, slavery was legal. Landowners owned slaves. The founders struggled with the concept of keeping slaves while they defined the concept of “all men are created equal.”  Thomas Jefferson originally had words which included slaves in the Declaration of Independence. The southern colonies would not join the union if the declaration included slaves as equals. A long debate ensued and ultimately, the fathers concluded that a strong union of the thirteen colonies was most essential.  Jefferson wrote the last version of the Declaration of Independence as it stands today. The founders were the first to kick the  problem(slavery) down the road; thus setting a precedent for current congressional leaders to do the same with issues like Medicare, Social Security, and Medicaid.

One hundred years later, Abraham Lincoln, founder of the Republican party, finally decided to end the can kicking and abolished slavery. The cost he incurred was huge both in dollars, and in human lives. He believed as did Jefferson (who was reportedly the founder of the Democrat party) that the slaves  must be included in the “all men are created equal,” phrase of the Declaration. Lincoln took a hard stand and signed the Emancipation Proclamation, ending slavery in the USA. He chose to do the right thing and not to kick the can down the road.

I suggest that everyone review the Declaration of Independence. I did, and I if I didn’t know it was the Declaration, I would swear the writer described the same issues we face in our country today. The Declaration is a call to arms and gives the rationale for doing so. Today, citizens of the USA are  divided.  Half are on the side of the government (monarchy) while the other believes in the right to govern themselves. In 1774-76 the colonists made ready for armed revolution to take their country from the King of England. Today, we see a Tea Party who believes as the colonists, i.e. we have the right and moral obligation to govern ourselves. Instead of an armed revolution Tea Party people like myself believe in peaceful use of the existing process to win back the country.

Since Lincoln’s time, our leaders in Washington have invented new philosophies for governing. Some say, that it is the role of Government to take care of the people under the “Welfare” clause of the Constitution. There is a Jefferson quote carved in stone at the Jefferson Memorial in Washington that contradicts the philosophy that we are stupid, and need to be cared for;

“I have sworn upon the altar of God, eternal hostility against every form of tyranny over the mind of man.”

Thomas Jefferson believed in man’s ability to think and care for himself. We do not  need another man to  Lord over us.

Thomas Jefferson foresaw that  if left unchecked, the government would rebel against the will of the people and revert to tyranny. He truly believed as did his compatriots, that “Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed . . . .”

Obama’s speech this week to the GWU students clearly signaled his intention to stifle any effort by the people to take back their government and reverse exorbitant and  costly social programs.

Are We the People going to stand for that, or  will we allow him to lead us down the road to big government dependency and ultimately become tax-slaves to feed the monster?

I’m 63 and I’m Tired

My Flag Flies Everyday

This is another story sent to me by a dear friend. This one represents the feelings and thoughts of many people in the USA today.  This author had the moral courage to put his own thoughts in writing for me, and you too.

I’m 63 and I’m Tired

by Robert A. Hall

I’m 63.  Except for one semester in college when jobs were scarce and a six-month period when I was between jobs, but job-hunting every day, I’ve worked, hard, since I was 18. Despite some health challenges, I still put in 50-hour weeks, and haven’t called in sick in seven or eight years. I make a good salary, but I didn’t inherit my job or my income, and I worked to get where I am. Given the economy, there’s no retirement in sight, and I’m tired. Very tired.

I’m tired of being told that I have to “spread the wealth” to people who don’t have my work ethic. I’m tired of being told the government will take the money I earned, by force if necessary, and give it to people too lazy to earn it.

I’m tired of being told that I have to pay more taxes to “keep people in their homes.”  Sure, if they lost their jobs or got sick, I’m willing to help. But if they bought McMansions at three times the price of our paid-off, $250,000 condo, on one-third of my salary, then let the left-wing Congress-critters who passed Fannie and Freddie and the Community Reinvestment Act that created the bubble help them with their own money.

I’m tired of being told how bad  America  is by left-wing millionaires like Michael Moore, George Soros and Hollywood Entertainers who live in luxury because of the opportunities  America  offers. In thirty years, if they get their way, the United States  will have the economy of  Zimbabwe , the freedom of the press of  China , the crime and violence of  Mexico , the tolerance for Christian people of  Iran , and the freedom of speech of  Venezuela .

I’m tired of being told that Islam is a “Religion of Peace,” when every day I can read dozens of stories of Muslim men killing their sisters, wives and daughters for their family “honor”; of Muslims rioting over some slight offense; of Muslims murdering Christian and Jews because they aren’t “believers”; of Muslims burning schools for girls; of Muslims stoning teenage rape victims to death for “adultery”; of Muslims mutilating the genitals of little girls; all in the name of Allah, because the Qur’an and Shari’a law tells them to.

I’m tired of being told that “race doesn’t matter” in the post-racial world of Obama, when it’s all that matters in affirmative action jobs, lower college admission and graduation standards for minorities (harming them the most), government contract set-asides, tolerance for the ghetto culture of violence and fatherless children that hurts minorities more than anyone, and in the appointment of U.S. Senators from Illinois.

I think it’s very cool that we have a black president and that a black child is doing her homework at the desk where Lincoln  wrote the Emancipation Proclamation. I just wish the black president was Condi Rice, or someone who believes more in freedom and the individual and less arrogantly of an all-knowing government.

I’m tired of a news media that thinks Bush’s fundraising and inaugural expenses were obscene, but that think Obama’s, at triple the cost, were wonderful; that thinks Bush exercising daily was a waste of presidential time, but Obama exercising is a great example for the public to control weight and stress; that picked over every line of Bush’s military records, but never demanded that Kerry release his; that slammed Palin, with two years as governor, for being too inexperienced for VP, but touted Obama with three years as senator as potentially the best president ever. Wonder why people are dropping their subscriptions or switching to Fox News?  Get a clue. I didn’t vote for Bush in 2000, but the media and Kerry drove me to his camp in 2004.

I’m tired of being told that out of “tolerance for other cultures” we must let  Saudi Arabia  use our oil money to fund mosques and madrassa Islamic schools to preach hate in  America , while no American group is allowed to fund a church, synagogue or religious school in  Saudi Arabia  to teach love and tolerance.

I’m tired of being told I must lower my living standard to fight global warming, which no one is allowed to debate. My wife and I live in a two-bedroom apartment and carpool together five miles to our jobs. We also own a  three-bedroom condo where our daughter and granddaughter live. Our carbon footprint is about 5% of Al Gore’s, and if you’re greener than Gore, you’re green enough.

I’m tired of being told that drug addicts have a disease, and I must help support and treat them, and pay for the damage they do. Did a giant germ rush out of a dark alley, grab them, and stuff white powder up their noses while they tried to fight it off? I don’t think Gay people choose to be Gay, but I damn sure think druggies chose to take drugs. And I’m tired of harassment from cool people treating me like a freak when I tell them I never tried marijuana.

I’m tired of illegal aliens being called “undocumented workers,” especially the ones who aren’t working, but are living on welfare or crime. What’s next?  Calling drug dealers, “Undocumented Pharmacists”?  And, no,  I’m not against Hispanics. Most of them are Catholic, and it’s been a few hundred years since Catholics wanted to kill me for my religion.  I’m willing to fast track for citizenship any Hispanic person, who can speak English, doesn’t have a criminal record and who is self-supporting without family on welfare, or who serves honorably for three years in our military…. Those are the citizens we need.

I’m tired of latte liberals and journalists, who would never wear the uniform of the Republic themselves, or let their entitlement-handicapped kids near a recruiting station, trashing our military. They and their kids can sit at home, never having to make split-second decisions under life and death circumstances, and bad mouth better people than themselves. Do bad things happen in war?  You bet. Do our troops sometimes misbehave?  Sure. Does this compare with the atrocities that were the policy of our enemies for the last fifty years and still are?  Not even close.  So here’s the deal. I’ll let myself be subjected to all the humiliation and abuse that was heaped on terrorists at Abu Ghraib or Gitmo, and the critics can let themselves be subject to captivity by the Muslims, who tortured and beheaded Daniel Pearl in Pakistan, or the Muslims who tortured and murdered Marine Lt. Col. William Higgins in Lebanon, or the Muslims who ran the blood-spattered Al Qaeda torture rooms our troops found in Iraq, or the Muslims who cut off the heads of schoolgirls in Indonesia, because the girls were Christian. Then we’ll compare notes. British and American soldiers are the only troops in history that civilians came to for help and handouts, instead of hiding from in fear.

I’m tired of people telling me that their party has a corner on virtue and the other party has a corner on corruption. Read the papers; bums are bipartisan. And I’m tired of people telling me we need bipartisanship. I live in  Illinois , where the “Illinois Combine” of Democrats has worked to loot the public for years. Not to mention the tax cheats in Obama’s cabinet.

I’m tired of hearing wealthy athletes, entertainers and politicians of both parties talking about innocent mistakes, stupid mistakes or youthful mistakes, when we all know they think their only mistake was getting caught. I’m tired of people with a sense of entitlement, rich or poor.

Speaking of poor, I’m tired of hearing people with air-conditioned homes, color TVs and two cars called poor. The majority of Americans didn’t have that in 1970, but we didn’t know we were “poor.” The poverty pimps have to keep changing the definition of poor to keep the dollars flowing.

I’m real tired of people who don’t take responsibility for their lives and actions. I’m tired of hearing them blame the government, or discrimination or big-whatever for their problems.

Yes, I’m damn tired. But I’m also glad to be 63. Because, mostly, I’m not going to have to see the world these people are making. I’m just sorry for my granddaughter.
